### 2/5 — I have to be harsh

*2026-08-20*

I have to be harsh because this app has potential, the fundamentals are really good but there are pretty bad flaws. First of all, very few people, I understand marketing is costly, but every parish young adult ministry and college ministry should be talking about it and mentioning it. More Catholic content creators and pages on social media should be promoting it. Another big issue, is that the free version allows you to see likes if you click on the profile, and the issue is that once the person opens it, they can just back out and not make a decision. I feel like if you open a like, you should be forced to match or decline, if thats not an option then viewing your likes should not be allowed. Another big issue is the cost, a bit too steep, should be lowered just a tad bit. Another big issue is ghosting, I am not sure what the gender ratio is, I am a guy, but I am astonished at how little affective responsibility there is in a Catholic app where charity should be at the forefront, perhaps a scoring system or penalties should be implemented for ghosting. Finally, way too many lukewarm people that don’t accept church teachings.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you for this review because it’s clear you see the potential in what we’re building. We’re a small team, and we’re working hard to grow SacredSpark both organically and through partnerships with parishes, Catholic organizations, and creators. We’re now in a position to accelerate that growth, too, so we’re excited about where things are headed.

A lot of what you mentioned is already something we’re actively working on. We’ve implemented a change where, once you reach a certain number of likes, you have to take action on them- either accept or decline-before continuing. We want to encourage people to actually engage rather than leave others hanging.

We’re also taking ghosting seriously. We have Dating101 and other formation resources built into the app to encourage better dating habits, and we’re exploring additional ways to encourage accountability and charity in how people interact. And when it comes to being authentically Catholic, we address the importance of adhering to Church teaching right from onboarding.

As for the size of the community and pricing, those are areas we’re continuing to work on as we grow. Building a healthy Catholic dating community takes time and a lot of resources, but we’re committed to doing it the right way.

Thanks again for taking the time to give thoughtful, constructive feedback. Reviews like this genuinely help us make SacredSpark better.

### 2/5 — Matchmaking Feature Ruins it

*2026-08-03*

Most of the men on here are weirdos who are clearly on the spectrum and send me likes and of course I just delete them. Then when I get a like from a man that is actually normal - I never hear back from him and then I realized it’s probably because of this stupid match maker option. I’m sure there are moms and sisters making profiles for their sons and brothers and sending likes for them when the men are not actually interested in me. There’s also the issue that I am 32 and received three likes from men in their 50s in one week. I reached out to sacred Spark and they said I had to toggle so that only men within 15 years of my age could see me. This is absurd that I had to set that parameter myself. It does not surprise me that a gross 56 year old man would send me a like what surprised me is that SS allowed it to happen. I am sure the 50 something year old men are going after the girls in their early 20s.

**Developer response:** Thank you for taking the time to share your experience!

Dating apps naturally bring together people with a wide range of preferences, and while we can't control who chooses to send a like, we do want members to have meaningful control over their experience. That's why we offer settings that allow you to limit who can discover your profile, including the mentioned age-range visibility option.

We appreciate your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve the experience for our community. Please contact us directly at support@sacredspark.app if there is anything else we can do for you!

### 4/5 — Good option for Catholics

*2026-07-10, version 1.0.390*

I appreciate the intentionality of the app in aiding the formation of good relationships with faith at the core

### 2/5 — Audio recording

*2026-07-03, version 1.0.390*

Am finding it difficult to get past the audio recording session, after recording it won’t pass, I just get stucked up there and I can’t complete the registration

### 2/5 — subpar

*2026-06-10, version 1.0.384*

I got two matches total and they were hundreds of miles away. I used it for several months and paid for a month

### 4/5 — Dating apps suck but this one is pretty good

*2026-05-30, version 1.0.379*

I appreciate the effort put into an authentically Catholic dating app. I like the features aimed towards more meaningful connection esp with free version (limited likes per day, only seeing one picture, basic info). I really appreciate the options for voice recordings or videos! It does have some tech glitches and would appreciate more messaging features. Been on for about 6 months. We’ll see what happens.

### 3/5 — Are guys even seeing my likes??

*2026-05-25*

I like how intentional the app is and how you can connect with Catholic singles all over the US to expand the dating pool. However, right now there are more cons than pros.

