### 4/5 — Critical Alerts & Availabilty

*2020-11-07*

App seems to be well thought through, needs to add the critical alert feature for emergency pages to allow the alert tone to sound while the phone is on silent.
Availability needs a small tweak to make it a bit more user friendly - something like the table feature on bart

### 4/5 — SAS - Needs “Critical Alerts” iPhone.

*2020-10-27*

The app is great, Needs an easier way to input availability, also needs critical alerts (iPhones)

Being a volunteer it’s handy to be able to have this option for alerts to come through on your phone at night with all others muted.

Availability selector isn’t as easy to input and understand, Just a simplified time selector with multiple days and easy enough to use similar to BART.

### 4/5 — Seems to work well

*2020-10-08*

Map route function is great. Can you make it so that we only get notifications when the app is running? I don’t want to be getting notifications when I’m not available.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Unreliable logs you off

*2025-03-09*

Every second time you open the app you need to log in again. Missed most of the call out alerts. Being an emergency service app, this definitely needs to be better. It somehow works all the time for one of my brigade member, while most of us had trouble with the automatic log offs.

### 1/5 — Feedback

*2020-09-14*

Unlike BART this app doesn’t have critical alerts and won’t notify you of messages when downtime is enabled on a device. All pager messages are defaulted to the same tone regardless of urgency, and tone selections sound like every other app on my phone. Really needs a siren or something to stand out. And lastly, there’s no in app feedback button to feedback these sort of comments.

### 2/5 — Ridiculously annoying update

*2024-05-05*

So, we used to be able to have 3 pagers listed and in the last update, we only have one. I work on 3 different trucks a week and now I have to input the pager numbers each day. This is ridiculous! Why have you removed our linked pager boxes?? The app is no longer helpful to us for our shifts and we will be removing it.

### 2/5 — Has potential

*2020-12-06*

The app has the potential to be great but unfortunately falls short in most areas, with most of the features feeling like they got started but never finished off properly.

It seems like the developers searched through BART for all the great/user friendly features and then said ‘we won’t be using these’.

Undoubtably the worst feature is the availability. It is tediously difficult to set, read and understand and then once you have invested the extraordinary amount of time for what should be a simple task, the only person that can see it is yourself. Why would I need to see my own availability, I already know it? The two biggest reasons for having a ‘S.A.S.’ Is for those without pagers and to know your brigades availability to make decisions around taking time off, predicting crewing availability and to see who will be attending each job. Unless you’re admin and prepared to constantly download a report as people update their availability, the feature is useless, except for the seeing who’s attending portion.

The general layout and look is quite good but given that it’s a phone, you want to be able to click attending before driving so being able to do from the pager screen without clicking right into each job would be better. Also, iPhone needs to add the critical alerts feature.

### 2/5 — Won’t stay logged in

*2020-10-25*

Seems to have a common issue with iPhone users where it logs out of the app every 24-48hrs making it a little annoying when trying to log attendance for a job as you often need to log in again from scratch.

The app needs to stay logged in just like BART.

### 3/5 — Quicker than Pager

*2022-12-06*

I have found that the VicEmergency App alerts first, followed by SAS and then the Pager.

Have had been logged out a few times without knowing it. Wouldn’t solely rely on it.

Would be handy if it was available on Apple Watch, particularly for using directions to an incident.

### 3/5 — Not bad for launch

*2020-09-14*

Seems to work along very similar lines to BART. A few things that are buggy are the availability calendar, when you post ongoing availability it can’t save it. Yet to play with full features but great to finally have this live. Look forward to more updates as we all test and learn.

### 4/5 — Enhancement Request

*2026-04-12*

Overall a good app but it would be really useful to allow Notification volume to changed based on time of day (or manually)

Loud notifications are great for daytime but at night it would be great to be able to have a less intrusive one … otherwise the whole house gets woken up (which isn’t great for marital harmony!)

At there moment there is no ability to adjust the volume of notifications… it would be a welcome addition.

### 4/5 — Dec 25 update

*2025-12-10*

Great to have CarPlay Integration.

Would have been good to be able to respond Green, Yellow or Red via the CarPlay screen. Especially as when a job comes through, I have to hit dismiss anyway to clear the message.

### 4/5 — Navigate to event

*2025-05-13*

I have used this app since it was started. I do love it, but lately I have found a glitch which is worrying. I ask it to navigate myself to the event. It directs me to Point Cook every time, instead of the actual event. I live 3 hours from Point Cook, in regional Victoria. So this is a problem.

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Unable to fix error message

*2025-02-17*

Recently my app began showing error#1022 in push notifications (iPhone), I can no longer mute or unmute. So new jobs don’t alert for me. Also shows #1070 in global settings. I’m in Ambulance space, our IT guys were only able to advise me to delete and reinstall, this hasn’t helped. Also tried resetting iPhone, still no luck. App is virtually useless at present as it won’t alert to a new job.

### 5/5 — Very quick

*2020-09-21*

I’ve been very surprised and impressed with how quick the app has worked

It would be good if it had a feature to allow critical alerts while your phone is in do not disturb mode

Well done to all the agencies and the developers involved

### 4/5 — Possible enhancements

*2024-09-08*

I gave been using SAS for about 6 months as a SES volunteer and find it very good to use. During the recent weather event, August 2024, the app alerted hundreds of times and one day probably every minute when a new job was assigned. I was frustrating when searching for a job say from the previous day and a new job alerts. The app will refresh the page to the new job. So you then have to scroll back through the hundreds of jobs to search again.
2 possible enhancements.
1. Add a search by job number
2. Do not refresh the job page when a new job alert comes in.

### 4/5 — Works okay

*2024-06-09*

Seems to definitely have some bugs in the settings ie. when you go to add an agency and SAS doesn’t really register it.
Alert sounds could be a bit louder.

### 4/5 — Great App, still needs work.

*2023-07-10*

Seems to alert me to fire calls about 10-30 secs before pager. Availability feature needs a lot of work as it is currently difficult to enter availability. A feature where members can ‘chat’ or comment on specific fire calls would be beneficial.

### 4/5 — A reasonable start

*2021-05-02*

I find the app pretty straight forward to use and has always gone off before BART and well before my pager. Like many others this needs a “critical alert” setting. My phone is always on silent at night so this setting is very important to me. Until this setting is available I’ll continue to use BART.

### 4/5 — Great launch

*2020-11-21*

App works great going off on average 18 seconds before the pager but one day went off 2 minutes before the pager was enough time to already be at the station.

Only down fall is the sounds are not great. We need louder sounds that will wake you like BART had, incase the pager is flat which happened to me. I would have given 5 stars but because of the sound issues I can only give 4. Hope to see more sounds added sooner rather than later.
