## What is Sargassum?

The Sargassum APP lets you record the amount of seaweed which washes up on beaches.  You report on the seaweed mat's coverage on the beach as well as its thickness.  You can also take a photo if you wish.  When you upload the information your coordinates are provided and scientists can use the information to document changes over time.   

Recent reports are shown on a map.  You can use this information to help plan your beach day but remember, many communities clear their beaches daily.

This App is being discontinued.  The costs to maintain the online photograph library have now exceeded my capabilities.  Thank you very much for participating, your input has been very much appreciated.

Fixed an issue with the map which would make icons disappear.

### 30 — 2025-11-30

Now the maps center on the users location.

### 29 — 2025-11-10

Added a button to zoom to your location.

### 28 — 2025-09-02

Corrections to startup screen refresh and cleanup of formatting for the LIST screen and also has a screen that shows examples of beach coverage.
