### 2/5 — Not a comfortable experience

*2024-10-17*

I am someone that wants to clean up my massive email, but I’ve avoided automated tools (and literally had assistants) to do this because of the fear of it making mistakes.

I was hoping this was using actual ai to make decisions. I suspect it is not. No default (actual ai) filter would take shipping notifications from legit orders I’ve placed this week and actual invitations to events happening next week and lump them in with unimportant advertising emails.

Also, it’s very odd to know that a robot is making decisions about my emails but I have no initial visibility as to where they will end up, how many it’s moved, or what it’s algorithm is designed for during initial setup. In addition the digest is provided once per day and I was shown a “wait 3 hours” message - just felt very obscured.

This type of cleanup app is not for me. Maybe it is for you, but I think you’ll get a similar experience just searching for the word unsubscribe and auto-putting into a separate folder. This did not seem to have any self awareness beyond that.

Also maybe it has these things, but on the first day that I’m letting a robot have full access to my inbox, I expect a more transparent experience. How about asking if I’d like to see a demo of what it’s going to do before the first time it does it?

**Developer response:** Hi Bruck,

We really appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback. If you have a moment, we'd love to setup a demo with you. Just write to: support@sanebox.com and ask for a demo of our iOS app and we'll get that setup.

Some notes about SaneBox:
SaneBox doesn't send or receive your email. It simply works with your current email provider to ensure only important/relevant emails stay in your Inbox. Everything else is filtered into your new SaneBox folders.

When you sign up for SaneBox, we establish a secure connection with your email server so we can monitor incoming email. Our robots analyze your past interactions with your email to figure out what’s important to you. As email comes into your Inbox, we determine its importance and request the server to move it to its appropriate folder. SaneBox does its magic without ever reading the body of the email. It only analyzes data in the header. SaneBox folders are no different than your other email folders, just smarter. If you know how to use folders, you know how to use SaneBox :)

For our digest, you can actually have it scheduled for as many times as you need it. You can read more by visiting our help center: https://www.sanebox.com/help/411-sanebox-companion-app-for-ios

### 3/5 — High Learning Curve

*2024-04-28, version 1.39*

This app sounds really great maybe awesome in its web version. But going back and forth between the app and the built in browser is not a great experience. I will give the web version a try.

### 2/5 — My decision, too complicated

*2023-11-21*

Its too complicated and organised for me.
There if you open received email should be a sub-menu what I want to do with it, once or all the time.

If I have 999 emails in my inbox how can I recognised by receiver if I want to keep it or not.
No no sorry.
Not for me.
Uninstalling after 2 days.

### 4/5 — Great automation - but I fight it sometimes

*2023-11-16*

I really like the ease of being able to drag a message to a folder/mailbox and have a rule automatically created to handle that sender's messages. However, I'm constantly fighting with it because so many sites send verification emails - emails that I want to see immediately in my inbox. What ends up happening is Sanebox moves them before I can open and click on a verification link. This isn't Sanebox's fault - the tool is working exactly as it should and it works very well. But I have not found a solution that can leave some emails where they are or at least leave them for 5 minutes so I don't have to hunt through different mailboxes to find the message.

### 5/5 — Highly recommend 10/10

*2023-09-14, version 1.30*

Love SaneBox as a product. Saves me a ton of time on email. The reminders feature is a game changer.

### 5/5 — 100% recommend

*2023-01-28, version 1.28*

I rarely write reviews for apps, but I downloaded SaneBox on Monday because I had so much spam emails coming in that I thought about just deleting the email entirely. I saw something on youtube and thought I would give it a shot. After 5 days after the initial set up the program learned what emails need to go to the “black hole” and I can already tell the difference of looking at unwanted emails. Overall I would and have recommended this app to friends and family.

### 1/5 — DO NOT USE THIS APP

*2023-01-11, version 1.28*

I used sanebox for many years. It was just ok, not great. I cancelled over the weekend and my emails were not returned to me inbox as indicated, instead they were deleted.
Their customer service is garbage and apple needs to remove this app from their App Store.
DO NOT USE THID APP

### 5/5 — 100% Recommended Saves a Lot of Time

*2022-10-03*

Saves a lot of time and works really well so we would definitely recommend this service.

### 5/5 — One star

*2022-09-25, version 1.27*

One star because your app keeps asking me to rate it. That’s annoying and I hate whoever made the choice to show me this rating dialog time and time again.

### 5/5 — Very Helpful

*2022-09-18*

I had 20,000 emails and the thought of going through and deleting them all was a pure anxiety-inducing nightmare. SaneBox helped clean up those emails with an easy-to-understand method. Love the fact it creates folders for your inbox and you can train certain types of emails where to go so that moving forward, every email is organized exactly where you want it to be. I wish this wasn’t free for just a trial, but this may be one of the first apps I decide to pay to continue using when the free trial ends.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Stole my money over 10k

*2025-09-28, version 1.52*

Right after I gave this app access to my Gmail, it took money out of my crypto accounts, and I saw logins into my Gmail from other locations around the world. This made me come to realize that as soon as I get access to this app that my data was sold. I had my private keys as screenshots in certain emails and I believe that’s how they got into my crypto wallet and stole

### 1/5 — This app is the epitome of hypocrisy

*2025-05-28, version 1.47*

I realized I did not enjoy this app, so I deleted it. Now they constantly send me emails to pay for their subscription. I blocked sandbox and unsubscribed 5 times from the mailing list and you still send me emails. Incredibly predatory behavior from this company. I am so irritated with how I downloaded this app to stop email mailing lists yet this is the most annoying spam emailer I have ever encountered.

