## What is Sauna Assistant?

Turn heat and cold into a ritual.

Sauna Assistant guides your home sauna from first round to final rest. Pick a ritual, press start, and let calm audio cues carry you through heat, cold and quiet. Your iPhone stays outside the sauna and plays through your sauna's speakers.

  NEW: MAKE THE SAUNA YOURS

  - Build your own theme with your own ambience and round sounds, a gradient, a symbol and a tip
  - Share a theme as a file, and a friend can open it straight into their app
  - Custom themes sync to your iPhone and Apple Watch through iCloud

  GUIDED RITUALS

  - Follow scripted rituals like Finnish Classic (Löyly) and Evening Wind-down: warm-up, rounds, rests, plunges and a closing ceremony
  - Hands-free mode moves you from round to rest to plunge on its own
  - Adjust the next round, skip a plunge or wrap up early without losing your flow
  - Gentle hydration nudges during rests

  SAUNA & COLD PLUNGE SESSIONS

  - Build your own sessions with custom rounds and countdowns
  - Add cold plunges between rounds, or start a standalone plunge
  - Track plunge time, water temperature, humidity and room temperature
  - Follow along on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island with Live Activities
  - Widgets: Quick Start a sauna or plunge, see this week's sessions and streak, or repeat your last ritual in one tap
  - Control sessions with Siri, Bluetooth headphones or Apple Watch

  IMMERSIVE SOUNDSCAPES

  - 17 ambient themes including Wood-Fired, Ocean, Zen, Forest Walk, Thunderstorm and Winter
  - Round-specific audio cues and wellness tips during rests
  - Switch themes mid-session, or go silent when you want complete focus

  APPLE HOME & HEATERS

  - Trigger your Apple Home scenes when a session starts, pauses, resumes or ends
  - Monitor live temperature and humidity from compatible HomeKit sensors
  - Connect a Saunum LEIL heater over Wi-Fi to see cabin temperature and heater status
  - Log min, max and average conditions for every round

  HEART RATE & HEALTH

  - See live heart rate and zones during sauna and plunge sessions with Apple Watch
  - Save sessions to Apple Health as Mindful Minutes
  - Plunges are saved as separate workouts, so you can see how your heart rate responds to cold on its own

  PROGRESS & ACHIEVEMENTS

  - Session history with statistics and trends across months
  - A 12-week activity heatmap and streaks
  - Achievements for consistency, endurance and variety
  - Share session cards with friends

  BUILT FOR SAUNA OWNERS

  - Separate profiles for multiple saunas: home, cottage, gym
  - Maintenance journal for stones, heater checks, cleaning and repairs, with costs and dates
  - Sessions and maintenance side by side on one timeline

  PRIVATE BY DESIGN

  - Pay once, own it forever. No subscription, no in-app purchases
  - No account required
  - Your history syncs privately through your own iCloud

Sauna Assistant is for people who want more than a timer: a calmer, more intentional sauna and cold-plunge ritual.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 27.0 — 2026-10-01

Make the sauna yours. Build your own theme with your own sounds, colors and symbol, and share it with a friend.

NEW

  - Custom themes: give your theme a name and a tip, pick a gradient and a symbol, then add your own ambience and round sounds. iCloud carries it to your iPhone and Apple Watch.
  - Share a theme: export it as a file and send it to a friend. They open it and it goes straight into their app.
  - Redesigned widgets: Quick Start begins a sauna or plunge from the Home Screen and counts down live mid-round. This Week keeps your sessions and streak on the Lock Screen. Last Session
brings the same ritual back with one tap.
  - Saunum LEIL heater: connect it over Wi-Fi to see cabin temperature and heater status. Tap Find Heater on Network and the app finds it for you.

  IMPROVED

  - New achievement badges, drawn in the style of the app icon.
  - The 12-week streak now shows how many sessions each week held.
  - iPhone and Apple Watch stay in step more reliably. If the Watch stops responding during a session, the session screen tells you.
  - Built for iOS 27.

### 26.16 — 2026-08-22

COLD PLUNGE ON YOUR WATCH, WITH WATER LOCK ON

Improved

- Cold plunge on Apple Watch now starts with a setup screen. Turn the crown to pick how long you want to hold, tap start, and Water Lock comes on with the timer so a wet screen cannot tap things for you.
- The Watch runs the plunge clock itself, so your time stays right when your iPhone is in a locker, and the plunge still saves to your history afterwards.
- Cold plunges show up in history where they happened, each with its own water temperature, hold time and heart rate. Two new charts track how often you plunge and how cold the water has been.
- Share cards work for sessions that were only a cold plunge, with your coldest water or longest hold as the headline number.

Fixed

- Finished sessions reach history reliably, and never show up twice.

### 26.15 — 2026-08-08

HEART RATE, LIVE ON YOUR WRIST. A new Apple Watch chart follows your beats through every sauna round and cold plunge, with round stats and a look back at past sessions.

New
• Heart rate page on Apple Watch: a live chart of the session as it happens, your current stats at a glance, and recent sessions to compare against.

Improved
• The Watch session screen is cleaner and easier to read mid-round.
• Rounds and cold plunges now share one timeline on iPhone, so you can see the whole session in order instead of two separate lists.
• Charts mark your cold plunges alongside sauna heat, on iPhone and Watch, with smoother lines that are easier to read.
• Ending a session is quicker - a simple confirmation instead of extra taps.

### 26.14 — 2026-07-07

GUIDED RITUALS are here. Pick Finnish Classic or Evening Wind-Down and let the app carry you through every round - gentle chimes, haptics, and hydration cues, completely hands-free.

Every ritual you finish is tracked in your history with phase breakdowns, plus new achievements to celebrate your progress.

Also in this update:
• Redesigned session controls - quick presets and hold-to-repeat steppers for round and plunge times
• Start rituals from your Apple Watch or with Siri
• Polished share cards, temperature unit consistency, and accessibility improvements

### 26.13 — 2026-06-11

This update brings a cozy new WOOD-FIRED theme, lightning-fast ONBOARDING, a SMALLER APP with CRISPER AUDIO, your favourites at a glance, and a quick fix for SOCIAL SHARING.

NEW:

- WOOD-FIRED SAUNA EXPERIENCE: We’ve added a brand-new "Wood-Fired" ambient session theme to bring the crackling warmth of a traditional sauna right to your rituals.

IMPROVED

- LIGHTNING-FAST ONBOARDING: We’ve replaced our multi-step welcome screens with a single, beautifully designed outline, so you can get up and running (and relaxing) faster than ever.
- SMALLER APP, CRISPER AUDIO: We’ve remastered our ambient audio tracks for clearer, richer sound, while simultaneously cutting the app’s overall download size down by nearly 200 MB.
- YOUR FAVORITES AT A GLANCE: Your Session History now thoughtfully tracks and highlights your most frequently used session types, making it easier to stick to your preferred routines.

FIXED

- Resolved a hiccup that occasionally prevented social sharing sheets from appearing correctly after finishing a session.