1. No one I like ends up matching with me. I’ve been on several dating apps and almost every man I like ends up liking me back (not trying to sound vain just providing context) and on Sacred Spark not a SINGLE guy I’ve liked has matched with me. It makes me question the algorithm.
2. I don’t like the forced voice note. Not everyone wants to do something like that and it should be optional.
3. There shouldn’t be such a tight cap on how many profiles you can look through a day. It’s making the whole dating process so much slower with likes just trickling in and not as many connections being made.

**Developer response:** Hi Jill, Thank you so much for your feedback. We’re really glad to hear you appreciate the intentionality of the app!

On the matching piece, we’d encourage you to give it a little time. SacredSpark is intentionally designed to move a bit slower than most dating apps, and with our latest release, we actually introduced a new change that encourages users to intentionally respond to people who have already liked them before continuing to send out large numbers of new likes. We’re trying to foster more meaningful engagement and conversations rather than the fast-paced “blast through profiles” culture that exists on many apps today.

Regarding the voice note, thank you for that feedback! We’ve found it helps people feel more human and authentic beyond just photos and text, but completely understand that not everyone is comfortable with that format, though, and we really appreciate the feedback as we continue iterating and improving the experience.

And on the daily profile limits, that’s also part of our intentional design philosophy. We want to encourage people to slow down, be more thoughtful, and genuinely consider the people they’re viewing rather than endlessly swiping through hundreds of profiles.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts; feedback like this truly helps us continue refining SacredSpark!

### 3/5 — Had a lot of hope

*2026-04-06*

So I have been using this app for a few days, I know people who have had good luck on the creators matchmaking threads and was hoping the app would be a new option for Catholics aside from the abysmal Catholic Match. First impressions are the app looks good, and is easy to navigate. Requires you to start with a voice introduction (though I have found multiple profiles that just have silence in theirs and let it run for 30 seconds so no one seems to be checking on those. They limit how many profiles you can view every day to 15, to make the experience more “intentional” and less like swiping culture… unless you’re willing to pay in which case swipe away. They blur all the pictures except for 1 on each of the profiles to try and make the matches more than just appearance, so you can consider the whole person… once again unless you wanna pay, then you get access to all the pictures. You’re are limited to 3 likes a day… but if you want to pay, you get the drill. Is it better than Catholicmatch? Yes. I just wish they would stop trying to dress up why they have the paywalls and just admit they are a business and they want the money.

I do still think there is hope for this app and that’s why I’m giving it 3 stars, it’s still small enough they can fix some of these issue without major disruption and improve overall user experience.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thanks so much for being here! We're so glad you're enjoying the app and are hopeful! Regarding the optional premium plan; in an ideal world everything could be completely free, but realistically we have to make sure the platform can sustain itself; from development and infrastructure to support and safety. Our goal is simply to structure things in a way that allows the mission to continue long-term.

### 2/5 — No matches and janky

*2026-03-28, version 1.0.352*

The app is an absolute penny pincher. The free version does literally nothing.

### 5/5 — Wonderful Catholic app

*2026-03-23, version 1.0.352*

This app is made wonderfully they put real time and intention in it and it shows. I’d suggest using this app if you’re serious about finding your future husband or wife. Great people are on here looking to build a family centered on Christ Jesus and his one Holy Apostolic Catholic Church.

### 3/5 — Ugh this app is awful

*2026-03-17, version 1.0.344*

Can you guys please put some money into this app like you guys are not updating this thing at all? It hasn’t updated since it launched and it has so many problems.
I really don’t like this app and it’s the only catholic app that I think that’s worth investing in because it’s new
You have so many fraud issues on this thing oh my God just hire me already
If you guys don’t update this app in the next two months, I’m just gonna get off of it

### 5/5 — Blessed and thankful

*2026-03-14, version 1.0.344*

Thank you Emily and Daniel for creating this dating app for Catholic singles to meet! I met my fiancé on the app and we are engaged.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2026-03-12, version 1.0.344*

This is a wonderful app!

### 5/5 — MET THE ONE

*2026-03-04, version 1.0.337*

I met a man that I know is my husband to be, a month into downloading the app. I love that when I DM’d SacredSpark on Instagram and requested they added “cantor” to job description, they did it within the hour. I LOVE that this is a CATHOLIC dating app and I LOVE that I found the man that I KNOW WILL BE my husband! He bought his ticket to fly to me A WEEK after we matched and now I’ll be flying to the Midwest to meet his family! 🩵🩵 THANK YOU SacredSpark! 😭😭😭

### 5/5 — Good stuff

*2026-02-25, version 1.0.327*

Perfect app for Catholic YA’s

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can’t create account

*2026-06-08, version 1.0.384*

I have heard great things about this app and was excited to try it. However, I am unable to get past the audio introduction portion while setting up my account. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but nothing seems to work. Super disappointing as I was looking forward to giving this app a chance.

