Not glorified, not all victories, plenty of death. And in the end, 9/10 times death is impossible to avoid. I prefer this one over the sequel, as this shows you what it was like to be a commander but not be burdened with the paper work (yet) which truly made this one shine over guns of infinity. I died three times while playing, which hasn’t ever happened to me in any other Choice game, but I just kept on playing from the last checkpoint, because it was so fascinating. Maybe a 2/3 of my deaths were very random and difficult to predict. Nonetheless, one of the best Choice games that focus on battles - you won’t find love here - but you’ll see heads rolling. You have no idea what a relief it was to just have a straight protagonist. I have bought several Choice Of games trying to find something like this and I finally have it. Please don't take it away. I'm begging you. You have enough games with forced gay/Bi/trans interactions. Just give the straight community of players more games like this. I've played every CoG out there, and this is well written, however I find the inescapable ending for my playthrough unenjoyable. This is my first review on any app, and I'm utterly disappointed. ### 2/5 — Disappointing update *2015-09-17* I first played this game when it originally came out, and I loved it! I recently decided to give it another go and realised that the author has nerfed the character so much that it seems like it's impossible to create a character that is both able to do well in the first game and still stand up in the second. ( I will admit, though, that I'm basing this off the demo of the sequel that I have played) ### 3/5 — Could be 5 stars without bugs *2022-07-09* Great text based game/interactive novel. Sequel is great too. Unfortunately it has some software issues. I was in the final chapter of this game and switched apps for a few minutes. The game wiped my save and started me in the first chapter. Mind you this was after successfully going through the chapters and reloading the save over the course of 3 days. Real buzzkill when you get that far and lose it all. The developer should look into fixing problems like this, if they did the game would be an easy 5 stars, but otherwise it depends how much time you have and/or how much frustration you’re willing to put up with. ### 3/5 — well written *2016-03-31* Save for that drivel at the beginning about having to play as a white guy for "purely pragmatic reasons." That is absolutely ridiculous. Magic literally exists in this world yet you can't play as a woman because then your social station wouldn't make sense. Git gud. ### 3/5 — Good, not great *2016-03-30* Sabre didn't feel a whole lot like a multiple choice game, there were only occasional choices - some held absolutely no weight, others barely contributing to your stats despite months and years going by in game time in which I would have expected options to improve stats. To this point, I’ve only played a single title that exceeded this in quality, through choice of games, with the title being Guns of infinity.
