## What is Saluki?

Saluki is a native API client for Mac, iPhone and iPad. Your requests are plain .http files in your own folder or git repo. There's no account, nothing is collected, and one purchase covers every device.

PLAIN FILES YOU OWN
• Every request is a .http file, the format JetBrains IDEs, Visual Studio 2022 and VS Code (with the REST Client extension) open. Chaining, variables and some settings differ by tool.
• Commit them, diff them, review them in a pull request. Saluki rewrites only the lines you change, so your comments and formatting stay.
• On a Mac, open any folder in place.

BRING YOUR COLLECTIONS
• Imports Paw (.paw) files directly: requests, folders, headers and environments.
• Imports Postman v2.1 collections and environments, Insomnia exports, OpenAPI 3.0 and 3.1 (JSON or YAML), and curl commands.
• Imports from files end with a report that flags some of what Saluki can't convert, such as scripts and unsupported auth.

BUILD REQUESTS
• Any method. Params and headers with on/off toggles. JSON, form, multipart, raw and binary bodies.
• Bearer, Basic and API key auth.
• Paste a curl command into the URL field and it becomes a request.
• Copy any request as curl, Swift, JavaScript, Python or .http.

ENVIRONMENTS AND CHAINING
• Environments live in http-client.env.json, next to your requests.
• Mark a variable as secret and its value is stored in your Keychain, not in your files.
• Name a request, then use its response in the next one, like {{login.response.body.$.token}}.
• Unresolved variables in the URL and body show in red before you send.

READ RESPONSES
• Built for big responses: formatting runs in the background, and only what's on screen gets colored. Key order is kept.
• Formatted JSON, highlighted XML and HTML, and previews for HTML, images and PDF.
• Timing for each request: first byte and download, plus DNS, connect and, for https, TLS when a new connection is made.
• The last 500 sends of each collection, stored on this device and never synced.

MAC, IPHONE AND IPAD
• On Mac and iPad: the full app in three columns. ⌘↩ sends, and the main commands are in the menu bar.
• On iPhone: run requests, switch environments and read responses away from your desk.

PRIVACY
• No account and no sign-in.
• No analytics and no tracking. The App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected".
• Requests go straight from your device to the servers you choose. Nothing passes through a server of mine.

PRICE
• Free for one collection.
• Saluki Pro unlocks unlimited collections on Mac, iPhone and iPad with one purchase. No subscription. Saluki Pro supports Family Sharing.
