## What is Salary Calculator UK 2026/27?

Enter your salary. See exactly what reaches your bank account.

Salary Calculator UK works out your take-home pay for the 2026/27 tax year, then shows the working band by band, so you can see why the number is what it is.

WHAT IT COVERS
- Income tax for England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, including all six Scottish bands
- Employee National Insurance
- All five student loan plans, including Plan 5, which began repaying for the first time in April 2026
- Postgraduate loans, alone or alongside an undergraduate plan
- Pension contributions as salary sacrifice, a net pay arrangement or relief at source, because those three do not cost you the same
- Your tax code, including K codes, BR, D0, D1, NT and the S and C prefixes
- One-off bonuses, showing how much of the bonus you keep
- Blind Person's Allowance, and no National Insurance from State Pension age
- Salary entered by the year, or converted from hourly, daily or weekly pay

BUILT TO BE RIGHT
The personal allowance taper above 100,000 pounds is handled properly, so the app shows the 62% marginal rate people in that band really face rather than the 52% a simpler calculator reports.

Every figure is checked against a 66-case test suite covering each band boundary, the taper zone, every student loan plan, each pension arrangement and a range of tax codes. The expected answers come from an independent second implementation, not from the app agreeing with itself.

RATES THAT STAY CURRENT
Tax rates are downloaded rather than hardcoded. When a Budget changes something, the app can update without waiting on an App Store release. Settings always shows which tax year is loaded and when it was last verified.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
Your salary never leaves your phone. The calculation runs entirely on your device. There are no accounts, no sign-up and nothing to create a password for.

FREE, AND AD SUPPORTED
Every calculator feature above is free. The app is paid for by advertising: one banner, and a single full-screen ad per session, shown only once you open the detailed working rather than while you are typing. No calculation is held back behind a purchase.

PRO, IF YOU WANT THE ADS GONE
Pro is optional. It removes the banner and the full-screen ad, and Pro subscribers get each new Pro feature as it arrives, at the price they joined at.

- Pro Yearly: $9.99 a year, after a 7-day free trial
- Pro Monthly: $1.99 a month

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and the account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of that period. You can manage or cancel a subscription in your device Settings. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when a subscription is purchased.

Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

An estimate for one PAYE job across a full tax year. It does not cover self-employment, dividends, umbrella or limited company arrangements, or changing job part-way through the year.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.1 — 2026-08-20

Salary Calculator Pro is now available. It is an optional subscription that removes the banner and interstitial ads and supports the work. The calculator itself stays free and complete: every figure, the band-by-band breakdown and the Next £1 screen are unchanged and unlocked.

The number pad can now be put away. There is a Done button above the keyboard, and you can also tap outside the field or drag down to dismiss it.

On the Next £1 screen, the coloured bar showing where your next pound goes now fits its column at every salary. Below the personal allowance, where none of your next pound goes to tax, the bar used to run off the right edge of the screen.

No change to any income tax, National Insurance or student loan calculation.

### 1.0.2 — 2026-08-15

Fixes the advertising banner, which could appear oversized and overlap the figures on some devices. Settings and the detailed breakdown now scroll fully to the bottom. No change to any tax calculation.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-08-15

Fixes the reserved advertising space, which could fail to appear at all on some devices, and makes ad set-up recover automatically if it does not complete on first launch. No change to any tax calculation.

### 1.0 — 2026-08-14

No release notes.
