## What is SailorsLog?

Your sailing journal — every passage, remembered.

SailorsLog turns your days on the water into a logbook worth rereading: where you went, who was aboard, what the wind did, and the photos and track that bring it all back. Made for coastal sailors and cruisers, it works fully offline and keeps everything on your device first.

RECORD THE PASSAGE, WRITE IT LATER
• Track Recorder: Tap Record as you cast off. SailorsLog quietly captures your route in the background, even with the screen locked. When you write the entry that evening, the map fills itself. Your first recording is free.
• GPX Import: Bring in tracks from Navionics or your chartplotter.
• Photos on the Map: Pictures pin themselves to your route using their location data.
• The Details that Matter: Log wind, sea state, crew, distance and engine hours alongside your story.

SHARE THE STORY
• Postcards: Turn a passage into a magazine-style image for friends, family or social media in a single tap.
• PDF Export: A printable A4 page per passage, or your whole logbook with a cover.
• Your Own Website (Captain): Publish the passages you choose at yourname.sailorslog.io, so family and friends can follow along: your words, your photos at full width, your track on the chart. Nothing goes public until you say so, and unpublishing never touches the original on your device.

LOOK BACK ON YOUR SEASON
SailorsLog adds up what your logbook already holds: distance sailed, engine hours, passages logged and your longest voyage, for All Time or This Year. The miles you've covered, ready to revisit on a winter evening.

OFFLINE FIRST, SYNCS WHEN YOU'RE BACK
Every entry is saved on your device the moment you type it, with no signal needed. Text syncs using minimal data, while photos and tracks wait for Wi-Fi or your go-ahead, so satellite bandwidth stays yours. Start an entry on your iPad at the chart table and finish it on your iPhone in your bunk; edits made on different devices, even offline, merge without overwriting each other.

FREE TO START
Log your first 10 entries free, with a photo on each and one recorded passage — enough for a weekend or a charter week. No account required.

SKIPPER (yearly)
• Unlimited entries and up to 10 photos per entry
• Track Recorder for every passage
• Cloud sync and backup across iPhone, iPad and Mac
• Clean postcards and PDFs without the "SailorsLog Free" watermark
• All postcard styles

CAPTAIN (yearly)
• Everything in Skipper
• Your logbook on the web at your own address, yourname.sailorslog.io
• Search-friendly pages and an RSS feed for your followers

BUILT BY SAILORS
SailorsLog is made by cruising sailors. Every feature solves something we met on the water: patchy connectivity, several devices aboard, and wanting to remember the voyage properly.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.1.13 — 2026-09-27

Try the Track Recorder for free, and a few friendlier touches:

• Record one passage on the free plan: tap Record as you cast off and watch the map fill itself when you write the entry.
• Postcards and PDFs you share by message, mail or social now include a small link, so friends can find SailorsLog. Subscribers can turn it off with the "SailorsLog Credit" setting.
• Upgrade options now appear where they're useful, and the upgrade screen offers a retry when the App Store can't be reached.
• Captain: your website goes live on its own a few minutes after you choose its address. Your ship page, entries with long titles, and edits made on your other device reach your website.
• Send feedback or rate SailorsLog from Settings → About.

Thank you for sailing with SailorsLog.

### 2.1.12 — 2026-08-07

Engine-hours statistics now read your hour-meter correctly, and captured place names appear in English on your published logbook. Plus small fixes and polish.

### 2.1.11 — 2026-08-06

Your logbook goes online.

SHARE YOUR VOYAGE WITH THE WORLD
Give your logbook a home on the web at your own address — yourname.sailorslog.io. Publish the passages you choose, and family and friends can follow your trip on a clean, handsome site that is entirely yours: your words, your photos at full width, your track on the chart. Nothing goes public until you say so, and unpublishing never touches the original on your device. Every entry is a proper, search-friendly page, with an RSS feed for the readers who like to follow along quietly.

Web publishing is part of the new Captain subscription tier. Everything in Skipper, plus your own published logbook, a custom subdomain, and an RSS feed.

As always, this release includes refinements and fixes to keep your logbook fast and reliable, on passage and in port.

Fair winds!

### 1.5.3 — 2026-06-10

A quieter release: a way to look back at your season, and a little help keeping the engine on schedule.

Statistics – a new screen for the numbers your logbook already holds: total distance sailed, total engine hours, how many passages you've made, and your longest one. Tap to switch between All Time and This Year.

Engine hours made easier – jot your engine hour-meter reading at the start and end of a passage and SailorsLog works out the running time for you.

Engine service reminder – set a service interval in Settings and SailorsLog keeps a running "hours to go" count, with a gentle nudge on the Statistics screen when a service comes due. No notifications, nothing to switch on.

### v1.4.2 — 2026-05-25

Your phone in your pocket now draws the trace through the entry's map.

Tap Record before you cast off, and SailorsLog quietly captures your sailing route in the background — even with the screen locked. When you sit down to write the entry later, the map fills itself. No GPX import from the chartplotter, no fiddling.

A few details:
• Battery-friendly on-device recording
• Survives suspensions and iOS restarts
• Recordings wait in a pool until you're ready to attach them to an entry
• Adjustable detail (50/100/250/500 m) for coastal hops vs ocean passages

One small ask: please don't swipe SailorsLog out of the app switcher during a passage — iOS treats that as "I'm done," and the recorder can't quietly come back. The app will prompt you to resume next time you open it.
