## What is Salvo Ships?

Command a fleet across two tactical grids in a naval strategy game built for quick decisions, tense reveals, and matches at the same table or miles apart. On iPhone Duo, fold the device to a right angle and the upright half shields your fleet from the player across the table. On other iPhones and iPad, private handoff screens keep each fleet hidden when you pass the device between turns.

Choose how you play:

• Pass and play — share one device and hand command between turns.
• Solo — challenge three computer difficulties, from casual hunting to probability-driven targeting.
• Online — invite a friend through Game Center.

Play the familiar straight-fleet rules in Classic mode, or build your own 17-square Task Force. Eight distinct ship classes bring tactical abilities such as sonar, torpedoes, repairs, airstrikes, and area bombardment. Losing a ship also takes its ability out of the battle, making every placement and every hit matter.

Fight across Open Sea or navigate coastlines, reefs, and narrow firing lanes. Land changes where ships can hide, where ordinary shots can land, and how special attacks travel.

Designed for clarity at a glance:

• Hits and misses differ by shape as well as color.
• Light and dark appearances are supported.
• Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion, separate sound and haptic controls, and large touch targets help the game adapt to the way you play.
• Unfinished solo and face-to-face matches save automatically on your device.

No ads. No loot boxes. No account required for offline play.

### 5/5 — Classic Game Taken to the Next Level

*2026-10-20*

Great game! Had so much fun playing this childhood classic against the computer. I think I love the Daily Chart even more. I’m not a fan of Sudoku with numbers, but this scratches the itch for visual players.

### 5/5 — Like battleship, but better!

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4 — 2026-10-26

New fleet finish: Regalia. Eight royal boats in purple and polished gold, from a state barge with gilt oars to a swan boat, on a velvet chart.

Full fleet: switch it on in the Task Force builder and both sides bring all eight ships and every ability. Works against the computer, pass-and-play and online, live or by turns.

Abilities now play out on the chart: planes fly the airstrike line, a torpedo leaves its wake, shells arc in for a bombardment, a barrage falls square by square, sonar sweeps and repair crews weld. The sound lands with the shells.

Hits hit harder: a fireball in your finish's color, a moment's freeze on impact, runs that grow with every hit, and squares that keep burning.

Share victory: after a win, share a picture of your fleet in its finish with your shot count.

New achievement: Collector, for owning every fleet finish.

Fixes: turning a ship in placement always turns it, a turn game the other player left now closes instead of waiting forever, and a sinking report that names several ships fits the screen.

### 1.3 — 2026-10-23

Fleet finishes now change the whole battle, not just the ships. Each finish brings its own chart: a gunmetal night-HUD for Foilborne, fog on slate for Ghost Fleet, razzle stripes for Dazzle, an engine-room blueprint for Copperwake and a treasure map for Buccaneer.

Every paid finish fires with its own guns: a railgun, a phantom cannon, a 1918 deck gun, a steam cannon or black powder, with hits and sinkings to match. Online, your opponent sees and hears your finish too.

Win in style: the victory screen takes on the winning fleet's finish.

New app icons: every finish comes with a matching home-screen icon.

Try before you buy: test drive any finish for one battle, or fire a shot in the showroom to see and hear it.

A redesigned Weekly Admiral's Challenge card shows the week, the time left and how your attempt went.

Larger text: on iPhone Duo and iPad the battle screen now grows with accessibility text sizes, and VoiceOver no longer stops on every miss.

On iPad, an ability now crosses out the moment its ship is sunk.

### 1.2 — 2026-10-22

New fleet finish: Buccaneer. Eight pirate ships, each crew in its own colors, from an oxblood galleon and a black-sailed flagship down to a cask-built submarine.

Fleet finishes have a new showroom: swipe through every finish on a small task force of its own, see its price, and get it in one tap. Choose what Player 1 and Player 2 each wear from the list below.

Task Force now remembers the fleet you built last time, so you no longer pick your ships again every game.

New Tips in the Tutorial: how to mark a square before you fire, and how to get a notification when it's your move in an online game played by turns.

On iPad, an ability now crosses out the moment its ship is sunk.

With Reduce Motion on, the chart no longer shakes on a hit and menus fade in instead of sliding.

### 1.1 — 2026-10-21

New Tutorial: two short guided battles teach you the game by playing it, from your first shot to Task Force abilities. Offered on first launch and always available from the setup screen.

Built for iPhone Duo. Fold it to a right angle and the upright half becomes a privacy screen: your fleet stays on the flat half facing you, and it is hidden whenever the fold opens or closes too far. No more passing the phone at the table.

Quick Battle: one tap from the menu to your first shot against the computer.

Campaign Book II and the Weekly Admiral's Challenge: everyone faces the same enemy fleet each week, with one attempt and a Game Center ranking.

New fleet finish: Copperwake, riveted copper hulls and brass boilers in steam.

Use more than one ability a turn while your energy lasts, with a new energy gauge to track it.

A new glass finish across the interface, sunk ships that break in two and burn, shot haptics matched to hit, miss and sink, and a share card for the solved Daily Chart.

Leaving a local battle now offers Save and return home.

The last shot of every battle now plays out in slow motion before the battle report, with a proper victory or defeat moment.

Online: join a friend with a short code instead of a Game Center invitation, choose your Task Force fleet after joining (live and by turns), accept turn-by-turn invitations right in the app, and see where enemy sonar swept your waters.

New sound effects: a real gun, hits, splashes and sinkings, a sound of its own for every ability, and a horn at the end of every battle.

New in Settings: Confirm shots and Confirm abilities. Mark your target first, then press Fire or Confirm, so a stray tap never costs you a shot.

A Recent moves log on every battle screen (iPhone, iPad and iPhone Duo) shows the last few things each side did: which ship you hit, and when the enemy repairs a ship.
