### 4/5 — USA today network newspapers

*2022-04-10, version 3.5.12*

As a subscriber of another USA today network newspaper from Rochester New York the major value of subscribing to the Sarasota Herald Tribune is to see local news. I find it interesting that the national and international news have the identical pageSet up with the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle.

### 5/5 — Great choice for reading the paper

*2022-01-12, version 3.3.14*

We have had a long time subscription to the Herald Tribune in the paper version. But we are finding that by enrolling to the digital version. Plus, we don’t waste paper and can read the articles any time or place on our iPhones. It was a good move. Nancy DeMarte

### 4/5 — Works well

*2022-01-06, version 3.3.14*

No complaints. The App works well enough, navigation is straightforward, and I can run through the paper easily. Like having post the print paper layout and ability to move to an easy read mode.

### 5/5 — Convenient. Never wet.

*2021-11-16, version 3.3.14*

I like having the paper available every single morning, on time and dry, even when I’m traveling. It took a little adjustment to the iPad paper, but it was worth it.

### 5/5 — Great way to access paper while traveling

*2021-10-20, version 3.3.14*

The app works well even on an iPad mini. Great way to follow the news while traveling

### 4/5 — Keeps me well informed

*2021-10-12, version 3.3.14*

As a summer escapee, I keep up with Sarasota and environs news using the digital version of the Sarasota Herald Tribune. Really miss the in-person activities listed in the Ticket, but get ideas for our November return. Certainly enjoy the Letters to the Editor. Although there are some frightening positions presented.

Thank you.

### 4/5 — Big improvements

*2021-08-28, version 3.3.14*

This app has made significant improvements. Much more reliable and I have not been required to reboot the app once since installing the new app.

### 5/5 — Better than paper in some ways

*2021-08-27, version 3.3.14*

We print out Sunday e-crossword very easily, much better than photocopying or scanning the paper. We can read our local news while traveling too. We especially like to see the print edition online: it allows us to see which stories the editors think most important and we can also skim the ads, jump straight to opinion or sports etc. And getting the entire USA newspaper online is a great bonus. We had decided the paper was becoming too expensive but now we can keep reading it online for a reasonable amount.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2021-08-10, version 3.3.14*

It’s just like reading the paper but easier. No flipping for “continued on page x”. Tap an article your interested in if you want easy reading; or just browse through it like the home delivered version.

### 4/5 — If it is not broken, DON’T FIX IT.

*2021-06-17, version 3.3.14*

The service is good, don’t change anything. However I would like to know how to work the search feature.

It sure beats the fish wrapping paper. But, why did you change the page turning arrows to disappear so fast?

### 5/5 — Easy to stay informed

*2021-06-15, version 3.3.14*

I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to make the switch from paper to digital but so far it’s been great.

### 5/5 — Sarasota herald tribune app is great

*2021-05-01, version 3.2.64*

I’ve made the transition from paper to my iPad and every morning I sit down with my iPad and coffee and read the Sarasota Herald-Tribune on the app. It is put together perfectly, easy to navigate and to read. Love it.

### 5/5 — Very User Friendly

*2021-04-13, version 3.2.64*

Navigation between pages is easy. I like that the entire article is shown so I don’t have to change pages to finish it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2022-01-07, version 3.3.14*

The app works OK but the paper is a waste of money. Sunday sports don’t get reported till Tuesday. A big portion of the news articles come from USA Today a day or more late and the Tampa Bay Times. Good luck trying to cancel your subscription. Can’t do it from the website or app so it requires a phone call with extended wait time. On top of that, after finally cancelling I was charged for another month. Waste of money.

### 1/5 — Liberal View

*2021-07-20, version 3.3.14*

So disappointed as they only print the liberal view of the news! Very hard to get good reporting from this paper today. What happened to real reporting the news and stop this hateful one sided complete liberal view of events. This is going to come back to bite them big time! Some of the writers have no idea what the heck is really happening in this country and what direction we are headed. This is so sad to see this in the news reporting today. Shame on them.

### 1/5 — Worse with every update

*2021-07-03, version 3.3.14*

It was bad enough when ads started to appear. Especially when I pay to be a subscriber. But then the ad placements increased, which impacted performance and interrupted reading. To ad insult to injury, the app now crashes constantly on my 1 year old iPad. I can’t get through an article without it crashing. When it does work, sometimes I’ll tap on an article to read it, and nothing displays. I’ll then have to go back and forth tapping two different articles, and eventually it will display. But then a few minutes in, it will crash - again.

Junk.

### 1/5 — Terrible!!

*2021-03-26, version 3.1.76*

I don’t know what “improvements” you made in the last week, but suddenly the app doesn’t open the paper. Instead, I have to choose between “app,” browser,” and “e-book.” (Browser and e-book don’t work at all.). “App” shows me the digital edition, but only lets me read articles in a sidebar. Previously, the electronic edition was like reading a real paper - I could browse articles and pages easily. Please give me back my real electronic paper!
While you’re at it, could you correct how it loads? The print is often blurry and impossible to read. It eventually loads clearly, but by then I’ve often gone to an alternate news source - Apple News or The Gondolier.

