### 3/5 — For this price, they need to do better on the app

*2026-03-27, version 3.1.5*

This is a great idea and a good start. Obviously they are successful because no one else does this. We are a week in and I can’t say that our sleep is better yet (still working on settings and stuff), but I’m hopeful it’ll help once we dial it in. That being said, the app is pretty poorly designed and clunky. It freezes when trying for format the SD card every time, is not intuitive in the layout and honestly looks like it was designed by a high schooler. They really need to invest a little bit of money into an app overhaul and this might be amazing!

### 3/5 — App video playback

*2023-09-17, version 2.5.6*

I think the idea of this is fabulous. The recordings are consistent and saved. Alarms work…which in the grand scheme is most important but as others have posted…playback is poor though the app. I’ve resulted to pulling the sd card and using a reader to watch. App needs work. Camera is decent quality and picks up well in a dark room. Seems to pick up motion well. Best option for us so far.

### 4/5 — Solid seizure detector

*2023-03-07, version 2.5.6*

After trying several different cameras, this has been the one that stuck. It’s motion detection is good (and it does not require sending info to the cloud to be analysed, which is good for privacy), which sorts out which parts of the nights footage needs reviewing, and that saves so much time compared to previous “dumb” cameras. It’s also easy to email copies of specific recordings to ourselves, to send on to the doctors. There have been some false positives that set off the alarm, like turning over in bed for too long, but this is down to how we calibrated the camera, and better this than missing something.

The levels of customisation is impressive, with lots of ways to control how and when the alarm is sounded.

As is usual with something like this, you need a a good signal, and we’ve got a Wi-Fi mesh, and have had very few problems (although you can tell the camera not to sound the alarm if the signal drops out). It also needs turning-off-and-on-again every week or so, but this is a minor consideration.

### 3/5 — Updated App Fail

*2023-02-09, version 2.5.5*

Our system worked great. Ever since the “update” we can’t get anything to download. It might restart download, then go back, then shows a blank screen. If it does download, a 30 second video is taking over 2 mins to download. We have checked everything and it isn’t our wifi system. I just checked the date of the “update” and BOOM, found the problem. The update needs an update! It is faulty!!!

### 5/5 — Reassurance

*2022-09-14*

It’s so reassuring to have the SAMi monitor for our 5 year old who has nocturnal seizures. It takes a bit of time to get the sensitivity right but it’s meant we are no longer sleeping in his bed. And we have used the video recordings to show our neurologist plenty of times. It’s also an awesome way to time stamp when a seizure starts and ends.

### 5/5 — Peace of mind

*2022-09-14, version 2.4.3*

Love our Sami camera and the app. I can sleep at night knowing my son is safe and every movement is recorded and it will alarm if there is unusual movements. Highly recommended and it's brought such relief to our lives.

### 3/5 — Connection issues

*2020-10-06, version 2.2.10*

We too have begun having connection issues. I am constantly having to unplug and plug the camera back in. Please resolve the issue!

### 2/5 — Having to reconnect to router every other day

*2018-02-20, version 2.0.15*

I was very happy with this until here lately we have to reconnect to our router about every other day

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2017-11-26, version 2.0.14*

Purchased this and changed our world.
Use it for nocturnal seizures...
Allows our child to sleep independently....and allows my wife and I to sleep together.

### 5/5 — Game-Changer for Seizure Patients

*2017-09-02, version 2.0.12*

We just got the camera today, but I am honestly blown away by the features that this devices offers.

Upon receiving the camera and downloading the app, I was skeptical of how reliable the app would be. So far, after playing with the settings and recordings for hours, I haven't had it crash one time and it's doing what I have set it to do perfectly.

Keep in mind, the Sami3 camera is designed with people who have seizures. So it isn't your average baby monitor/wifi camera as it is designed to work primarily at night in a fixed position over the bed of the patient as a specified motion/activity tracker. In this case, the patient is our 2 year old who possibly has epilepsy. After extensive research online looking for good monitors, I searched for "seizure camera" and came across this. Although the camera is expensive, I feel confident that it will help record the next seizure my daughter has, and it will be a great aid in assisting the doctors with properly diagnosing her if she does have a seizure disorder.

