## What is Sailing Handicap Calculator?

The best and most popular sailing handicap calculator app on on the market.  It is commonly used by sailors and race committees all around the world.  It supports all the major worldwide sailing race handicap systems.

The app calculates the handicapped corrected times for a race and shows the results in order.    The elapsed times can be entered manually or automatically by using the built in timer feature.  This works by pressing the finish button for each boat as they go over the line to automatically record their elapsed times.   The race start time can be started using a timer count down or by entering a start time.

This app is compatible with ORC (Time on Distance and Time on Time), IRC, PHRF (Time on Distance and Time on Time), Portsmouth UK and Portsmouth US handicap.  Simply select the handicap option you want to use.

Use the ORC Download feature (In App Purchase) to automatically populate any of the ORC handicap values for any boat with a valid ORC certificate.    While scrolling through the ORC boats you can view the sail number, boat length,  boat class/design,  build year, builder, weight, draft, beam, sail area for each sail, wetted surface area and more.

The results can be emailed as a table in the body of the email and also attached as a CSV file (Excel Compatible spreadsheet file).

Works well, like it. However would it be possible to allow ‘boat entry’ to sort alphabetically plus add in the PYA automatically.

Great app for OOD but would do a little better if could have the option to add columns to enter helm/crew name, boat type and category. Then allow all these data to be sorted with a filter just like on Excel Spreadsheets.

To use the application, you must manually enter the handicap values for each boat. Not very practical. This information should be integrated. It is not mentionned in the description. I just wasted 7$.

A good little app that does what it claims, but is quite expensive. For the price it needs a few more features:
1) the facility to calculate average lap times
2) extra fields for sail number and class rather than just 'name'.
3) ability to export the finished results as a csv spreadsheet for incorporation into series results software.
If your club uses sail wave then this app is not for you, but in a small club or in an open boat where using a laptop is impractical this app is quite useful. With a little development it could be really good.

The latest version of this app does support average lap and it also does support exporting and emailing the results in CSV format (Excel).  The boat name field is text input so there is nothing stopping you from entering the sail number or other info in this field if you wish.

This is a very handy little app that would be vastly improved with the ability to add starting & finishing times and hence calculate elapsed times as well as corrected times instead of just relying on the inbuilt timer. 

It seems to me the market for this is yachties wanting a rough idea of how they've gone in a race rather than race officials, to whom it appears to be aimed.
