### 2/5 — There is no such a thing as purchasing candy pro.

*2024-06-17*

A recurring yearly payment is not a purchase but a subscription. Gosh Apple got a love greed

### 2/5 — Not great

*2024-03-13*

It tells you to line the object your scanning with the red imaging of it to continue your scan, but how in the hell does one do that when you can only scan with the front facing camera!

### 2/5 — Bait and switch.

*2024-02-24*

The scan quality is excellent. It’s easy to use, easy to export to a variety of file formats. The front facing camera only option is awful but I understand that it is a hardware issue and this was the best option.

Where things get grubby is Payment structure.
One free export a week wouldn’t be such a kick in the teeth if it didn’t count a failed export as your as your one.

### 3/5 — Glitched

*2023-10-01*

It’s a start for a good app but it’s full of glitches and bugs that make it impossible to work with it keeps crashing as I’m finishing a scan and I have to restart the app

### 3/5 — One problem

*2023-05-30*

Not very easy to do by yourself

### 4/5 — Its good but could use some fixes

*2023-01-24, version 1.11.1*

The app itself is really useful but I wish there was a way to flip the camera so if someone can help you it is much easier to do scans and I wish there was a way to do a endless time limit for when you put the delay

### 1/5 — Horrendous

*2022-12-22, version 1.11.1*

Got the app for object scanning. But it only uses the front facing camera and it’s insanely difficult to see what your doing when you have to face the phone away from you to do so! Go for another option. Not even interested in front facing head scans even though it does seem like that would work nicely. Absolutely useless for everything else I need it to do though. They have to say it only uses the front facing camera up front.

### 1/5 — Annoying losing track

*2022-12-21, version 1.11.1*

Keep losing track and keep trying…errr, trash. What good does it do if it keeps telling me it is losing track and I have to start all over again? Search keyword TrueDepth 3D from the App Store and you will find a couple of good ones there.

### 1/5 — Worst scanner out there

*2022-10-16, version 1.10.6*

Don’t listen to any of the 5 star reviews they are bots (even if there is a dev response)
This app is horrible it makes subpar scans and you can only make 1 scan per week and to get past that you have to pay 150$ DOLLARS
There are much betters choices elsewhere but don’t, and I repeat DON’T waste your time, money, and/or energy here.

### 4/5 — Ok object scanner great face scanner

*2022-07-13, version 1.9.13*

I am looking to scan small-ish 5 cm objects. Even though this app seems made for larger objects sometimes I can get a good mesh. This size seems to be at the limit of what the front facing camera can detect so it often loses track of my object and starts doing the red flash. And I am getting weird results when I spin the object instead of move the phone. I’m probably not using the app for its typical purpose here. It is great at face scans! Thanks to the tutorial video on scanning a toy bear on a turntable I know it’s possible & will keep an eye on this app.

**Developer response:** Thank you for the feedback. When using a turntable, you will need to make sure that the camera does not see any stationary items in the frame, since that can throw off tracking. For instance, if your screen shows the scan subject, the turntable, and the surface that the turntable is resting on, the scan will likely not work since the camera will try and track on both the moving objects (turntable and scan subject) and the stationary object (the surface) at the same time.

### 1/5 — Piece of crap

*2022-06-08, version 1.9.13*

It opens off with a camera telling you to scan something, and when you scan it, they tell you to buy their dumb subscription if you want to save. You can’t do anything with it if you don’t pay, rendering the whole app useless. The scanner is garbage too, so there’s absolutely no point in downloading this app.

### 2/5 — Subscription doesn’t work

*2022-06-04*

I bought the subscription twice figuring it just didn’t go through the first time. I have 2 charges on my card now and it still won’t let me scan and when I try to restore my purchase the app crashes. Waste of time and money

### 1/5 — If I could give it zero I would

*2022-05-01, version 1.9.10*

First off, you have to waste a ONE PER WEEK free scan in order to look at what you got and IT DIDNT EVEN WORK. So now you have to wait a week to get the next weeks free scan?? Then they want you to pay $120 dollars a year for unlimited scans!? I guess it’s fake it so people pay for it?? Unbelievably sketchy. I guess once YouTubers did some free advertising for them it was time to rake the consumers over the coals. Junk app.
Junk company.

### 1/5 — No improvements over several years

*2022-04-02, version 1.9.10*

The quality of the scans have always been trashy. I’ve been keeping this app on my iPhone from the model X through 13 pro, hoping for the miracle to come one day. But there have been no improvements to the scans output.
I do however use the app when I want to entertain someone - by scanning a face/object and then demonstrating the result. The deformed things that come out of the app will make any depression disappear.
That by itself can unlikely justify the $120 subscription price

### 2/5 — Don’t bother!

*2022-02-10*

Not worth the money, I’ve tried my best with this app but compared to the others scandy is painstaking.. Constantly loses tracking & just doesn’t really work..

