It’s so affordable to use in Salem, however the reason is it getting two stars because when you have to be somewhere they aren’t considerate that you need to go somewhere. Either you call it 5 mins before or even an hour. The drives do not try to do the best for time. If you don’t have any deadlines on time this app is great, but if you have to be somewhere like work not the best! ### 2/5 — Roll the dice *2024-07-12* The only thing going for this service is the price. If you need to be somewhere on time, make sure you plan at least 45 minutes ahead. Also, this service only picks you up at intersections and the 2-3 actual good drivers are overshadowed by the unprofessional and impatient bad drivers that give you less than 2 minutes to get to your pickup point before they drive off. So you just waited an hour for 1 skipper then they leave 30 seconds after going to the wrong location forcing you to wait another 15 minutes. Multiple times the pick up location has changed and I have gone exactly where it is and no driver had shown up, the pick up gets cancelled and there’s no way to communicate in a chat or call the driver. ### 3/5 — 1st dude if day *2023-11-14, version 4.11.13* My first ride if day waspsr? Not enough cars. *2023-10-18* Awesome idea, good execution, and super affordable! I just wish there were more skippers on the road. It’s often all booked up or has a long wait time (25-40min). Especially during tourist season! One issue I do have is skippers dropping off into roads. If I am on the left side, the driver will pull onto the right hand shoulder and open the left hand door into traffic for me. On busy Salem streets, this can be dangerous. I can see they aren’t at the drop off spot and then they leave without me after I’ve been waiting at the correct spot for 20 minutes. ### 4/5 — Inexpensive, unreliable but very much appreciated *2022-01-10* Salem Skipper is a city sponsored public transportation program. As the title states, the service is ludicrously inexpensive as they often gift free rides and offer referrals for obtaining free rides. When you do pay, the $2 price point for anywhere in the town of Salem is hard to beat. The vehicles are spacious, making them good for larger parties or those doing laundry or grocery. However, because if the limited number of cars and qualified drivers, the service is unreliable at peak hours. Wait times will often be in the 20-30 minute range and that’s if you can even find a car to begin with. In spite of this, when the stars align and the service works as intended, it is very much a life saver and makes one’s commute or errands just a bit easier. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — NEVER ANY SKIPPERS. *2026-06-03* Me and my boyfriend used to use skippers all the time but recently they have just not been good. they never have any skippers and sometimes they’ll give us a skipper and then cancel it. It’s not a good company anymore. i wish they were better because it really is a great way of transportation but they just haven’t been the same since last year. ### 1/5 — Random personal stops *2026-02-01, version 4.26.3* They personally stop at The liquor store, McDonalds ect. And wait there for 10-20 minutes before resuming driving it is highly unprofessional and extremely frustrating, when they wait down the street from where you are supposed to be picked up. Also they removed the option to call your driver for some odd reason which makes it impossible to reach your driver. I’ve had to cancel many rides due to this issue I would not recommend skipper to anyone, until they crack down on their drivers and their inability to do their job. Seriously don't use this app unless you want to have a headache ### 1/5 — Leaves young girls stranded *2025-11-08* You can order it for $1 but don’t expect to actually make it home! They’ll go to the wrong pick up spot and not even wait the full 5 minutes before just driving off and leaving you stranded.
