## What is Saltpath ClearLink?

Saltpath ClearLink turns an iPhone, iPad or Apple TV into an Apple Music player for your hi-fi, controlled from an iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV on the same local network.
Connect the Player to your USB DAC or stereo and leave ClearLink open. Browse your library and Apple's catalog, build the queue, and play, pause or skip from your Remote. Audio stays on the Player: ClearLink does not relay or re-encode it.
• Quality in view: every album tile shows its best available audio variant, and you can filter your albums by Hi-res lossless, Lossless, Lossy or Unclassified. Explore an album's Other Versions before choosing what to play, and open quality details from the variant beside the album on Now Playing.
• Your library: browse playlists, albums, artists and songs. Search your library, sort it, filter songs, and jump with the A–Z rail.
• Home: discover Apple's recommendation shelves.
• Simple pairing: open Add Remote on the Player, select it on the Remote, then approve the connection on the Player. No codes or ClearLink accounts.
• Remote control without Apple Music sign-in on the Remote. Optional Apple Music access on Apple TV supplies local library artwork.
• A dedicated Player: use Dim (Screen Off on Apple TV) to darken its screen while keeping ClearLink open.
• No advertising, analytics or developer-operated server. Remote commands stay on your local network; Apple Music and artwork come from Apple.
Requires an active Apple Music subscription on the Player, permission to access Apple Music on that Player, and local-network access on your devices. Internet access is needed for Apple Music services.
Version 1.1 supports iPhone, iPad and Apple TV as Player or Remote, and Mac as Remote. A Mac cannot be a Player. On Apple TV, choose Play Here to make it the Player; it plays through the Apple TV's own output.
Audio quality depends on the selected Apple Music version, the Player's settings and its output path. ClearLink's quality details are not a measurement at your DAC.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.1 — 2026-10-28

Version 1.1 brings ClearLink to the Mac and lets an Apple TV be the Player.
• Mac Remote: control a Player from your Mac. Browse your library, build the queue and control playback.
• Apple TV Player: on an Apple TV, choose Play Here to make it the Player. Other devices on your network can then control it, and it plays through the Apple TV's own output.
• Library: search your library, sort it, jump with the A–Z rail, and filter albums by Hi-res lossless, Lossless, Lossy or Unclassified. Songs can be filtered too.
• Apple TV: new Library and Queue screens.
Known limitations in this version: the Apple TV rebuilds its A–Z index each time ClearLink launches, so Jump to can take a little while at first, and moving a track down in the Apple TV Player's queue can stop after a move or two.

### 1.0 — 2026-10-21
