## What is Safe Whisper?

Safe Whisper is built for private conversations that should not live forever.

Every conversation is ephemeral, end-to-end encrypted, and designed to expire automatically. There is no contacts access, no social graph, and no personal profile required. You choose who joins, how long the conversation lasts, and when it disappears.

For maximum security, Safe Whisper supports in-person QR code key exchange. Scan each other’s QR codes to verify encryption keys directly between devices. The private encryption key never leaves the device, is never sent over the internet, and is never stored on our servers.

Safe Whisper has been rebuilt from the original single-whisper experience into a full private conversation app.

  Send and receive encrypted messages in a cleaner chat experience, with delivery and read status support.

  Share encrypted photos, documents, audio, video, and other files directly inside conversations.

  • In-person QR code key exchange
  Verify encryption keys by scanning a QR code in person. Private keys stay on the devices and are never sent to the server.

  • Web join support
  Invite someone to join a conversation through a secure web experience when needed.

  • Expiring conversation controls
  Choose how long a conversation should remain available, from short-lived chats to longer temporary discussions.

  • Read receipt control
  Manage whether others can see when you have read messages.

  • Apple-managed subscription trial
  Eligible users can start with a one-month free trial managed by Apple.

  • Stronger security protections
  This version adds App Attest support, certificate pinning, hardened device validation, improved storage handling, and additional runtime security checks.

  • Better reliability
  Message sync, delivery receipts, offline recovery, notifications, file transfer, and conversation cleanup have all been improved.

This update is a major step forward from the first version, turning Safe Whisper into a secure, ephemeral messaging app for private conversations that should not live forever.
