## What is Salmon Run?

You are a single salmon answering an ancient call: swim home.

Modeled after the salmon returning up the Klamath River. Ride the current upstream against everything the river throws at you. Slip past bears waiting on the banks, dive under diving eagles, thread the nets, and fight your way up the falls. Snap up drifting insects for a burst of speed — but pace yourself, because your strength runs out, and you can only wrestle free so many times.

Reach the spawning gravel, leave the next generation behind, and the river carries the story onward. Every run is a life. Every life feeds the next.

A calm, beautiful, one-thumb arcade game about the salmon's life cycle — easy to pick up, quietly hard to master.

- Swim upstream through shifting, living river conditions
- Dodge predators, nets, debris, and waterfalls
- Manage your endurance — wriggling free is never free
- Spawn, pass the torch, and watch the generations stack up
- No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no in-app purchases — just the river

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-29

The salmon swims like a salmon now. Its tail was flicking at the same hard tempo whether the fish was fighting up a riffle or just holding its line, which reads as a buzz instead of a swim. My sons caught it before I did. The tail now settles into a slow glide when you hold steady and opens back up when you cut across the current.

The rest of this update is the work that had been sitting half-finished for a while:

A family line. Each salmon carries a family name that stays with you across generations, so a long lineage feels like one story instead of separate runs.

Painted predators — bear, eagle, heron, kingfisher, merganser, otter, the boat and the net — in place of the old flat shapes, and a scene for each way a run can end.

A For Grown-Ups page behind a parental gate, plus Settings and Credits.

Sound for the dodges, the snags, and the fade.

More in the learning layer: the lifecycle activities, first foods, and what happens to a river when the dams come down.

Still one price, paid once. No ads, no in-app purchases, no tracking.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-07-07

Updated the App Store screenshots to show the real game — the swim upstream, the concept map of what your child is learning, and the For Grown-Ups page.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-07-07

A big update to the journey home:
• The river's alive now — a real current pushes and pulls you as you swim.
• Weave around mid-river rocks on the young salmon's drift to the sea.
• Every family line carries a real Klamath river name — see how many generations you can bring home.
• Read-aloud narration guides non-readers through each stage.
• New Settings + a “For Grown-Ups” page showing what your child is learning.
• Each ending now teaches the ecology behind it.
• Gentle background music, richer taps and sounds.

### 1.0 — 2026-06-03
