I then had to initiate a dialog with their support to get the issue resolved and most of the time was asked to reinstall the app. I finally gave up and unsubscribed. But no, the issue was still not over. This time again I was charged although their website correctly mentioned my account’s status to be expired. Filing yet another complaint, they simply asked me to request the refund from Apple. I am still waiting on a resolution. Overall, extremely poor billing integration that they are unable to resolve despite repeated issues. ### 1/5 — Not looking good so far *2019-10-29, version 4.9.3* So 4 hours ago I paid and downloaded the app for my MacBook- gave it a try and thought ‘yay’. Then I received a message that my trial period is over? By chance I checked my email and there was one from SaferVPN asking me to send photos of my credit card for verification? Did that - admittedly I misread the rather odd directions and did it twice. - 4 hours later nothing. Did online chat, was told I would receive an email shortly - still nothing. The payment is already showing as a debit on my bank account and yet I have no access to the service! This is not off to a good start. ### 1/5 — Problems with their payment system *2019-09-19, version 4.9.3* The app works as it should. However, this company seems to have problems with its payment system, as other reviewers have mentioned. In essence it kept on refusing my PayPal payments (which works fine for the myriad other auto payments I use it for), so that I kept on getting the extremely annoying “your trial has ended” notice. I talked to customer service several times, who fixed it temporarily and assured me the issue should not occur again, but yet it does. With so many other VPN services to choose from, there’s no reason to choose one with this kind of annoyance. ### 1/5 — Website is borked, can’t subscribe. *2018-12-20, version 4.9.3* I tried for 45 minutes to subscribe for one month, but kept getting redirected to their “winter special page “. I tried the online chat, but the person on the other end was extremely slow and no help at all. By writing this review I can extend my free trial another three days. That should be enough time to find another VPN with a working website. ### 1/5 — Purchase at your own risk *2018-06-05, version 4.9.3* I purchased this app so I could use other apps overseas. The trial worked just fine but when I tried purchasing, my payment was refunded for some reason. Tried purchasing again twice in which one payment never went through and the other did with my phone. Somehow, with a valid invoice, my app kept saying my trial was expired and I needed to pay yet again. Customer service never responded to my questions and attempts at contact. Then, when trying to be refunded for my “service,” I had to speak to at least 6 people to finally get my subscription canceled and be told to contact apple for a refund. They did finally try to offer solutions at this point, however, it’s a little too late since I’m back from vacation and I no longer have a need for the service. Their customer service might actually be helpful and knowledgeable, but as far as actually listening to what their customer is asking for, they are terrible. ### 1/5 — Do not trust - beware *2018-03-17, version 4.9* I am not sure how they are “safe”. They charged me twice through my Apple account and then sent me an email bill. When I pointed out that they not only charged me twice for one month, and they were still asking for more, they apologized and said they extended my membership. I have tried to log in multiple times only to be blocked. I contacted the help desk several times only to be told all should be fine. When I demanded a refund for the month I already paid for no service, I heard zero. They will take your money and that’s it, completely untrustworthy. Beware!!! ### 2/5 — Great when it works… *2021-03-08, version 5.0.1* When it works, SaferVPN does everything it claims, and does it well. It has great features to simplify and automate using a VPN regularly. But it rarely works. Most of the time when I connect, Internet access (web, email, apps) just ceases, not tuning out, and not loading, like I have the slowest connection since using a 1200 baud modem. And it’s not just a problem with iOS; it’s exactly the same problem on macOS, too. Support is nearly non-existent. I have tried repeatedly to contact them. Sometimes they respond; sometimes they don’t. When they have responded, they have eventually ghosted on me part-way through troubleshooting. I can only suppose that this is a known issue that they can’t fix and don’t want to admit to having. ### 2/5 — Horrible customer service *2019-06-05, version 4.9.3* I had this service and when it was up for renewal, I had reason to contact customer service. They were demeaning with lack of consideration. I canceled the service after being made to feel inferior and stupid. Done.
