It feels impossible to improve because one mistake 5 turns ago can lose the game, but there’s no way to go back and study it. Needs a rewind/replay feature badly. ### 3/5 — Tutorials don’t work *2025-03-14, version 1.121* The implementation of the board game is pretty fine but I was disappointed to find that all the links to the tutorials don’t work. The timer just spins and spins. It’s been so long since an update that it seems that maybe there are no plans to keep the app up to date. If you like the game and want to play against an AI this is fine but just know that you won’t have access to the tutorials. I don’t know if the game will continue to be playable over time without updates. Or il manque une fonction essentielle quand on joue à un tel jeu contre un ordinateur, c’est la fonction « retour/undo » quand on a fini de totalement valider un coup car c’est aussi comme cela qu’on peut apprendre de ses erreurs (comme aux échecs par exemple). It is beautiful and elegant. I have played the app off and on for years, and I still find new things to learn. Santorini is a much deeper and more nuanced game than many given it credit for. Minus 1/2 star because I have occasional crashes, which are frustrating. Minus 1/2 star because there is no random player order. I hate resetting a match just to change start order. The game is simply fantastic. however, the app crashes every once in a while, when I’m playing an opponent—one of my friends—online. If that could be fixed, and if they added a save mode, so you could play the same match throughout the day, rather than having to finish the game right away when you start (if you leave the app for longer than 20 seconds or so, it kicks you out and ends the match), this app would be perfect! ### 3/5 — Love the game but it keeps crashing *2023-02-08, version 1.121* I am obsessed with the board game. I burnt my husband out on it though so I had to download it on my phone and play against the AI to quench my addiction. Unfortunately the game keeps crashing, usually when the game is only a few moves from completion. It's incredibly frustrating. The amount of detail surprises me (especially for a board game app). I don’t play online, but it’s a great way to pick gods (and regulate matchups as it doesn’t select banned matchups) or pass the time against the AI when I’m not playing the actual game with friends. I do wish the helper portion of the game had a map section that would track your piece movement play whenever you are using a god who would otherwise be using the shield/hidden map options (e.g. Hecate). I know you can play a parallel 2 human game on your phone to track things in the board game but I would prefer not to have to pay to unlock gods again on my phone when I’ve bought the physical game already. ### 5/5 — Great mobile version *2021-01-27, version 1.120* This game is great and the mobile adaptation is solid. There art is breathtaking and the user interface is highly usable on smaller devices like phones. There were some issues losing the video tutorials from within the app last I checked, but you can find them online. My only request would be that they do PC port. I’ve been burned one too many times by iOS changing things and games become unplayable because developers aren’t generating enough new income on older titles to justify the update. Please release it for PC! ### 5/5 — Stunning! *2020-07-11, version 1.116* I am ashamed to admit I am generally lazy when it comes to reviews and rarely take the time to write them, even when I’ve had a good time with an app. In the case of Santorini I felt compelled to do a review. This is because of a simple reason: the attention to detail on display here is just mindblowing. From just the pure visuals which are not only faithful to an already beautiful physical board game, but bring it to life in the most well executed way, to the fact that each god power seems to come with its own animations for the workers and effects for special powers (🤯), to the lovely music, which, get this, when a winning move is within reach, crescendos to a more triumphant loop. I mean... it’s just crazy! This is an approach usually reserved for AAA games, no doubt the game would be perfectly playable without this level of polish, but personally I have to just take a bow when I see this uncompromising passion put into a product. The fact that in this case it’s not a console holiday season blockbuster, but a digital conversion of a somewhat niche (albeit awesome) board game, is both slightly amusing, but mainly extremely commendable. Hats off to you devs, thank you for the love you’ve put into this conversion and I hope this review does its bit to help your game achieve the reach it deserves. ### 5/5 — Sehr gut *2020-05-03, version 1.116* Das Spiel ist wunderbar und sehr fordernd. Durch die verschiedenen Götter ist jedes Spiel komplett anders und fordert eine andere Strategie. Aber warum? Und dafür kann ich aber leider keinen Stern abziehen, beginnt die Poseidon-Mission mit Godlike? und wird dann leichter?