### 1/5 — App sucks

*2026-06-07, version 1.0.384*

You get like two swipes and then it tells you to buy premium.

### 1/5 — It’s bad

*2026-06-06, version 1.0.384*

Assumed this app would crash and burn and over promise and under deliver.

Lots of bugs and it simply just does not work well, maybe in a year or so but at best it feels likes beta version app that’s not fully developed

### 1/5 — Restricted viewing backfires

*2026-05-07, version 1.0.374*

Because you can only see one photo (and good portion of people don’t know how to take a good photo/get cropped out by the apps UI), even those you give a chance might immediately get rejected upon matching, which is rather hurtful. Even worse when the stakes are high with only 15 views a day. These restrictions aren’t making people more considerate, because there is less information being provided. The developers of this app seem to ignore that fact that physical attraction is a real and important thing in a relationship. Of course not the only thing, but it is a huge aspect.

So disappointing.

### 1/5 — 30$??

*2026-04-06, version 1.0.359*

The free features are less than other apps, but it’s super, super expensive. Capitalism at its worst…

### 1/5 — Doesn’t live up to the hype!

*2026-02-11*

If I could give this app zero stars, I would. SacredSpark was marketed as a dating app that would be more impactful for Catholic dating with young adults, but that wasn’t my experience at all.

While I appreciate the intent to take a different approach, the app feels extremely limited, restricted likes, blurred photos, and a 24-hour wait to see who liked your profile. The roll out of the app by diocese seemed unnecessary. Having a paid premium subscription is not any different than other dating apps. The overall app experience does not feel innovative.

What really stood out was an email from the Safety Team stating my profile was restricted because my audio introduction didn’t meet authenticity guidelines, and that my account would be banned if I didn’t re-record it. I chose to have my account deleted(banned) because I’m uncomfortable providing a voice recording. While I understand the importance of safety, it’s unclear how a voice recording actually verifies identity or prevents impersonation, scams, or fake profiles—especially when voices can easily be recorded, altered, or reused. This mandatory requirement feels flawed and unnecessary.

SacredSpark offers nothing that sets it apart from other dating apps. I won’t be recommending it to my single Catholic friends.

**Developer response:** Hi Austin,

A few clarifications. SacredSpark is intentionally designed to slow dating down, we encourage intentionality, not endless swiping. There is no automatic 24-hour wait to see who liked you, that only occurs after you’ve already received and viewed multiple free daily likes.

We roll out diocese by diocese to prevent “deadzones” and ensure strong local communities as hyper-local filtering only works well when there is enough critical mass.

Regarding safety: your account was flagged after a report. Our safety team reached out to you multiple times requesting a simple 5–25 second audio introduction to confirm authenticity. This is one of several safeguards we use to protect users from impersonation, bots, and bad actors. Your account was ultimately removed for not adhering to those safety protocols and cooperating with our safety team.

SacredSpark is intentionally different, and it won’t be for everyone, but we'll never compromise on safety, intentionality, and real connection.

We wish you the best in your search for a meaningful relationship, and feel free to contact our safety team anytime if you wish to return!

### 1/5 — I really wanted to like this

*2026-01-31*

I actually feel guilty leaving a bad review for a Christian app. But the developers are not doing what they claim to help us find marriage partners. I am on HOLY, Hinge, and Facebook dating and I get tons of matches every week. I’ve never gotten a single match on this app. It’s the most restrictive dating app I’ve ever used in my life. I don’t like the other apps I mentioned because they’re either secular or Protestant based. We really needed an option for Catholics, but this just wasn’t it. They need to lift the restrictions off of this app un blur the pictures and let us talk to one another. We should be promoting the matching of Catholic couples so we can get married and have children in this terrible time. We live in. I understand you need to make money, but there are other ways to do that such as advertising and less restrictive measures to promote people to pay for the app. Whoever is in charge of overseeing the way this app is programmed and works is making a lot of bad decisions unfortunately. I want to have grace with them and assume they just don’t know what they’re doing yet and will find their way soon but right now I can’t recommend this app to anybody who’s actually looking to meet a partner.

