## What is Saturated Fat Counter Tracker?

Saturated fat increases LDL "bad" cholesterol and is a cause of many inflammatory diseases through its effect on the immune system. Use this app to lower intake to protect from atherosclerosis, coronary artery disease, stroke, hypertension, type 2 diabetes, obesity, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), some cancers (esp. bowel, breast, prostate), depression, anxiety, Alzheimer's dementia, Parkinson's disease, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.
Set your daily saturated fat intake based on guidance provided in the app and your preferences for weights of food (g or oz).
Record food and beverage consumption using the barcode scanner, dictation, search or by favoriting foods and using the serving sizes provided (which can be changed at any time). Tap the notepad to add notes. Compare the saturated fat content of diffferent foods by tapping the Compare button on the "Foods" screen.
Monitor daily and long-term progress, export data to share with healthcare providers, synchronize data with other First Line Medical Communications Ltd nutrient counter apps, and share data with Apple's HealthKit.
Add your own foods and recipes and change serving sizes to personalise the app's 400-item database for you.
All food and beverage popups indicate whether the item is a plant, good prebiotic, probiotic or ultra-processed food (UPF) to inform a healthy diet and whether they are high or low FODMAP per serving where data are available to support people with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Useful lists show saturated fat content of foods per 1oz or 100g and serving, which can be toggled from high to low & low to high. Also useful UPF, unprocessed plant, prebiotic, probiotic, high & low FODMAP food lists.

### 5/5 — A Great App

*2026-07-26*

Some months ago I was told I had a high cholesterol/saturated fats count and needed to bring it down. As an aide I downloaded this app. I have to say it’s been invaluable in helping me to get my levels down. Very easy to use and keeps a record of all my saturated fat consumption. Simply scan your food label and enter the number of servings you had. It really is simple. Not only have my saturated fats levels fallen to “excellent” but I’ve lost weight too. A highly recommended aid in lowering saturated fats/cholesterol.

**Developer response:** So pleased you have found the app beneficial and great to know that it has helped you lower your saturated fat levels to excellent and that it has helped you lose weight. Many thanks for taking the time to post this review.

### 4/5 — Four months in, I like the app and have suggestions

*2026-01-21*

Overall this has been very helpful in tracking my saturated fat intake. I've been using it for more than four months and I like it. There are some things that could be improved, though.

For example, there is no calorie tracker. You have to pay for a second app that they say integrates into this app. I chose not to buy another app.

Another needed improvement relates to the process of adding a new food to the database. Why do we have to say how many ounces per portion/slice/whatever?? It is required to proceed but I don't use it or like it and I just type in nonsense so thst I can proceed. I don't want to have to figure out the oz per serving. It's an obstacle more than anything.

Also, I would like to be able to edit previous days. Like if I ate something yesterday but forgot to log it, let me edit yesterday's log, please. This is needed for long-term logging. At the moment, I can look back at previous logs but cannot add to them.

I would also like to see improved consistency in the food listings. We have "yellow corn tortillas" but "bread, white." (Why not "corn tortillas, yellow"?) Another example is "skim milk" vs. "milk, whole." Search is slowed down by these inconsistencies.

My biggest issue is that when you are adding a food to your database, the app asks you to put in the amount of saturated per ounce. In the United States at least, food labels do not give you the info per ounce. Our food labels list that information per serving. This discrepancy is a real annoyance.

This is a good app and I use it every day, and I'm providing suggestions so that the developers can continue to improve it.

**Developer response:** Many thanks for this review and glad the app is helpful. We do have an app that includes saturated fat and calories and also carb, protein and fiber called "Macro Counter and and Tracker". Meanwhile in response to your other issues, these should not be issues, and we can provide you with appropriate support for adding in a new food easily and also for editing previous days' intake. Please email us and we will send you appropriate screenshots to guide you — see "How to use the app" instruction 16, Contact us.

### 4/5 — Synch problems

*2025-07-13*

I like this app but have stopped using it on 2 devices because the synching doesn’t work properly. I recently downloaded it again on my 2nd device and still not right. On device #2 it synched as far as my daily entries go, but did not synch many of my database items. So, many of the daily entries are greyed out as there is no DB data for them, meaning they register no saturated fat. I have downgraded my rating accordingly.

**Developer response:** Please use our support address (support@firstlinemedicalcommunications.co.uk — see How to use the app 16. Contact us) with details of the devices and models you're using and some relevant screenshots so we can help you find a solution to your synch problems.

