Essentially is as if they stole my tool. I paid for it but they’re keeping me from using by not having a functioning app. At least could have sold to a third party app or something. Frustrated ### 1/5 — Needs update *2024-05-14* I bought the inspection camera and at the time it worked great with my phone but now just because they are to lazy to update the app my camera is a useless piece of plastic. Please update! Even though it says it’s comparable with my new iPhone 15 using iOS 17.3, it is not. The app force shuts down as soon as I open it. I deleted the app and reinstalled it without success. I also restarted my phone and it still doesn’t work. Also my wife tried the app on here iPhone 14 and still no success. I won’t be buying any more Ryobi products that use a phone app. ### 1/5 — Inspection camera waste of money *2023-12-19* This would be a negative rating if it was available. I bought my Ryobi inspection camera 2 years ago and haven’t used it in about a year. I upgraded my phone since then and now the app isn’t supported with my new phone. Now I have a like new inspection camera that isn’t worth squat. I email Ryobi and it clear to my they could care less. When I go to open it, it just shuts down completely. This is very recent. After a few Apple updates it stopped detecting the laser module. Changed batteries as it told me to but the app doesn’t work anymore. It keeps stating that “Ryobi unable to save the reading in photo album please check access” . When I check the access, the camera is selected but it does t give an option to access photo album. This app used to work perfect and I used this moisture meter a lot for work. It would be really nice if it worked. Ryobi needs to work on its app to keep up with IOS updates and make sure it’s always working and up to date. This is clearly a software issue. I have IOS 14.6. Tried restarting phone and uninstalling and reinstalling app. Nothing seems to work. It worked once.I have spent close to 45 minutes or an hour trying to get it to work again: changed batteries, reloaded the app, reset the phone, and on and on. The laser horribly mismeasured, I cleaned the glass with a glass cleaner for glasses and was careful etc. nope that wasn’t the problem, the thing has just died. The app didn’t recognize the device thereafter. It thought it was the laser pointer! It now thinks it’s still the pointer and it it even turned on the laser! ...before going back to bed and turning off the light. iPhone user -updated everything folks. Somebody’s just failed. I’ve given up. I have not been able to use my scope for more than the 3 years since the last update. To be honest my company wasted their money on a product that pretty much has become obsolete and no longer working. It is disappointing to spend money on products or brands that don’t stand behind their product. ### 1/5 — Scope problems *2024-08-10* I’ve had that Ryobi inspection scope for a couple years now and every time I go to try and use it it’s very difficult. It never wants to connect properly to the phone I’ve tried it with Wi-Fi I’ve tried it with data it is very frustrating does anybody know how to fix this. ### 1/5 — Never buy Ryobi! *2024-07-25* As a tradesman, I am the unfortunate owner of several Ryobi app supported products that I regret purchasing, because Ryobi never supports their apps after they are released! So if you have purchased a Ryobi product designed to work with their app, be prepared for utter disappointment when your phones OS is updated, because your Ryobi app will NEVER be updated and will probably not work correctly if it even runs at all! Ryobi is all about getting products out the door, but keeping them running is not even on their agenda! :-( ### 1/5 — They stopped supporting it so my tool is useless *2024-07-18* I will NEVER buy another Ryobi tool as long as I live. I had bought the scope which uses your phone to display a picture. It’s absolutely useless without the app. It fires up displays a blank page and the phone crashes. I tried it on multiple phones so I know it isn’t my particular phone. I’m using iOS 15 with a 13Pro but even a 15 didn’t work. Never buy Ryobi. ### 1/5 — App Won’t Load *2024-07-10* Bought this too a few years ago, now the app hasn’t been updated in 4 years and won’t even load. As far as intrusion I simply said no when it asked for access to my microphone and photos and I was off and running. Had to turn on the LED light to get color to come out in the pictures. There was literally no set up time whatsoever just open the app and started using it. ### 5/5 — Can’t even create an account *2019-09-08, version 1.35* I saw the infrared therm yesterday at HD. After providing the necessary info, I then hit the “create” button but nothing happens. The screen flicks but still remains the same. I’m very disappointed! Taking the thermometer back to HD ASAP. I don’t even want to start on the ridiculously difficult to open package that the unit came in. Do I need to buy some special Ryobi too to open it? ### 5/5 — Works better than expected with iPhone XR: Wireless Inspection Scope *2018-11-24, version 1.35* It works great right out of the package. I bought it today at Home Depot. Almost didn’t buy it after reading poor reviews inside the store.... My biggest problem was that I tried to set it up without reviewing the instructions. Once I set up WiFi communication inside my phones settings, it was a breeze. I started out in basic mode, but quickly switched to the more advanced mode to save images. I had only one glitch when I could not get to the “OK” button on the scope’s app main screen . I simply closed and restarted the app without further issues. Two suggestions:1) The gripper mechanism for the phone is somewhat flimsy. You must use it or keep the phone within 10 feet since you are using the phone as your video monitor. I have dropped phones in the past with cracked screens ruining my day. 2) The battery cover comes off too easily. I decided to secure it with duct tape! I like the scope for the price. Today I used it to locate wiring and plumbing in a bathroom wall before mounting a cabinet. ### 5/5 — Property Manager *2018-10-16, version 1.35* I bought The inspections scope yesterday at Home Depot I read all the negative reviews I downloaded the app it asked to access the Wi-Fi and my camera didn’t make me set up a an account with the password or anything turn the scope on did my business everything worked fine so I don’t know what all the hoopla is about the negativity hope this helps you maybe some customers are not technical or savi in this area but it was basically a no brainer I’ll write more as I try out the other products although I pretty much have most of those high-end ones that were 45 $600 each so these are great for a little temporary uses but for large jobs to find him a water pipe in the yard or things like that these devices don’t do that type of work but I didn’t expect it till it was for a small job to find if there was any mold growing in between the drywall and found no mold yay ### 5/5 — Worked perfect!! *2017-08-29, version 1.34* I'm not sure why everyone is giving this a bad review. It works perfect for me and took about two minutes to set up (That was downloading the app). And you can't beat the price. I'm gonna go buy the other products that go along with this app it works so good! Make sure you know what product your buying!