**Developer response:** Hi Adam, Thank you for taking the time to share this. We hear the frustration and the hope behind it.

SacredSpark is intentionally more restrictive than traditional dating apps, not to block connection, but to address what many Catholics tell us isn’t working: high match volume with little movement toward real connection or discernment. Our design choices are meant to prioritize depth over volume and humanize the person behind the profile.

A quick clarification that may help: main profile photos and videos are always unblurred, and once you match you can message freely and see all other photos and video as well without paying or unlocking anything: instant unlimited messaging is always part of the core experience. We’re also introducing in-app video calling in the next two weeks, which will also be instantly available to everyone to help move conversations into more real, personal encounters.

Your desire for marriage, family, and faithful Catholic community is exactly why SacredSpark exists. We know this approach won’t feel right for everyone, and we’re still learning, refining, and listening closely as we improve. We’re grateful you shared this honestly and with grace, and we remain committed to serving the Church better each day.

### 1/5 — Admin

*2026-01-15, version 1.0.290*

They’ll just decide your face pictures “don’t align” with their values and deactivate your account. Absolutely ridiculous.

### 1/5 — Not for us “older” folk

*2026-01-09, version 1.0.281*

Perhaps it is working out for those in their 20’s and 30’s. As an older Catholic women I shouldn’t be surprised but I am discouraged. I send likes and will maybe get a match in return but I have yet to receive any likes from men in my own age bracket. This is not the app for women in their 40’s.

### 1/5 — Horrible sign up

*2026-01-05, version 1.0.281*

Can't get my time back

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Picking up momentum

*2026-08-15*

I’ll admit—when this app first came out, I was disappointed. The marketing campaign before it launched was extremely good, so my expectations were high. Initially, there were some suspect product decisions, such as not being able to see any pics of the person until matching. But SacredSpark listened to feedback and iterated extremely quickly! Now this is my favorite dating app. I like how the app is set up, and I am seeing really great Catholic men on this app, some of whom I’ve gone on dates with! My success rate on this app is much higher than on others! I haven’t met the one yet, but SacredSpark gives me hope that he’s really out there and that I might just meet him on this app!

### 5/5 — Very amazing!

*2026-08-05*

I cannot say enough good things about this app! Yes, you are limited on the amount of likes each day but I think it’s appropriate for this type of dating app. I truly feel that I am able to meet new Catholics and possible pursue getting to know someone without fearing they aren’t interested. Emily and her husband have done an amazing job creating this app! I highly recommend for any young single Catholic! Whether you are looking for a relationship, or meeting new young Catholics fired up on their faith!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to leave a review! We're praying you meet someone special. God bless!

### 5/5 — Catholic Dating Made Easier

*2026-07-24*

This app came into my life exactly when I needed it. Frustrated with failed relationships over matters of faith, I vowed to only date practicing Catholics. The Catholic dating pool in my immediate area is SMALL, but about 1.5 hours away, a tall handsome and incredibly faithful Catholic man was looking for someone to love the Lord with. I liked his profile, and the rest is history. Go say your prayers, then download sacred spark. And don’t be lame and skip the voice note intro.

### 5/5 — Just got engaged!

*2026-07-20, version 1.0.390*

My fiancée and I just got engaged and we met through SacredSpark. Like almost all things in life, it’s about how much effort you put into it. I will forever be thankful for the team at SacredSpark for playing a critical role in my life! Deo Gratias!

### 5/5 — LOVEEE

*2026-07-11, version 1.0.390*

If you’re single— GET THIS APP. Online dating is hard and it’s not getting easier. But had a ton of success here! Going on a 3rd date!!

### 5/5 — Thankful for this app

*2026-06-11, version 1.0.384*

Met someone amazing from this app and it was such a great experience.

### 5/5 — Created by a power couple who know what we need!

*2026-06-06, version 1.0.384*

This app is modern, clean, user-friendly, and embodies what I was looking for as a single Catholic. I met someone special thanks to SacredSpark. I will forever be grateful for this app. Give it a try, it’s worth it!

### 5/5 — Look deeper

*2026-04-12, version 1.0.359*

You can actually use the free version! I like that it makes you wait to see more pictures and gives you a limit to how many people you can “like” in a day. It really does make you focus more on each person.

### 5/5 — I met my fiancé here

*2026-04-09, version 1.0.359*

I proposed to her on Monday. We matched in November. Praise be to God

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2026-03-28, version 1.0.352*

Game changer. Give it a shot. ADMG