If you decide to give this company a shot, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. I will update this review in time as we get good use out of it.

Thank you Sami3!

### 1/5 — Are they in business still? Outdated, Clunky, Slow!

*2026-02-14, version 3.1.5*

I don’t know why the epilepsy foundation recommends Sami. Wireless connections are standard nowadays. It’s not the 1980s, but we had to find and connect to the camera with an ethernet cable and modem. The app looks like a 3rd grade project and is very slow, clunky and glitchy. It decided you can’t use special characters to enter a password on one phone so it can’t connect, but it connected to the other phone no problem because it let us use special characters on that phone. I even redownloaded the app and keep my phone os up to date, and it still didn’t work! It looks like this app hasn’t been updated in years. It’s a piece of junk. The camera looks blurry and took several attempts to connect. It’s trash. We are supposed to trust our loved ones with this technology with all these problems? This is the most unintuitive, clunky and outdated piece of technology I’ve used in 15 years.

### 1/5 — Camera issue

*2024-12-29, version 2.6.2*

Camera keeps disconnecting please help.

### 1/5 — Says need password to login but no password

*2023-01-29, version 2.5.5*

Bug doesn't work

### 1/5 — New app update

*2022-11-30, version 2.5.0*

My app was working perfectly fine before 11/29/22. I was so happy with the Sami app. Now I’m irritated because your new update is not reading my Sami SD card. It’s taking forever for it to recognize it. Please stop doing updates on it. I depend on my Sami app a lot! I monitor my special needs son on it everyday. Thank you .

### 1/5 — Borderline scam

*2022-10-19, version 2.4.3*

Paid a huge amount of money for this buggy system, constant disconnects and next to useless after sales support. I recall waiting over a week for a response, the info they supplied was generic and never solved this issue. Unhappy customer.

### 1/5 — Did update on 5/10/20 now app closes

*2020-05-11, version 2.2.5*

My iPad did the newest update and now it keeps the Sami app keeps force closing. The app on my phone didn’t update yet and it’s still working.

### 1/5 — Better than nothing

*2019-10-06, version 2.2.4*

Updates are stagnant no new features in the couple years we’ve used it. No android app, extraordinarily expensive camera not to mention had to pay hundreds for iPad and of course we know that means probably another hundred replacing substandard apple power cords. The software often alarms with simple normal movement and somehow fails to alarm when he jumps out of bed and quickly leaves the very limited viewing angle of the camera. Finally we have to mount the sd card to our pc to zoom in or view the recordings with full quality and there is a several second lag meaning whatever we see actually happened in the past. I wish i could tell other parents with epileptic children to avoid this purchase but unfortunately these guys have the only game in town.

### 1/5 — What’s the difference?

*2019-04-05, version 2.0.16*

The camera is $399, full kit is in the thousands. I have a $39 camera that does night vision, motion detection, push notifications and alarms, recordings and is easier to set up. The Sami camera has to be hard wired to set up which is antiquated compared to most WiFi cameras on the market. The camera and the iPhone have to be on the same WiFi network; so using this if your away from home won’t work. The app has to be open at all times to get warnings.

The company is positioning this product as a healthcare/seizure detection solution while in reality there’s not any differentiators from any other WiFi camera. The only difference is the inflated price. It is not cleared by the fda.

Update- after using it for a couple weeks we have found the motion settings useful. They take a little while to get dialed in.

### 2/5 — IOS COMPATIBILITY COMPLAINT

*2023-04-21, version 2.5.6*

I love this app and it’s given me some sanity but today I am steamed.
The app has a compatibility of
iOS 11 and you recommend buying an older apple product to make using this product affordable. I have an old IPad 2 only supports up to IOS 9. It was cheap and what I could get. My camera froze this morning and the usual fix for this is to delete the app and reinstall it.
I can reinstall because of the IIOS flag on your app. You need it to tell me it’s incompatible would I like to run an older version?
I paid a lot for this camera and I can’t use my phone because I also track Dexcom’s on that.
Your software ran very well on the IIOS 9 all night. I use motion, recording, microphone and all sensitivity flagged me and recorded appropriately. She seized this morning and it alarmed me as it should. Your last update was Feb and no problems. Please fix this so I can continue to use this camera. Apple will constantly be updating so if this is an issue than make it available on a Samsung and/or a kindle product as well. Not happy. Losing my night help.