### 1/5 — App is broken on IOS 14

*2020-10-05, version 3.1.76*

I have iPad Pro running latest iOS 14.0.1. Newspaper app constantly crashes and closes when I click on an article to view. Anybody at Sarasota Herald Tribune awake? Newspapers are such technological dinosaurs. Please fix and implement a system of ongoing QC testing so your paying subscribers are not left unable to navigate your paper for weeks while you fumble around and pretend to be digital. Thank you

### 2/5 — Local news from a liberal slant

*2023-01-27, version 3.5.12*

Local coverage from a liberal point of view and canned national news from the mainstream liberals - all a day later than available elsewhere. Seriously, why bother reporting yesterday’s sports scores as “late”? Do you really think readers have an interest in what happened in the stock market 2 days ago?
Just stick with local news and at least give the appearance of objective coverage.

### 2/5 — Too frequent sign in requests +

*2018-09-03, version 2.8.27*

It seems over the past few months I have to sign in again at least once a week & sometimes twice a week on my iPad. It also happens on my desktop computer, but not quite as often. This interruption often happens when I’m switching from one article to the next.

Another problem that has been going on since the app started is that the words in a sentence run together (with no spaces between the words) which is annoying. But even worse is the fact that sometimes articles that start on Page 1 can’t be found to continue elsewhere. I have noted on many occasions that sometimes whole pages contain totally different content than the real paper.

I have to wonder why, after all this time, these problems have not shown any improvement.

### 3/5 — Great paper EXCEPT

*2023-07-25*

Stock market closing data is one day old. Hard to believe that the Sarasota Herald Tribune continues this as sports and all other events are reported correctly. No excuse for this one day delay in market closing information. How confusing for readers. How embarrassing with todays instant information so readily available.
Sports section, Restaurant reviews and real estate information is excellent. Entertainment section is a keeper.

### 3/5 — Not the best

*2022-04-12, version 3.5.12*

It’s OK. You CAN a read the paper, but to do a whole article, you need to go to INDEX, find it, then go BACK to the overview to find anything else. ANNOYING. The PHONE VERSION a allows you to TAP on an article and go right to reader view and then back again! That would be great here! But…no one listens.

The app is slow to load and uses a lot of power when viewing. It’s response to SHARING is slow and poor. The Newspaper is again trying to decide what it’s identity is by switching between Left days and Right days and, in doing so, is coming off as wishy washy.

If I had another source of some local news, I would drop this.

Why don’t the increase in costs come from advertisers instead of the readers? And delivery of the paper edition is subbed out and is a disaster.

### 4/5 — New to this

*2022-05-14, version 3.5.12*

New to the app. New to this media. Still learning. The app is easy to use. My phone easily runs the app. (iPhone). Looking to use a search feature for looking up old articles and organizing. Thank you

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Easy to use!

*2023-02-12, version 3.5.12*

We really appreciate the ease of flipping through pages and keeping in touch with news back home from wherever we are in the world…today Athens, Greece.

### 5/5 — Convenient to read on iPhone.

*2022-10-05, version 3.5.12*

Ability to isolate and enlarge one article at a time makes for an easy read on a small device Good app like this makes it easy to read the news fast.

### 5/5 — Read it daily

*2022-09-30, version 3.5.12*

I fully support having daily local news. Don’t rely on all that’s floating around on the internet. Know your reporters and support them.

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2022-08-05, version 3.5.12*

Very easy to page though the newspaper and expand articles to read in depth.

### 5/5 — Very satisfied

*2022-08-04, version 3.5.12*

Functional app and informative, well-written articles about local news. Sometimes I also catch a bit of national news that I missed elsewhere.

### 5/5 — Very impressive

*2022-07-06, version 3.5.12*

I was a long time subscriber for the paper version for many years. Over time, the paper got smaller and the price kept increasing so I canceled my subscription. I recently received a very enticing offer for the digital version so I subscribed once again. The format is excellent and very user friendly. The best part of all is that this version includes several extras not found in the paper version.

### 5/5 — Easy to navigate

*2022-06-22, version 3.5.12*

Never thought I would read my newspaper digitally but I love it!

It is easy to read and easy to navigate.

### 5/5 — Convenient and quick service

*2022-06-22, version 3.5.12*

Really enjoying my e-version of the Herald Tribune. I can decide how quickly I want to scan it each day or if I have time I can read it cover to cover.

### 5/5 — Glad to have newspaper to read on line.

*2022-04-04, version 3.5.12*

Thought i’d never get used to this online part instead of holding paper in my hands…..but I did. Plus, I don’t have the weather to confront when getting the paper from the street.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2022-01-17, version 3.3.14*

Extremely easy to use on any device. It’s the way I keep up with everything happening in the Sarasota area. I recommend this to everyone.
