I hope you could have an android equivalent to this app, i want to have one also using my android phone since all my baking pictures are all in my android phone. But... *2018-09-17* I wish there was a way to change the currency. I don't live in the states so the US dollar currency is useless to me. Other than that, great app! **Developer response:** Salt & Pepper now allows you to work with any currency you like, regardless of your region. ### 4/5 — An amazing app *2017-12-26* If I could give this a 4 1/2 I would. What it needs to move to a 5 star is to either sync over drop box (not just iCloud) or give the ability to group share suppliers and even shopping list. This is my issue, as my spouse and I have two separate iCloud accounts and the app only allows sharing of the recipe. As a bonus it would be great to have a meal planner (for specials or functions), but that isn’t as important. ### 5/5 — Incredible app *2017-12-06* I use this app every day. I can’t tell you how useful and important this app has become for me. I truly wish it had desktop support for those times when you have to zip through 100’s of recipes and batch processing. But otherwise, amazing app. ### 4/5 — Too bad *2017-06-21* Was very excited and pleased with this app, until realizing, after much time invested, that not all ingredients were transferred to the shopping list from a recipe. A tragic glitch. ### 5/5 — Love *2016-04-07* I have an in home bakery and this helps me keep up with how much each recipe costs me to make down to the tea spoon. Helped me adjust prices to make sure I profit off of my things! Only thing I do not like is how it adds an ingredient every time you type one on the recipe card. I have "eggs" stored but sometimes I type "egg" and it doesn't know the cost anymore and adds it to my list of ingredients. Other than that I love it! ### 4/5 — 4.9999 star 😀 *2015-12-07, version 4.2.0* This is a great app, especially since I have just started my catering business. I like it so much that I paid for the full version. There is one option I would like to see in a future update. When tapping on an item from the recipe screen to add it to my shopping list, it would be nice to add the quantity from that recipe (for example, 5 apples) so when at the store, I don't have to go back into the recipe to see how much I need to buy. Also, if I have two different recipes where I've added apples to my shopping list (one requires 5 and the other requires 2) it would be helpful for it to recognize the same ingredient and just add 2 to the number of apples I need. The support area is great ### 4/5 — Great app *2015-01-29* This is an excellent app with lots of useful features, and is extremely reasonably priced for those features. My one complaint is that you have to scroll and choose a number to be entered, rather than just being able to enter it with the keyboard. I asked for help, I was struggling to make sense of things. I was told by Sarah from support that if it didn’t make sense I should return it to the App Store. I run a small business and struggle with numbers so i was very excited to find an app I could use to help me. Pretty shocked at the level of professionalism. ### 1/5 — Disappointed *2023-02-07* Your app is a tottal scam ### 1/5 — Old and klunky (updated) *2020-10-15* This used to be pretty good. But I added over 2000 recipes, many which were scanned images. It started to hang up, needing to wait two or more minutes to open. The developer said it was my iPads fault, the only app to have that problem. I switched to Paprika 3 and learned what a modern app should be. With so many more features (including a direct download from an online recipe) I wonder how much longer this app will be around. Update: The developer’s response says it all. This program is not meant to be used for a recipe collection; it’s really meant for businesses. From my experience it has no sorting or lookup capability, and is certainly not meant for scanned images. There are many apps out there that are far better for recipe collections and include features that Salt and Pepper does not have such as direct download from a web page and full size printing of scanned images. **Developer response:** Hello, "Birdkiller". Salt & Pepper is not one of the many apps designed for the simple collection of recipes. Salt & Pepper is designed for the business needs of professional users, such as chefs, the owners of restaurants and bakeries, caterers, and independent food product manufacturers. It's an intelligent and powerful application, capable of performing quite complex calculations in order to accurately determine the cost of your recipes. Naturally, loading thousands of recipes onto an older device may affect performance, as calculations for all of those possibly interdependent recipes are done on-the-fly. We would have appreciated the opportunity to help you improve the performance on your particular device. ### 1/5 — Rip off! *2020-04-21* Text field Is editing Not accessible whatsoever! This seemed promising but by no means is this application accessible for people who have visual impairment I would like my money back! Word mode insertion point at end ### 1/5 — The app won't even open *2016-12-04* I've paid for the app and it just keeps crashing. I haven't even been able to open it once. Don't waste your money and I want a refund. **Developer response:** This issue, in version 4.11.0, only affected users of older devices, and was fixed very soon after its release. ### 2/5 — No customer support *2022-03-29* I have emailed you several times and no answer. It is a shame because I like and unas the app a lot but is frustrating not getting any attention from them. I’m very disappointed. ### 2/5 — Concept-Great! Execution-POOR! *2020-05-26* It has all the needed separate features... but the layout is absolutely terrible! You are also forced to do your inventory by supplier vs. by item - which is fine for established places who use the exact same suppliers - Always!, but we’re not all in that same boat. Was really excited to use the app but sadly, it fell very short and was more frustrating than its worth. Being told the app would automatically change my pounds of citrus fruit, into tablespoons of zest (it doesn’t!), did not help the frustration level. Really hoping the refund I put in for comes through **Developer response:** Salt & Pepper allows you to group your ingredients by supplier, by category, or as a flat list. Simply choose the appropriate option from the menu at the upper-right of the screen. To calculate recipe costs, Salt & Pepper uses the densities of ingredients to convert between measurement units, as necessary. So that Salt & Pepper can convert between pounds and tablespoons of citrus zest, simply enter the density of zest on the Equivalence screen. 6 grams per tablespoon is a commonly used value, but you can do your own weighing if you like. Salt & Pepper will then calculate the cost of zest for all of your recipes, regardless of whether the measurement is by weight or by volume. ### 3/5 — Accessing App *2023-11-26* Hi I like the app and its functionality however I now cannot access. As screen just keeps jumping back to the home icon please assist ### 3/5 — Useful app marred by terrible UI *2018-06-18* I'm glad I bought this app, and it's saved me a lot of time, but the UI is atrocious. Recipe view scrolls back to the top when switching to edit mode so you lose your place when revising a recipe. Sliding to delete is a terrible idea, but it isn't even consistent between recipe and ingredient lists. Switching between recipe edit and the conversion screen throws you out of edit mode when you go back, so you can't quickly convert quantities while entering a recipe. And why even make the user do their own conversions anyway? Clearly the math is there, just add non-metric units to the quantity entry. Then there's that weird custom number pad thingy. Why? ### 3/5 — Great but needs work *2017-03-02* I love this app it is super awesome, but... it isn't easy to use. It's a little buggy. I want to use this for my business but it isn't easy enough to use yet. If this were worked out it would be an amazing tool for business. I'm having trouble with the costing piece. It's buggy. In my ingredient bin I've set costs and the item will show up in recipes but the cost info won't travel with it. Cost does not register in the recipe portion. **Developer response:** We suspect that you have created two ingredients with the same name. The ingredient in your recipe is likely a different ingredient than the one for which you've set the cost. I wish i could buy the app and make it proprietary for my business. I also wish they could have made the app for android. I’ve used Salt & Pepper for about 6 years (at least) and I repeatedly return to it. After a recent iOS update it wouldn’t load and I almost cried thinking I wouldn’t be able to use it. Thankfully it wasn’t a problem with the app and it was fine after rebooting my phone. The first time I opened this app (I’m not sure how many years ago) I knew it was written for someone like me.