### 2/5 — Connection problems

*2020-09-30, version 2.2.10*

Just recently our app started to have problems maintaining connection to the camera. I’ve tried restarting the tablet, using another tablet, uninstalling and installing the app, and resetting the camera to no avail. The point is to have some peace of mind while sleeping knowing that the Sami will detect if our son is seizing during the night. Please fix ASAP.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2025-08-11, version 3.1.3*

Straight forward to use and gives some peace of mind. It stores some videos and allows easy access to review footage. It is trial and error in terms of setting movement tolerances but it’s great that you can set it to what you need. It is expensive but for us worth the money so we can detect any unusual movements and check on our child from other rooms.

### 5/5 — Excellent System

*2024-01-31, version 2.5.6*

We are very thankful and grateful to have this system. It has allowed us to move our tween daughter back into her bedroom and still monitor her safely. The camera is very clear and picks up all motion in great detail (red outlines are a great feature) which is good because her seizures were often more subtle than most.

As a software developer myself, I really appreciate the iPad mobile app's design and functionality. It is a great example of a purpose-built application for a piece of hardware. Everything is laid out in a logical manner from a monitoring perspective as well as when reviewing and managing the recordings. There are a ton of configuration options as well so you can fine-tune the sensitivity of recordings, alerts, schedules, camera settings, etc.

This was really well executed and has been an important part of us returning to normalcy.

### 5/5 — Life Changing

*2022-10-11*

Our daughter has epilepsy and we have been trying so many different monitors for her, which were mostly designed for babies. Finally an app that is specifically designed by a father for a child with seizures. Everything we could wish for is built into the app. We can sleep in peace, knowing we will be alerted for a seizure.

### 5/5 — Thank You SAMi

*2022-09-26, version 2.4.3*

We have been using SAMi for about 7 years now! It provides peace of mind so we can rest assured it will wake us in the event our daughter has a seizure. It also alerts when she gets out of bed! Thank you SAMi!

### 5/5 — I can actually sleep now

*2022-09-14, version 2.4.3*

When you are the parent of a child with epilepsy, you are always on alert. This epilepsy monitor has helped me be able to get a decent night of sleep for the past three years. I love that you can add the app to any phone or tablet so that caregivers can monitor our son. It has captured several seizures for us over the years. We are so thankful for this.

### 5/5 — Sami Saves Lives

*2022-09-14, version 2.4.3*

We purchased the Sami when my daughter was 4 months old. We use it every time she sleeps and take it with us even on vacation. It has alerted us every-time she has had a seizure. Truly a must for seizure monitoring! User friendly and detailed explanations on how to get the just right setting for your child’s epilepsy.

### 5/5 — Love this camera

*2022-09-14, version 2.4.3*

We have had our camera for almost 3 yrs. It has actually made it easier for me to sleep at night. If I’m worried I just look at the camera, see he’s fine then go back to sleep. He sleeps better too knowing I’m watching him and he is safe. Thank you so much!

### 5/5 — Life changer

*2022-09-14, version 2.4.3*

Someone gifted us a SAMi3 a few years ago. It made all the difference in our lives. Seizures are so unpredictable our daughter is now able to spend most nights in her own room. She sleeps better we also sleep better. Our neurologist is so grateful for the recordings. He could see for himself what was happening. Thank you for such an amazing product.

### 5/5 — Game changer and must have

*2022-09-14, version 2.4.3*

Our Sami has given us peace of mind when we leave my daughter sleeping, that we will know when she has a seizure. It’s caught them several times and alerted us. We could not live without this device. So thankful it was developed.

### 5/5 — Sleep Saver!

*2022-09-14, version 2.4.3*

When we started experiencing seizures I was unable to sleep. I’d check on my child dozens of times a night, placing my hand on their back like when a baby. This device changed my life and my sleep! The video quality is amazing and I love being able to adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection. 5 stars!
