Saffra is an AI chef whose recipes are finished before you ask. Most recipes fail in the same place: they assume. "Season to taste." "Cook until done." A pan you don't own. Saffra's library is built the other way round — against a standard every recipe clears before it ships. THE STANDARD, IN FOUR RULES 1. Every ingredient carries a measured amount and a note on how to prep it. Never "some parsley." 2. The equipment is listed before step one — so you find out you don't own the pan while you're still reading, not with the onions in. 3. Every step says what done looks like. Golden. Fragrant. Pulling away from the side of the pan. Not just how many minutes. 4. A timer only goes on a step you can genuinely walk away from. Measured across the 2,300+ recipes in the library today: 99.9% of ingredients carry an amount, 97.2% say how to prep it, every recipe lists its equipment, and 99.3% name a sensory cue for the moment it's ready. Every recipe declares its allergens. Each recipe is written three times by three AI chef personas — Classic, Modern, Foodie — then merged into one and measured against that standard. Nothing is improvised the moment you ask. KNOW BEFORE YOU COOK Rule 4 buys you what recipe apps never tell you: which minutes are actually yours. Hands-on and total time sit inline — 15 min hands-on, 25 min total — so a three-hour braise reads as the forty-five minutes of work it is, and a "quick" dinner can't hide half an hour at the stove. Where a dish has no honest split, Saffra shows the total and says so. THEN IT'S REWRITTEN FOR YOU Tell Saffra once about your equipment, diet, allergies and skill level. Open any recipe and she rewrites it for your kitchen: allergies are non-negotiable, substitutions come from your pantry first, steps are rebuilt around the equipment you own. Ask her anything as you cook — substitutions, technique, what to do with what's in the fridge. She remembers the conversation. COOK HANDS-FREE Start a recipe and Saffra reads each step aloud. Say "next," "repeat," or ask a question with flour on your hands. Speech is transcribed by Apple's speech recognition service, and when the kitchen is loud the clip may also go to our server for a second pass. Timers run as Live Activities on your Lock Screen — free for everyone. YOUR PANTRY, HANDLED Add ingredients by hand or scan a barcode. Saffra tracks what you have, what's expiring, and what's safe for you. Snap your receipt with Pro: it's read on your iPhone and only the extracted text is sent. Fridge and counter photos are uploaded for ingredient recognition — capped on free; Pro lifts the cap. Includes updated App Store screenshots and smaller accessibility and reliability fixes throughout the app. ### 1.2 — 2026-09-08 Fixes, mostly to things that were quietly broken. The keyboard's Send key now sends. On the chat screen — and on the first-run questions — the blue Send arrow on the iPhone keyboard was adding a blank line instead of sending your message. Both send now. Reaching your free message limit no longer swallows what you wrote. Your message used to sit on screen with no reply and no way to retry, and sending again just stacked another copy of it. Now it goes back into the text box exactly as you typed it, photos and all — and if you do subscribe, it sends itself and Saffra answers, rather than asking you to type it out a second time. The same goes everywhere else a limit interrupts you. A scanned receipt, a photo of your fridge, a recipe link you pasted — all of that used to be discarded. It is kept now, so you never have to shoot or paste it a second time. Saffra's answers stay on screen. Asking a second question could scroll the reply out of view behind a small arrow you had to notice and tap. Barcode scans past the monthly free limit used to fail silently, showing nothing at all. The subscription screen has been rebuilt: no empty band at the top, the price and the button both visible without scrolling, and the yearly plan now shows what it actually saves you. ### 1.1 — 2026-08-28 Recipes now show you how they're made: tap The Saffra Standard on any recipe — written three times over by three AI chef personas, merged into one, and measured against the standard before it ships. Ask Saffra to scale a dish, swap an ingredient or work around an allergy, and your version is kept. Find it any time under "Adapted for you" on the Recipes tab, cook it step by step, and shop for the version you'll actually make. Rate a dish the moment you finish cooking it — no need to adapt it first — and Saffra uses what you loved to pick better next time.