### 5/5 — Wow!

*2024-08-14*

This is exactly what I've needed. I have been trying to keep track of my daily saturated fat intake for 8 months and my friend suggested I try an app. Here's what I love about it:
-- There are suggestions, but I can set my own goal preferences and have a visual of my daily sat-fat intake!
-- I can look at my overall progress for the month with a very easy visual representation.
-- I can scan foods from the barcodes for super fast/easy tracking
-- I can search or save favorite food items from a large list of food options that don't have barcodes
-- I CAN LINK THIS TO MY HEALTH APP through Apple if I choose to in order to include the cholesterol/diet component in my overall picture of my health progress!

**Developer response:** Thank you so much @kmillyjones for this wonderful review. So pleased to hear that you are able to appreciate all the functions we include with the app and that it is making a difference to your life.

### 4/5 — Good Simple Tool

*2024-05-10*

I really like this app. It is no-nonsense, easy to use. Instead of logging everything I eat, I just track things I know have some saturated fat. The app easily keeps count and has a reasonable database that you can add to just by scanning barcodes or typing in the data. So it hardly takes me any time in the day and I can keep within my required limits. I’ve tried other apps but they overwhelm with detail. I can stick to this one because I know I will use it and it will help me. Not giving 5 stars because a lot of the barcodes aren’t recognised and it is not Australian oriented.

**Developer response:** Many thanks for posting this review. Glad you find the app useful and it is helping you avoid excessive saturated fat intake. Hope you find the new features in the update 2.11.1 (will be available soon) helpful.

### 5/5 — Just what I was looking

*2024-01-06*

A lot of skill and knowledge has gone into creating this app. Unfortunately I have severe coronary artery disease and so it’s imperative that I track my saturated fat intake which is quite low. This is a really valuable app for me. It’s well thought out and for anyone that will take a few minutes to review the appand set up the data. It will make their lives easier and healthier. Thank you to the developers. Nothing else like that out there.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for this review — we are extremely pleased to know that the app is making your life easier and healthier. This sort of feedback is inspirational for us in our mission to develop apps to inform & support diets to protect from or manage disease.

### 4/5 — Not what I was after

*2023-11-13*

I was trying to increase my saturated fat and reduce my polyunsaturated fat, but this app doesn’t seem to record fats the way I need for this purpose.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. We will be publishing a polyunsaturated fat counter in the next couple of weeks. We previously published a fat counter that included saturated, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fat, but we discontinued it because users found it too complicated.

### 1/5 — Not user friendly and very confusing

*2023-02-06*

Not many foods listed in the data base, and even when adding your own foods, it’s very confusing and unclear. I want to choose my own serving size and not have to figure out the grams based on the apps g/100 g. If there’s a way to do this I sure couldn’t figure it out. When entering foods in the tracker from the list you created of your foods, it’s still difficult and requires a calculator.

**Developer response:** When you first use the app you are asked to decide upon your settings including "Select your preferred units for weight — g (metric) or oz (Imperial)" and "Select how you wish information to be displayed" Choose "Target", "Serving" or "Amount" for saturated fat content to be displayed as %Target/Serving, %Target/100g, %Target/1oz, g/100g, or g/oz. This is how you change from g/100g to the way you wish to use the app. And there is certainly no need to use a calculator when you customise your settings to your needs.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2022-11-04*

The data base hardly has any foods with saturated fats in it making it very hard to list and track the the fat intake. Find another app.

**Developer response:** Many foods such as fruits and vegetables don't contain saturated fat, but they should still be listed in your daily intake — this is particularly important if you have bought the app as part of the "Anti-inflammation app bundle", the "Diet for a healthy weight app bundle" or the "DASH diet app bundle for heart health" when you will want to record your food and drink intake only once yet see your real-time and long-term progress for each app within the bundle, which is achieved by synchronizing the apps on the Settings screen. There is also a barcode scanner so you can scan your branded products. Record the foods you eat using the barcode scanner, speech recognition, by favoriting foods, or by using search function and use the serving sizes provided (mainly those suggested by USDA Food Data Central) or change to your serving size. Your progress towards your target daily intake will be visible immediately in real-time. You can also view your progress over time on the Month view dashboard, and export food diaries and saturated fat intake into a spreadsheet for your own information or to share with healthcare providers.
