### 3/5 — Useful, but badly integrated

*2026-03-21, version 2.9.0*

Midi sync not working, Bluetooth keeps disconnecting. Sure app helps, but adds new headaches. And no scaler 3 for iOS after many years of waiting.

### 3/5 — The iPad m5 battery consumption

*2025-11-08, version 2.9.0*

For unknown reasons, the battery drains very quickly and even the device itself becomes hot.

### 2/5 — can’t see full GUI if running as AUV3

*2025-10-06, version 2.9.0*

in logic pro ipad difficult when re-sizing window

### 3/5 — Mi iPad se quema, usa muchísima batería

*2025-07-22, version 2.9.0*

### 2/5 — Fatal error.

*2025-05-29, version 2.9.0*

(2025-05-29) When pressing the "CHORD" button, the application crashes.

### 3/5 — Fix 48k

*2025-02-15, version 2.9.0*

Works great at 44.1k sampling rate, but sync fails at 48. FIX IT

### 4/5 — Must have!

*2025-02-12, version 2.9.0*

The only thing i could ask for is IAA audiobus support for fl mobile.

### 3/5 — Scaler Keyboard

*2024-12-02, version 2.9.0*

Still no update to allow access to Scaler keyboard in landscape mode, on Logic Pro for Ipad. Keyboard is only accessible when Ipad is in vertical mode. Really need this to be fixed please.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2024-11-09, version 2.9.0*

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

### 4/5 — Amazing

*2024-10-15, version 2.9.0*

It’s an amazing and very useful tool. It’s just too bad that the UI doesn’t resize properly when used as an AUv3.

### 5/5 — Awesome

*2024-09-20, version 2.9.0*

Gorgeous sound quality and finding melodies/compositions through Scaler is vastly interesting. I only know basic music theory and piano scales but a combination of understanding how harmonies work and what the goal is is enough to start concepting out an entire composition in Scaler.
Feels good, sounds good. Dig it

### 5/5 — No Metronom

*2024-09-14, version 2.9.0*

Why is there no Metronom ? Should be Standard.

### 2/5 — Glitches out everything when gui is open in AUM.

*2024-08-08, version 2.9.0*

Overall good program.. except causes AUM to hundred percent glitch out while GUI is open. Which renders it almost unusable for me.. if this can get fixed soon I'll change my review to a very good one.

### 4/5 — Yes, easily create quotes and melody and record midi

*2024-07-28, version 2.9.0*

I’m like this a lot and I’ve just installed it. Basically want to use my commuting time to create chords and to create a melody on top of that and then export that to my PC based studio one music station.. this will work perfectly because of the capture where you can create a cord progression and then improvise on top of that… love it
I might add the fifth star at some point, but at this point it took me quite a long time to find out that it could infect export middy in the export menu. There is no mention of midi at all which gave me the impression that it was not possible, and it took me hours to find out that it is..
Time you get four stars for wasting my time, but I will forgive you soon and give you the fifth…amended😎

### 4/5 — Perfect for beginners - needs performance optimizations

*2024-07-24, version 2.9.0*

Music theory is not my strong suit, so I’m glad I found Scaler 2. One of the best investments I’ve ever made. It allows me to quickly find a chord progression that fits my vision, but also helps me discover new ideas and even break those rules I’m supposed to follow in the right way. Nonetheless, the app needs optimizations when it comes to CPU usage. I haven’t tested the desktop version, so maybe it’s expected behavior. But it seems strange that my M4 iPad Pro gets so hot when using it, this chip is efficient enough to handle this app without any issues. Please developers, check the code, maybe there’s a bug in the latest version. I will give it 5 stars when that’s fixed.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Extremely laggy

*2026-05-06, version 2.9.0*

I was told they were going to update the app las year, and they never did.

### 1/5 — Beware of greedy developers

*2026-03-21, version 2.9.0*

Another disapointment. I Have paid for Scaler 2, but there is not an upgrade from my version, just a developer wich doesen’t give their costumers what they deserve: a free and fair actualization. For me (and I can guess For a los of us) is the same comptent that the likes of Patterning ofer us: just one big middle finger

### 1/5 — Unusable right now, insane battery drain!

*2026-03-13, version 2.9.0*

Actually I am a huge fan of Scaler, really!! BUT the battery drain the App causes when used as midi plugin (tried in Cubasis 3 and GarageBand) is insane! And I am on the M5 pro…. You really must fix this. I’m not going let the app destroy my iPad‘s battery!

