### 4/5 — Subscriber

*2013-01-30, version 3.1.01*

I am already a subscriber to SF magazine. Is there no way to get the magazine online without being asked over and over if I want to subscribe for free? Otherwise the app works.

### 4/5 — Great magazine!

*2012-09-29, version 3.1.0*

Thank you for making a great magazine available for free! I wish more magazines were as smart, and realized advertisers are there to support the online apps! Because of this I pay particular attention to the ads (which are usually amazing, BTW) and support them!

Content and visuals are always thought provoking, interesting, visually compelling. Above all, here for the city of SF!

Saw the actual mag at Whole Foods yesterday and was thinking how it'd be nice to read the digital version on my iPad, if they had one... What a pleasant surprise to see that it is free! Wow! Thank you, sanfranmag!

### 5/5 — Frisco Info

*2012-08-12, version 3.0.0*

Best thing is that it's based where I live! Some of the places mentioned I have been but also mentioned places I need to see in my own backyard. Love it!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — More ads?? Really?

*2014-06-12, version 4.1.0*

Your magazine already has ads. Now you are adding quite ugly ads on the bottom sliver and while I am waiting for your pages to load? Really? How about improving the terrible experience of constantly waiting for pages to load by loading them in the background while I am reading the current page? The simplest of solutions. You are a San Francisco magazine for goodness sake. You think you could find a couple of college kids to do this right.

### 1/5 — Crashes every time I open it!

*2013-10-10, version 3.5.1*

I live this magazine and I used to like the app, though it was a bit slow to download. The latest version just doesn't work at all. Please fix these bugs! I'm not the only one...

### 1/5 — Full of bug!

*2013-07-10, version 3.5.1*

I have been a subscriber since the beginning. Like the magazine and content, but it won't open, show issues and even after reloading app, still needs a fumigator.... I am trying it for one last time and IF it flakes again, there are much better ways to waste your time!

### 1/5 — Can't open

*2013-06-01, version 3.5.1*

Magazine will not open. Get a message about displaying the opening page, and it crashes when it gets to 99%.

### 1/5 — Just crashes!!!

*2011-09-01, version 2.2.4*

The magazine itself is entertaining to read. However, the app. itself is riddled with bugs and is painfully slow. This update does nothing but crash, leaving you no access to the magazine.

Very poorly executed app. which effectively cuts off readers from the San Francisco magazine.

MINUS ONE star for this app.

### 1/5 — Please do better

*2010-05-11, version 0*

Terrible design. When you scroll from page to page, the scrolling is fluid but the pages are out of focus when you switch from one page to another and it takes about 2 seconds before the page comes in focus.

The scrolling is annoying as well because it can cut a page in an awkward place making a two page spread useless.

I have perfect vision and even I strain to read the text sometimes... And that's in portrait mode. Landscape mode is 100% useless. There is no zooming in either mode.

At least it's free.

### 2/5 — No zoom

*2013-04-06, version 3.1.01*

Unfortunate that you can't zoom in on the small print (and there's a fair amount of it). Why not make the pages expandable???

### 2/5 — slow

*2013-01-15, version 3.1.01*

and keeps asking if I want to get the app on every page ... I'll have to wait 'till it's more useful...

### 2/5 — Great Magazine, Horrible App

*2013-01-06, version 3.1.0*

San Francisco magazine is a great way to find out more about the city we all love - the layout is great, photos beautiful, and the articles are interesting.

This app basically displays the magazine in PDF format, but manages to layer on an interface that is slow, buggy, and frustrating. The simple act of opening the app often takes 15-30 seconds, the magazine will crash midway through reading it, and you're re-invited to download an app almost every time you open the app - a process which boots you over to the App Store.

### 2/5 — Slow to down load

*2012-05-10, version 2.3.9*

This app take a long time to down load each issue. Then, it l needs to load the pages after that, which still requires Internet access. Verify cumbersome for offline use on an iPad, while on my commuter train ride. The images look great on my retinae display, but I'd rather it load quicker and fully, than look great.
