## What is Sandbox?

Sandbox is a way to stay informed and find out where you stand on the issues that matter most. One topic at a time, on your own schedule, without the outrage and noise.

Each day starts with a short briefing on a topic people are arguing about: the background, the numbers, and the strongest points every side is actually making. Then you react to a handful of those arguments and find out which camp you land in. Camps go beyond left and right, so you see the real spread of opinion instead of a two-team scoreboard. You might be surprised who you line up with.

At the end of each day, see what the whole community thought: which arguments people are buying, which ones fell flat, and which camps have surprising agreement.
Want to go further? Get matched one-on-one with someone who sees the topic differently. Explain your thinking, react to their opinions, and have a private chat if you both want to keep talking. No followers. No trolls. No grandstanding.

You set the pace. Go daily or drop in when a topic grabs you, any day of the week.

Sandbox is for politically curious people who want to find out what they're missing. Left, right, or somewhere off the map, you've got a seat at the table.

### 5/5 — Empathy Incubator

*2026-06-28*

Great developer team and participant community. You really get to see how others are thinking about the world right now, without much risk of confrontation or high emotions. They have a cool mix of features that allow you to participate in different ways.

### 2/5 — Great concept—not implemented well

*2026-02-16*

I started doing the surveys at the start and it really didnt feel informative enough. It would talk about an issue i never heard about, tells me one paragraph that only represents one side. It asks me to ask if i agree with things when i dont know enough about it to for a real decision. Feels like it is just going to confirm biases and influence people more than create a safe place where both sides get to thoroughly explain themselves before making you pick a side.

**Developer response:** Hi there. This review made us rethink Sandbox. You helped us realize we had to make it a LOT easier to get up to speed on a topic and a lot easier to weigh in. If you give us another try, you'll notice that each day starts with a briefing that introduces the landscape of arguments on the topic - no more reading articles for an hour. The briefing lays out the strongest arguments on all sides, so you're forming your own view rather than being nudged toward anyone else's. The daily survey is now based on concise versions of those arguments; you just sort them into 'agree', 'disagree', and 'not sure'. Both features were built because of your review. Thank you for taking the time to tell us what was broken. I hope you'll give us another try. Sincerely, Lee.

### 5/5 — Perfect for modern America

*2026-02-03*

This app is really a perfect place to go and have some good political conversations without all the shouting. Exactly what modern America needs

### 1/5 — Umm..😬

*2025-11-29*

Although I love the idea. I never finished the account making process as it required Ridiculously personal information to complete. such as first name, last name and location this make me feel wildly unsafe especially a being part of a targeted minority group, talking about politics.

**Developer response:** Hi, I'm sorry it took so long to get back to you. We haven't been doing a great job of minding this part of the store, so to speak. You were right to call us out for requiring more info than necessary. We've trimmed it a lot: last name is now just a last initial, and for location only state is required, with city optional. Just as important, here's what a survey partner actually sees about you: first name, last initial, state, political self ID. Nobody you're paired with sees more than that. We're trying to strike the balance between letting a partner know you're a real person and protecting your anonymity, and your review pushed us toward more anonymity. I hope you'll give us another try, on your terms.

### 5/5 — This is how dialogue should be

*2025-11-02*

A great place to come IF you are open to listening to opposing viewpoints and willing to engage in those in a respectful fashion.

### 3/5 — Love the app, will not stay logged in

*2025-08-15*

I have used this since it was first started I think and I love the app, love the connections it gives me to others, but it will not stay logged i to my gmail account t. Every time it closes I have to go through the process of clicking the Google, going through the Google Add process, and finally I get in. I also get almost no push notifications because of this.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no change. Been doing it for over a month and is about 4-5 times a day varying on how often I check the app. Very frustrated

**Developer response:** Hey Jeff - This was a nasty bug. It's been fixed. I hope version 2.0 has been treating you well. Thanks for being a Sandboxer! --Lee

### 3/5 — Quick Improvement

*2025-07-13*

Loved using Sandbox this first week and will continue to do so. Huge problem came into view today: chat ends at midnight Sunday and I hadn’t even really began my conversation yet. Can chat be extended through the next day as well? If it can, that’ll be five star quality

### 5/5 — Thought-provoking

*2025-07-03*

Great selection of prompts and user base so far has been eager to engage in meaningful discussion about politics despite personal differences. Eye-opening indeed!

### 5/5 — Great Concept

*2025-06-28*

I’ve enjoyed the discussions over the last few weeks. I wish there were more right leaning people joining. So far it seems to lean heavily middle left. I was looking forward to meaningful discussions with folks with differing viewpoints.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-06-09*

No support

**Developer response:** Hey there - You were one of our very first users, and I'm sorry it took this long to reply. Those early versions were a little bumpy. We've come a long way since. Give it another try, and if anything trips you up, email me directly at support@sandbox.app - I see every email. Sorry we let you down. --Lee

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.0.4 — 2026-08-07

This is the biggest update to Sandbox yet, with two major changes.
First, you no longer need a partner to take part. Each day, you can read a short briefing on the topic, rate a handful of short arguments, and see which camp you land in. At the end of the day, you can see where you fit within the Sandbox community. No partner required.
For those who do want to get paired, matching is now daily. You'll be matched a day at a time instead of a full week. You can get paired any day, and there's no penalty for skipping. Drop in when a topic grabs you and step away when life gets busy.
What's new in detail:
• Daily topic briefings. Get up to speed on each day's topic right in the app: the background, the data, and the arguments shaping the debate.
• Camps. After you rate the day's arguments, see which camp you land in. Camps go beyond left and right to capture the real spread of opinion.
• Community results. Each night, see what the whole community thought about that day's arguments: which ideas resonated, which didn't, which camps the left and right landed in, and where surprising agreement turned up. Results stay available the next day, so you can check back when you have time.
• Shorter, clearer Dialogue prompts. The old assertions could be a lot to parse. Now you'll expand on how you feel about one of the day's key arguments, each shorter and focused on a single idea.
• Daily Chat. When you and your partner finish a daily exchange, a private real-time chat opens automatically. When you've got more to say, keep going.
Same Sandbox, more ways to find out what you're missing.
