## What is SailorsLog?

Capture the spirit of your voyage, even miles offshore.

SailorsLog is the digital logbook designed specifically for the modern cruiser. Whether you are crossing oceans on satellite internet or island-hopping with sporadic connectivity, your entries are saved instantly on your device and synced intelligently when you are back online.

OFFLINE-FIRST, ALWAYS RELIABLE
Write detailed passage notes, log weather conditions, note your engine hour-meter readings, and document your crew – all without an internet connection. SailorsLog is "Local-First," meaning your data is stored safely on your device the moment you type it.

BUILT FOR SATELLITE BANDWIDTH
We know data at sea is expensive. Text entries sync instantly using minimal data, while heavy photos and GPX tracks wait for Wi-Fi or your explicit command. You stay in control of your bandwidth.

TURN DATA INTO A STORY
• Rich Media: Add photos to every entry. The app automatically extracts coordinates from EXIF data to pin them to your map.
• Native Track Recorder: Tap Record before you cast off, and SailorsLog quietly captures your route in the background – even with the screen locked. When you write the entry later, the map fills itself. No chartplotter required.
• GPX Visualization: Import tracks from your chartplotter to visualize your route alongside your narrative.
• Postcards: Generate beautiful, magazine-style images of your ship or daily log to share on social media with a single tap.

SHARE YOUR VOYAGE WITH THE WORLD
Give your logbook a home on the web at your own address — yourname.sailorslog.io. Publish the passages you choose, and family and friends can follow your trip on a clean, handsome site that is entirely yours: your words, your photos at full width, your track on the chart. Nothing goes public until you say so, and unpublishing never touches the original on your device. Each entry is a proper, search-friendly page with its own RSS feed for the readers who like to follow along quietly.

LOOK BACK ON YOUR SEASON
SailorsLog adds up the numbers your logbook already holds—total distance sailed, engine hours run, passages logged, and your longest voyage. Tap to switch between All Time and This Year. The miles you've covered, ready to revisit on a winter evening.

SEAMLESS SYNC & BACKUP
Start a log entry on your iPad at the chart table, then finish it on your iPhone in your bunk. SailorsLog uses intelligent field-level conflict resolution to merge edits from multiple devices without overwriting data—even if you edited them while offline.

DARK MODE READY
Fully supports iOS Dark Mode, making it easy on the eyes during night watches or in low-light cabins.

FREE TO START, PREMIUM TO PROTECT
SailorsLog allows you to log your first 10 entries completely free—perfect for a weekend trip or a week-long charter. No account required to start.

Created by offshore cruisers, every feature solves a real problem faced at sea: bandwidth limitations, device synchronization, and the need to document the adventure.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.1.12 — 2026-08-07

Engine-hours statistics now read your hour-meter correctly, and captured place names appear in English on your published logbook. Plus small fixes and polish.

### 2.1.11 — 2026-08-06

Your logbook goes online.

Every entry is a proper, search-friendly page, with an RSS feed for the readers who like to follow along quietly.

Web publishing is part of the new Captain subscription tier. Everything in Skipper, plus your own published logbook, a custom subdomain, and an RSS feed.

As always, this release includes refinements and fixes to keep your logbook fast and reliable, on passage and in port.

Fair winds!

### 1.5.3 — 2026-06-10

A quieter release: a way to look back at your season, and a little help keeping the engine on schedule.

Statistics – a new screen for the numbers your logbook already holds: total distance sailed, total engine hours, how many passages you've made, and your longest one. Tap to switch between All Time and This Year.

Engine hours made easier – jot your engine hour-meter reading at the start and end of a passage and SailorsLog works out the running time for you.

Engine service reminder – set a service interval in Settings and SailorsLog keeps a running "hours to go" count, with a gentle nudge on the Statistics screen when a service comes due. No notifications, nothing to switch on.

### v1.4.2 — 2026-05-25

Your phone in your pocket now draws the trace through the entry's map.

Tap Record before you cast off, and SailorsLog quietly captures your sailing route in the background — even with the screen locked. When you sit down to write the entry later, the map fills itself. No GPX import from the chartplotter, no fiddling.

A few details:
• Battery-friendly on-device recording
• Survives suspensions and iOS restarts
• Recordings wait in a pool until you're ready to attach them to an entry
• Adjustable detail (50/100/250/500 m) for coastal hops vs ocean passages

One small ask: please don't swipe SailorsLog out of the app switcher during a passage — iOS treats that as "I'm done," and the recorder can't quietly come back. The app will prompt you to resume next time you open it.

### 1.3.3 — 2026-03-22

Small UI improvements.
