## What is Scan?

Scan turns a stack of paper into a searchable archive. On-device OCR. Full-text PDF search. Privacy-first — nothing leaves your phone unless you share it. Designed for the moment you need to find that one receipt from 2019.

Built around three ideas:

• Your iPhone is the archive. Documents stay on this device. iCloud sync is optional and uses your own iCloud — never our servers.
• You should find the page, not the file. Every word you scan is searchable from inside Scan and from the iPhone Spotlight pull-down.
• The papers that matter most are the personal ones. Tag people, build a family timeline, export a single .zip when you're done.

WHAT SCAN DOES

— High-quality scans. VisionKit's first-party document camera detects edges, fixes perspective, and accepts multi-page documents.
— On-device OCR in 13+ languages. The Apple Vision framework reads printed and machine text without sending anything to a server.
— Twelve smart categories. Contracts, bills, IDs, tax, medical, insurance, real estate, banking, letters, photos, education, other. One tap to re-categorize, and Scan remembers what you taught it.
— Per-document field extraction. Holder, dates, amounts, parties — surfaced where you can read them at a glance.
— iPhone Spotlight integration (Pro). Pull down your Home Screen, type, find any page across years of scans.
— Encrypted PDF export (Pro). AES password protection, with the OCR text layer included so the PDF stays searchable for the recipient.
— Expiration reminders + widget (Pro). Local notifications 30/60/90 days before a card or contract expires, plus a Home Screen widget for the next three.
— Family Archive (Pro+). Tag papers to people, browse a timeline, and export a single .zip — originals + searchable PDFs + a CSV index — ready for long-term storage.
— Optional Face ID lock. Protect the app at launch. Protect individual documents on Pro+.

WHAT SCAN DOES NOT DO

— No account. Scan does not require an email address or sign-in.
— No servers. There is no Scan backend. Documents stay on this iPhone or in your own iCloud.
— No tracking. No analytics SDK. No crash reporters that phone home.
— No watermarks on the free tier. Free users get 30 lifetime documents with the same scanner and OCR engine, just without Spotlight, encrypted PDFs, iCloud, reminders, or Family Archive.
— No countdown timers in the paywall. No paywall before you've scanned anything.

— Free: 30 documents, basic scanning, OCR, in-app search, twelve categories, PDF export without password.
— Pro: unlimited scans, system Spotlight, field extraction, encrypted PDF, iCloud sync, expiration reminders + widget.
— Pro+: everything in Pro plus Family Archive (people, timeline, .zip export), advanced filters, custom categories, per-document Face ID lock.

Pro starts at $3.99/month or $29.99/year with a 7-day free trial. Pro+ starts at $7.99/month or $59.99/year with a 14-day free trial. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date and can be managed in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
