### 4/5 — Good

*2023-09-25*

Scared there was no seq

### 3/5 — Great book, cost more than you think

*2023-07-13*

The story is well written and extremely interesting. The thing is, it doesn’t say in the description that the story doesn’t conclude with this book, or that this is a series. No spoilers, but it ends with a cliffhanger and then prompts you to buy the next book. Kind of a gotcha. Great story like I said, be prepared to buy 5 books is all.

### 5/5 — Great!

*2019-03-14*

A really great game I would recommend to anyone!

### 5/5 — Great example of the genre

*2018-07-12*

I play a lot of these choice story games and this is easily one of my favourites. Well worth the cost!

### 5/5 — Words can’t describe!!!

*2018-06-30*

Words can’t describe how amazing the SoH series is so far. Won’t be a waste of your time.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2018-05-29, version 1.0.4*

Really great story, well written. I love stories like this one that keeps me on the edge. Well done!

### 5/5 — Bruhhh...

*2018-04-19*

In my entire smartphone possessing life I have NEVER went out of my way to leave a review for anything in the AppStore or the google play store, regardless if I loved it or hated it. But I would be an absolute “Baka” if I didn’t do it right now. If I wrote down what I truly felt about this game this review would rival the length of the game itself. I’ll sum it up like this:

to me this game is essentially one of the best manga/books/stories you will ever read, and YOU are the main character. And the further you get, the more immersed you become in the story, all the way up to the point of imagining yourself right in the middle of it all, and the words, thoughts and actions of the main character genuinely feeling as if they are coming from your own mind. The endless ways the story unfolds based on the decisions you choose make for one heck of a mixture of fear/anticipation/regrets/ and excitement that builds up simultaneously as you make your choice and hesitate to push next page to see what unfolds. And the way the choices you make affect the stats your character develops, that then have true affects on things you try to do in the game, ingenious!

If you don’t spend the $4 you’re insane. You spend way more than that on a son of a baconator meal at Wendy’s. Plus this won’t make you fat. Can’t wait for the next chapter!

### 5/5 — Hooked

*2018-03-19*

I have nothing bad to say about this game, honestly. I’ve already sung it’s praises to one friend who I think will end up as hooked as I am, and will definitely recommend to others. Worth the money - the story is so captivating and good, and I absolutely adore how interactive it is! So much work had to have gone into it. Definitely will be purchasing the subsequent books!

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2018-02-03*

I downloaded this a few years back and continued to restart and replay over and over.

### 5/5 — Top story 4 game of choice

*2018-01-19, version 1.0.4*

LOVE this story. Worth every penny!

### 5/5 — The Fish

*2017-12-15*

Actually I just didn’t want to kill the fish because it seemed like an OBVIOUSLY BAD IDEA. Which [spoiler alert] it was.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2017-11-24*

Just gonna add another 5 star review to the list. This game is amazing, way better than all the other games in this genre. Loved playing it and book 2, well worth the money, looking forward to book 3.

### 5/5 — Please make more

*2017-09-17*

Stunning game I hope there will be more

### 5/5 — 👍

*2017-09-01, version 1.0.4*

👌👍👌👍🙌

### 5/5 — Great game

*2017-08-02, version 1.0.4*

One of the better interactive stories out there. Loved the characters and the storyline, and I like that it's a bit more adult (the other interactive stories are so PG!). Looking forward to the next chapter. A bit pricey for just one chapter.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Nope

*2020-02-05, version 1.0.5*

Started out okay so I bought it. After reading a bit more I seriously regretted the purchase and had to refund. Disappointed AF but I will say it had potential...

### 1/5 — Potential

*2019-02-22*

Story could’ve been soooo good but you are instantly cast into an archetype if some ronin, automatically giving you a personality that isn’t yours.
Boring because of it, feeling disconnected from the main character (in a choice-book, if all the things!)

### 1/5 — Play Choice of Robots

*2018-12-16*

Choice of Robots has ruined me for all text adventure games, I had looked up the top ten recommended after playing that one and selected the free options so I could get a better understanding of how these other games fared. After 5 chapters I got given the option of paying for the full game. I was intrigued and indulged, however I was not delivered a full game. It ends in the middle of action/story. I’m extremely disappointed in my first foray outside of Choice of Robots and fear that I’ll be forced to replay that game forever due to lack of equivalent great games.

### 1/5 — Incomplete

*2016-03-20*

Although I found the story very well written and engaging, it's incomplete. This is but the "Book One" of what I believe is a planned series. The problem is that nowhere was I warned that I was buying an unfinished story. Every other Choice of Games's game is a complete story in a single app. Although I knew this wasn't made directly by them, I still expected a similar experience. Now I'm left unsure if I will ever see an ending, and frustrated that I will most likely have to pay again for the sequel. Please give a CLEAR warning that this is an unfinished product in the app description.

### 2/5 — Pay more...

*2020-08-09, version 1.0.5*

Really? Leaving us on a cliffhanger like that and asking us to play for the rest?

### 2/5 — Great but awful.

*2017-11-28, version 1.0.4*

Made me upset that I couldn’t read past chapter 5.

### 2/5 — Horrible bugs ruin the game

*2016-04-09, version 1.0.2*

I bought the game a while ago and I managed to finish the story multiple times with no issues. But now, I can't even get past the first 5 pages because the game will freeze, make me reload it, and then not give me an option to continue onto the next page. The story is good, but for $5, I'd expect there to be no bugs that last for this long.