### 1/5 — I must be missing something…

*2025-04-07, version 2.9.0*

Like I said, i must be missing something here. This app is confusing, and very difficult to use. The interface is very complicated and the timing is always off by about 1 beat when you try to record something. I tried to figure this app out, and of course I couldn’t get my money back because I waited so long. If you want to buy a completely useless app that will turn your iPad into a frying pan (CPU usage?) be my guest. At least you’ll learn about a thousand chords that you will never use in any musical endeavor…

### 1/5 — Hope the update fixed it, nope still can’t sync

*2024-06-05, version 2.9.0*

Can you test the app before u put it on App Store.
Or let us know it can’t sync to the beat every time.

### 1/5 — Needs work

*2024-02-25, version 2.8.1*

OK, so it works as advertised, but the interface and app flow are klunky and the content is really bloated. I would like two things to change, one is to make patterns and chords into separate purchases because there is just to much bloat. I really don’t like having to search through menu lists for patterns and styles, and even if I find a performance or pattern that I somewhat like it cannot be edited. The screen real estate is handled badly and too much diving through menus or changing pages to develop a smooth workflow. If you like the style of having the app do your creative work it’s great, but as a creator I don’t see it being very helpful to develop my own ideas. I will keep this in hopes that it will improve but for now it’s just too cluttered to be useful to me. Best to all who like it, and may it serve you well. PS don’t recommend training courses. I have around a hundred music apps on my iPad and none of them are as obtuse as Scaler.

### 1/5 — Issues

*2023-11-26, version 2.8.1*

In Logic Pro for iPad, when using MIDI plugin, the tempo is out of sync if the project's sample rate is not equal to 44.1.

Also, for some reason, this plugin consumes a lot of resources and heats up the device. This also applies to the MIDI plugin. Even powerful synthesizers don't heat up the device like that. iPad Pro 2020

### 1/5 — Nice preview

*2023-11-07, version 2.8.1*

But needs the full install to be of use. Would have been nice to include it in the Boxing Day sales. A bit pricey as it is compared to the full computer app.

### 1/5 — Can’t export

*2023-04-29, version 1.6*

Midi capture then export via email to the pc….it worked for a while but doesn’t work anymore this software buggy ? Every other app I use can export a wav file.this falls over…

### 1/5 — Not that good

*2023-04-08, version 1.6*

Ok it’s good for chords but the presets are so bad. Every single one tries so hard to add every chord extension/s. 7ths 9ths 11ths 13ths. It’s like can I just get some nice simple chords? And it doesn’t even have common chord progressions. I could fart better functional harmony. Has a bunch of no name artists that must be beginners who think they’re original by starting with a sus chord. Makes no sense and almost like they intentionally did that because they don’t want it giving you any good stuff. Honestly wish I hadn’t wasted even buying it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — お気に入りのアプリ

*2026-04-30, version 2.9.0*

### 5/5 — release scaler 3 for ipad!

*2026-01-15, version 2.9.0*

enough with the delays already!
get it done and release it.

### 5/5 — I start every song with it

*2026-01-10, version 2.9.0*

Scaler creates results. Whether on the iPad or my computer, I start every track with Scaler. The iPad version has consistently helped me start songs around my house while not being tied to my computer. Hoping for the amazing Scaler 3 to come to iPad soon.

### 5/5 — please bring scaler 3

*2025-11-16, version 2.9.0*

to ios, i can hardly wait 🥰

### 5/5 — amazing

*2025-06-23, version 2.9.0*

Changed my whole workflow.
I use it constantly via LOOPYPRO

I only hope there was a way to midi map the performance options

But that something will not be missed by most users of this app…. The options are just overwhelming!!!!!

### 5/5 — Inspiring!

*2025-04-19, version 2.9.0*

Hi! Thank you for this app, this is really inspiring, useful and exiting thing!
But for me it has one cons - absent of randomization options, I like some generative things and it’ll be great if you could add some options for randomizing or mutation patterns and sequences on fly, espescially for melody generator.
Thank you at all!

### 5/5 — Great!,

*2025-03-26, version 2.9.0*

Makes my music exploration fun! Thanks

### 5/5 — Great tool

*2025-02-15, version 2.9.0*

What a great and useful tool!
Thank you Scaler Team. I hope that V3 will build for iPad too.

### 5/5 — The Rosetta Stone

*2025-01-28, version 2.9.0*

I finally buckled down and spent 12 hours working through all functions of this app using the TSofS tutorials . The app has so many levels and so much to reveal about music theory and with a little work any budding composer will soon be producing several complete songs per day.

### 5/5 — Nice surprise

*2024-12-20, version 2.9.0*

🤯