### 1/5 — DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!! SUPER SCAM!the most intrusive and scammy app to ever hit the app store!

*2025-03-15*

apple really needs to boot your app and investigate you overly confident scammers off their platform, not only you guys con people into a false sense of nothing what you describe but then you compromise their personal information and mail you then keep them blocked from a full deletion from your app in a very snide and slick way,you may pull this type of practices off in the zoo they call google play but to be on this platform and to scam people out of their own rights and personal information is very bad for you and towards apple

### 1/5 — Fatal Attraction

*2024-12-19*

I didn’t decide to stick with SaneBox. Thank goodness I only tried 1 email address. I took the time to go to their website and CLOSE my account. In addition I unsubscribed to their emails. However every time I open my email I am still missing emails that have been redirected. I have deleted their folders, restarted my phone. Deleted my email from my phone completely and restarted it. Deleting the folders I have done countless times. And STILL I log in to more emails from them, the folders are there still, and they’re still filtering emails. Worst mistake ever!!!

**Developer response:** Did you ever get in touch with our support team? They should be able to assist you in ensuring that your emails are returned to your Inbox and sane folders removed. They can be reached at support@sanebox.com if you are still having problems.

### 1/5 — Poor oerformance

*2024-10-15*

With time performance decreasing, email sorting ability just dimishes and emails getting mixed or lost

**Developer response:** It sounds like you would benefit from some one on one support. SaneBox is highly customizable so it might be that we just need to fine tune your settings. If you change your mind, write to us at support@sanebox.com and we'll be able to adjust SaneBox based on your unique situation.

### 1/5 — Concerned

*2024-02-19, version 1.37*

I have only had the app one day so I’m still in the free trial period. I’m concerned because I can’t find how much it’s going to cost. Every time I click on “see plans” it takes me somewhere with no mention of plans or cost. That information should be upfront. I’m going to delete the app if I don’t find out the price today.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2024-01-11, version 1.37*

Deleted this after I accidentally installed it. Now I can’t get rid of the folders in my Gmail.

### 1/5 — Unmöglich

*2024-01-03, version 1.37*

Also zuverlässig emails erhalten Fehlanzeige.
Keine Empfehlung von meiner Seite.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2023-05-12, version 1.28*

I thought this would help and it set me back 2 weeks trying to undo

### 1/5 — CONFUSING!

*2023-03-06, version 1.28*

This operation should be more simplified. I couldn’t tell what, if anything, I should do even from the odd tutorial. Also, immediately upon installation, It solicited for related apps.

*2026-04-03, version 1.56*

Keeping me SANE 🤯

### 5/5 — Worth it!

*2026-02-19*

I am neurodivergent and chronically ill, and despite several cleanup attempts, email has been a nightmare for me for years. It often causes overwhelming anxiety and avoidance.

SaneBox has a learning curve. Their FAQs are helpful, but the unfamiliar terminology and difficulty in locating certain settings can be challenging. However, once you understand it and customize your system, it becomes a lifesaver!

I'm immensely grateful for SaneBox. It truly brings sanity to my inbox.

### 5/5 — Best thing ever

*2025-06-06, version 1.47*

Love the fact that I don’t actually need to go into my email to train

### 5/5 — Great for this Autistic!

*2025-06-06*

SaneBox isn’t just another productivity tool; it’s a neurodivergent-friendly support system that empowers me to manage my inbox in a way that aligns with how my brain works. It brings clarity, reduces overwhelm, and helps me stay on top of what matters—without the constant noise.

Sane Box has saved me so much time, I used to get so much unwanted mail and would spend countless hours just trying to go through them all. This has been the best time saver and has helped me so much. I have recommended this to family and friends.

### 5/5 — It really works

*2024-10-09, version 1.39*

I read the book by back your time. This app does buy back your time. It’s great!

### 5/5 — Sane is a brilliant tool for organising a busy inbox

*2024-05-11*

I’ver used Sane for about 10 months now. It is a great tool, the emails automatically come in and go to the relevant folder. I will continue to use it for the long term.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-05-02*

Great app. Love it. Saves so much time and mental capacity.

### 5/5 — Beste app om je mails te opruimen

*2024-01-28, version 1.37*

Zo simpel en dudelijk en snel top !

### 5/5 — 1000% worth the annual subscription

*2023-09-15*

The free app is great, but don't stop there! SaneBox makes email soooo much more efficient. I especially love the feature that reminds me when to follow up with someone I haven't heard back from. My emails are always neatly organized, too.