### 2/5 — Childish

*2016-04-07*

It's ironic how hard this game tries to insist on its "maturity", considering that it's about as mature as Family Guy stripped of all satire and social commentary.

### 2/5 — Play the first chapters before buying

*2015-08-25*

The main character was so impotently snarky and unbearably childish that I couldn't feel any empathy for the character that was supposed to represent me. The game doesn't offer you a chance to not be a clod.
I've chosen to be a clod in plenty of RPGs, but there is no choice here.
The part where your character chooses to snatch a koi fish out of the pond after saying some stupid one liner and you are given the chance on how to kill it, there is a third option. It says "Don't kill the koi fish."
The game that says that you must be squeamish.
Now this game is insulting me, so I picked the fourth option: uninstall the game.

### 2/5 — Not the best hosted game

*2015-07-19*

For some reason the writing just left me cold. A good premise and some interesting characters but the choices and scoring system didn't feel that integrated into the game. Also, the style of writing jarred somewhat.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Nice writting

*2022-04-11, version 1.0.8*

Stats (and choices) does matter in the long run. Cant wait for more

### 5/5 — Best of all the games here.

*2021-03-25*

Nuff’ said. This and the other books are the best here 👀

### 5/5 — Players review

*2021-02-10, version 1.0.5*

Sorry as this review is long’ish: I’ve read and played all the current Hyuga books along with any text-based or story driven game you can imagine. So far, Samurai of Hyuga game (the entirety of the series) is beyond anything the play store and other sites have to offer in comparison. All the books lead and grow onto eachother, soon you feel love or hate for characters to the point I don’t normally feel but did for this series. With each book I think they are lengthier with the most recently released book (#4?) being the longest with some big turn of events that made me want to cry (no spoilers). I am very much looking forward to the next book.

### 5/5 — Beyond Incredible

*2020-06-28*

Originally didn't think I'd end up buying this because I haven't been impressed by many interactive novels but NOT buying it was absolutely not an option after the free chapter....that was some of the best two hours of my life. I love everything about it. The story and characters have me as hooked as any big name movie or novel series. I also really appreciate the touch of being able to choose your gender as well as the gender of your romantic interest.

Going back now to replay with different choices. MAN!! My wallet is just waiting to open for the next stories. Absolutely amazing.

### 5/5 — Bruv

*2020-01-26*

If I had the power to do so I would make an interactive anime kind of game on Netflix except this would take to long and expensive most likely but I love the game!

### 5/5 — Buy this.

*2019-11-24*

I wish I could rate higher than a five this is one of the best CoG out there. Plus it has cute Red-panda in it.

### 5/5 — Fantastic story and choices!

*2019-11-12*

I’m very late to the party but I hope it’s still going. I can count the number of times I’ve written a review on an app on one hand, because most of the time I don’t care. But with this game I just had to. I’m writing a review on this game but it encompasses every other book (spoiler-free!). One thing I really appreciate about this story was that it was easy to read. As in, I understood everything that was going on (though understanding Japanese terms certainly helps) and even though you guys had the choice to make the reader wait until they could read the next couple of chapters (ex.: like how some story-based games require “keys” and you can only access a number of chapters until you have to wait literal hours for your keys to refill or pay money to refill it instantly), you didn’t. Although SoH is worth all the money, I really appreciate how you guys didn’t do this, as it would have definitely discouraged me and other readers from continuing.

Second, the writing. It’s wonderful! It’s hilarious at times and I actually find myself laughing where laughing is due. I think the characters are intricately written and I genuinely care about what happens to them and where their story goes.

Don’t even get me started on the choices! The choices in this game are difficult, but in a good way (?) — at least to me. I try to increase my attunement whenever I can and I find that the choices are very realistic and actually hard, as real-life choices usually are.

By the time of this review’s publishing, I will be almost halfway through Book 2. I will hopefully be buying the rest, as well!

Long story short, if you would like to appreciate a good story, get this game! You won’t regret it.

### 5/5 — Ain’t sure if this’ll help but I’ll give it a shot

*2019-10-01*

Have to say I absolutely loved the book and am happy that the series is still continuing definitely something I’ll give my first comment to would talk more about the story by ain’t the best with explaining stuff so won’t but I have a question I just bought the second book and It won’t let me transfer my data from the first book could ya tell me how please if it’s possible(and if you guys still check this) and finally give my thanks to the author for makin a really great book that I could enjoy keep up the good work man

### 5/5 — ❤️

*2019-06-21*

Best of the best!! I’ve read 75% of the COG/ HG library, and this series is by far my favorite. The writing is so engagingly well done, that I refused to put down my iPad until i noticed the sunrise in my window. Your accrued stats actually matter, and have a barring on the outcome/results of your choices. The characters have amazing depth which causes the reader to get emotionally attaches and invested in them.

So excited for the next installment! Buy this!!

### 5/5 — Intense, in a good way

*2019-04-28, version 1.0.5*

It has action, comedy, horror, romance-- what's not to love? I do kind of wish it were possible to make my character both perverted and chivalrous about some things: as in, obsessed with the body but also having a code of honor. But other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed this game. The end was an emotional roller coaster. I really enjoy the characters so far-- I don't know if I can pick a favorite at this point, which probably goes to show. It's definitely worth the price.
