Today, it has become one of the worst banking experiences I’ve ever had. The app has been “renewed” three times, and with every update all my saved payees have disappeared permanently. It is shocking that the developers cannot manage something as basic as retaining payee information. The current app is slow, unstable, and poorly designed. I have never seen a banking app so inefficient, frustrating, and unreliable. Whoever is responsible for this development needs to seriously reconsider their approach — this is a complete failure of user experience and customer care. If the developers need guidance on how a proper banking app should function, they should start by studying even the most basic apps on the market. ### 1/5 — Bullshi** app *2025-08-25, version 4.6.0* What kind of nonsense is this? Sampath Bank, do better! ### 1/5 — Failure to activate the App *2025-08-17, version 4.5.0* It’s great that the bank has launched a new app, but what’s the point if someone living abroad can’t even get it to work without visiting a branch or calling customer service? The whole idea of a digital solution is to make banking more accessible, especially for international customers. Requiring in-person verification or phone calls just to activate basic features is outdated and inconvenient. ### 1/5 — Password change visa website isn’t reflected in the app *2025-06-30, version 4.5.0* They request you to change the password every so often which is very unnecessary and then it is not updated on the app when you try to use the new password to log in. This app is basically useless. ### 1/5 — Login Fail *2025-06-12, version 4.4.0* I tried to login using this new app and it says my app activation is pending on this device. As always the Sampath bank mobile app is the worst of all. Even in the last updates, the app keeps logging me out after 1-2min. UX is very bad. For each and every option you selects, the app keeps loading. Takes around 5-10min to do a transaction and on other banking apps, I’ve made transactions within seconds. As a corporate bank, so dissatisfied with online banking facility. ### 1/5 — Incomplete app *2025-05-30, version 4.4.0* App hasn’t fully integrated with the web. Only up to 7 random payees available, if your payee not there you wouldn’t able to do transaction. transaction history shows only transactions made through app, history doesn’t pop up with details just transaction number and amount. A major bank in Sri Lanka living in 2024 still struggling to come up with a complete mobile banking app. ### 1/5 — Not the best *2025-04-03, version 4.4.0* I tried many times to get a FD against loan but not working. Even the staff doesn’t know the reason. I have to go to bank and manually do the things at a time I have an emergency reason. I can’t even do the request through app and get it done from the city branch. Sampath App previous versions are better. I was happy with those versions. This one is not. ### 1/5 — OWN AC TFR NOT WORKING *2025-03-21, version 4.4.0* App does not support for own account transfers from a PFCA account to a LKR account like the previous version did ### 1/5 — Need more improvements *2025-02-15, version 4.3.0* Please work on face unlock, it is taking too much time. Pre loading effects are getting long time to get the things done. I tried with 100mbps internet connection but still really slow. If I copy account details from note which makes me switch apps takes edges to make it. Very slow face unlocking. ### 1/5 — Pathetic App *2024-12-27, version 4.3.0* Whoever developed this app should have at least looked at some other international banking apps before designing the front end. The use experience is pathetic. It’s way too complicated to use this app when doing simple transactions. Too much unnecessary information is presented. Most of the time the OTP email doesn’t come through. The bank is ripping off the customers by charging Rs. 30.00 for every online transaction. If we assume there are 100,000 transactions by customers, the bank just make 3 million per day ! ### 1/5 — Constant back end issues *2024-12-27* The app doesn’t load most of the time and the app detects no connectivity even though your connected. App is very slow. The app doesn’t start up. The above happens 99% and if the app works your lucky on the day. ### 1/5 — Transfer limit 500k! *2024-12-16* What a joke . Transfer limit is now 500k daily . All other bank have higher limits, some 20 x more ! But once I log in to my account, I can't login to my other one on the same phone. It shows "Device is already registered to another Vishwa user.". ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Poor responsiveness and so many system errors *2026-04-02* I liked the old Sampath Vishwa app and web portal a lot because of the simple arrangement of all the useful items and smooth functionality. The new app is a disaster. Even if I manage to complete all the steps for a transaction by tolerating the system latency, the final step to see the transaction confirmation shows a blank grey screen with an error message saying “try again later”. The new Vishwa web portal on PC is even worse. May be it’s the time to switch to another bank who provides a smooth app and online banking experience. ### 1/5 — Worst banking app in Sri Lanka *2026-03-18* This is the worst app ever 1. OTP doesn’t come on time 2. Saved Payees doesn’t show most of the time 3. Even the OTP comes it goes back to the OTP empty otp full boxes. Never use it if you are in rush. To login again, you have to enter your password, verify OTP, setup PIN and enable FaceID. So frustrated with the entire mobile and web experience! Deleted the app reinstalled it BUT STILL NOT WORKING same error ### 1/5 — Example of “How NOT to do Banking Apps” *2025-11-13, version 4.7.0* Can’t even open the App on iOS 26 as the App says ‘invalid device’ 🤨There’s no zero star rating otherwise I’ll give no starts for this App. It’s a shame that Tech Pioneered bank in Sri Lanka now relying on cheap software developed in their closest neighbour. Not only their App is rubbish all IT solutions by the bank is now dated or not fit for purpose. I’m seriously considering to move all accounts to another bank. ### 1/5 — OTP and services *2025-11-06, version 4.7.0* For a person who travels back-and-forth in and out of the country, this has been giving me so much of trouble. If you login from your laptop and request for an OTP, it comes directly to your phone. But if you requested from your phone to your phone number, it doesn’t. Great job, guys! It functions well, has an eye-catching appearance, and works smoothly. Better arrangement of banking functions and very intuitive interface. Great performance when compared to its predecessors. The app is quite intuitive an have the full functionality of the website. To make it even better I would like to suggest having an option to increase the font size.
