Absolutely loved it and used it daily. It was the best pediatric app for medication dosing I’ve ever seen. For some reason the developer thought an update was needed to a perfectly working and excellent app. I’ve now used this updated version for a few shifts on my job and find it to be cumbersome and now slow. It used to be instant results, but now there’s a delay. There are more features that I personally don’t need and never will use. I doubt the average practitioner would ever use them either no matter what area of peds they work in. The average clinician just needs the dose for the drug. The rest is extraneous material that no one has the time get in to with the fast pace environments that we all work in. All Another huge disappointment was the new subscription fees that are very costly, a huge increase to what it was prior. I used to personally promote this app to all the new practitioners I mentor, but now I do so with reservations because of the cost. Unfortunately, I will be ending my subscription at the end of next month. ### 3/5 — Great until last update *2015-07-09, version 4.3* I loved the app until the last update. I wish I hadn't updated this. Now it's almost useless to me. ### 3/5 — Good Potential, Great Price *2014-07-04, version 3.75* W/out a registered Artemis ID you won't find Tylenol, or zofran listed here, conservative dosing guidelines noted to some OTC meds listed. Dr Broselow is a genius and this app isn't w/ out good research and can be used by many. I'll have to see what other drugs are missing from this. ### 5/5 — My hospital uses this *2012-06-13, version 2.0* I am an RN and work in an ER that has a high Peds census. My hospital uses the Artemis eBroslow system. Any pedi medicine has to be looked up, printed out, labeled and placed in the chart at our facility. As far as the one negative review: the complaint of no insulin dosages for DKA is false. This app has "grey" weights representing adult dosages. Anyone familiar with the broslow system knows that it was developed for Peds so looking up adults would be better suited in another app. But if you look up DKA under a pedi weight or color code there are plenty more options besides just bolus of fluids for DKA. Before you look up a med or category you have to scroll to the weight or broslow color. THEN you can go to categories or alphabetical look up or search. I would recommend that the maker have a brief tutorial the first time the app is opened up. I knew how to use it b/c I use the same system at work. A tutorial could clear up any confusion. ### 5/5 — Great app *2012-06-02, version 2.0* As an ER MD I use this app a lot - pretty much every shift I work in a community hospital with about 20% peds. Adult dosing is very standard but peds gets complex and most apps make dosing a huge pain. Responding to a previous reviewer (elguapo1218), sorry but we can find no record of any emails or other correspondence from you. We are proud to be extremely responsive - returning emails within 24 hours even over the weekend. Insulin dosing for DKA does indeed exist for children in the app. It does not exist for adults because there are too many variables involved for adults to safely indicate a single "standard dose". We are considering removing the category altogether for adults. But we stand by our content which has been peer reviewed by many doctors, nurses and pharmacists and in use by hundreds of hospitals and thousands of medical professionals over the past three years. ### 2/5 — Disappointed *2012-05-24, version 2.0* I really wanted to like this App. It has some features that seem very useful. Unfortunately, when I was browsing through the categories, I looked up DKA. The only information under that category was on a giving a fluid Bolus. Nothing about insulin. I found info about insulin by looking up insulin in the alphabetical drug list. This makes me feel like I can't trust this App. I look up DKA, and I know that important information is missing. If I look up something more obscure, I might not realize that something is missing. I have tried to contact the developer both through the App and via their website prior to posting a negative review and there was no response to either attempt. At this time I feel that I can't trust the completeness of this App, and the developer does not seem to be responsive to concerns. That's pretty much the kiss of death for a medical App as far as I'm concerned. I really hope they fix things and change my opinion! ### 5/5 — Great app! *2011-09-07, version 1.05* This app helped save a 2-year olds life tonight. I recommend it to all fellow pharmacists working in an ED setting. ### 5/5 — Avoid & Eliminate Error *2011-07-24, version 1.05* This app is an absolute must have for any healthcare professional who administers meds to children. As a pediatric home care nurse my calculations must be impeccable as I am in the home alone & have no one to run to who will double check my math. Pedi safe dose does the double check for me. Thank you for giving me the confidence I need to administer medications dosages accurately. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — No longer free access *2024-01-03* Tried to log into my old account and all old accounts have been deactivated. This is no subscription service of $24 per month. Nothing on the information page identifies these changes or that it is a subscription now. It was a great resource for nurses and paramedics, and its prior life. ### 1/5 — From non-subscription to subscription *2023-12-16, version 13.0* I paid a full version for $20 when apps were at $0.99. I never asked for updates. I was ok using the prior version and all of a sudden they changed it to exorbitant subscription prices ### 1/5 — Yanking an emergency app is … dangerous *2023-09-30, version 13.0* Most of my work is in the outpatient clinic and the newborn nursery, but I do occasionally get called to pediatric emergencies. I bought this app years ago and was very happy to have it on my phone and accessible. I did, in fact, use it several times in the emergency room. I received no notice whatsoever that my access to this app would no longer be valid. I recommended to all of my colleagues. I have used the app for over two years while working as an emergency medicine physician. I tried to open the app today and I cannot access the information. Safe Dose has decided to go to a subscription based model (after selling me the app). This is poor form to block content after selling an app to a customer. Tried to call customer service and got a recording. Too bad. Deleting the app now. Would no longer recommend, especially for $100/year.