### 2/5 — Very frequent red flashes & vibrating…

*2022-01-17*

It seems like it would capture a great scan, if it wasn’t for the fact that it keeps flashing red and vibrating during scanning (which apparently means it’s lost tracking)… I’m using a 13 Pro. As long as I hold everything completely still, it doesn’t moan. But since I’m supposed to be scanning a 3D object and I’m order to do that I have to move either the object or the phone, the second any of them move (no matter how slowly! In fact if I went any slow, I’d basically be stopped!) it seems to crap out and starts flashing red, losing tracking & produces a terrible scan. What am I missing?

### 4/5 — Pretty good

*2021-11-28*

I haven’t used it yet in a 3d print but I wish there was a pay per scan option.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No longer works, no support

*2024-05-10*

Used to work great, but no longer, and no response from support, not even the courtesy of an auto response saying they don’t provide support anymore, just silence.

### 1/5 — So much potential missed

*2024-04-20*

I made a 3printed attachment with a front mirrored mirror but it still way to fiddly, software doesn’t really track well, I have 20 years scanning experience and this just isn’t quite making it, would be so much better if you could pair it with your Mac or iPad and use their screen to control your scanning, photogrammetry is so much easier than this.

### 1/5 — Not worth it!

*2024-03-26*

The iPhone has had lidar scanners in the camera system for years, but this app requires using the user facing camera, with no option to change it.

Also, paying for this every year is weak when you can guy a hardware scanner, not have these same limitations, and not have a recurring bill. If you could buy this outright and it had support for the cameras on the back of the iPhone Pro line, it might be worth it, but until then there are better option.

### 1/5 — Front Facing Camera Only

*2024-02-25*

The app only allows scanning with the front camera. That might be the worst design decision in a scanning app ever.

### 1/5 — Can only scan with front facing camera

*2024-01-26*

A real shame unless you are only scanning your own face. Tried multiple times to scan an object in front of me but literally waaaay too fiddly.

### 1/5 — They’ve removed import functionality

*2023-05-26*

This app was probably the best of its kind up until they decided to remove the import feature.
I bought a lifetime subscription only to discover the latest update removed the ability to import files, this is very important for my work and the main reason I paid for the lifetime subscription.

After contacting the support team, they informed me they couldn’t help, they have no idea if they’ll restore the import functionality and I couldn’t get a refund, I would love to rate them 5 star but I’d be lying to myself.
Pretty disappointing experience

### 1/5 — Scand only me

*2023-05-15*

It should be called “Scandyme” as its only good to scan yourself with the front cam. Kudos to the genius who thought front cam scanning will be a thing.

### 1/5 — Deleted

*2023-03-17*

Deleted after 1 minute. No obvious way to switch to rear camera which is where the best sensor is on 14 Pro Max. Why would any scan app use front camera where you can’t tell what you’re scanning unless it’s your face?

### 1/5 — Nerfed m

*2023-02-13, version 2.0.3*

Extremely hard to get a decent scan with.
Poor object tracking.
Poor texture quality.
Buggy (Crashes easily/ frequently )
Nerfed feature set (Disabled file import in last update).

The developers have potential here for sure but the app has recently gone in a negative direction. Each of the recent updates had introduced new bugs and reduced/ nerfed functionality.

I appreciate that the developer is making an effort but this app has gotten significantly worse for their recent efforts.

I hope to see a more positive direction for this app in the future but as it currently stands I do not recommend this app. I’m sorry , I hate to be so harsh but it’s the truth.

Good luck and I hope your able to pull through this and get things together.

### 1/5 — Simply dosen’t work.

*2023-02-11*

Probably the worst app that I’ve ever use.
Just not working at all.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2023-01-09, version 1.11.1*

I love the app! I’m doing full body scans – is there any chance that we could have a new feature to customize the time on the self timer option, or have additional 15 second increments all the way up to two minutes? My turntable isn’t fast enough to do a full circle in 60 seconds which is the max limit in the app right now. But truly an amazing app anyways!

### 5/5 — The Best

*2022-10-03, version 1.10.4*

I researched nine 3D scanner apps in depth, selected three to test. Among the three, for the same amount of effort, and no prior experience, I got unusable results from the other two and near perfection from ScandyPro. I tried each app three times in a row, adjusting as I learned how to use each one. Only ScandyPro gave me a result I can use.

### 5/5 — Super cool!

*2022-06-11, version 1.9.13*

I got this because I saw it in a video, and it’s been a lot of fun just scanning random things, my best one so far being of a soda can.

### 5/5 — Best Scanner app!

*2021-06-30*

I’ve been using this for a year & it is the best app by far.
Using a mirror to scan is a game changer (Scandy lookout).
Ignore the bad reviews! I work in the prop making industry & having the ability to scan & print models has improved my productivity 100%

### 5/5 — Astonishing

*2021-03-16, version 1.9.8*

This is probably one of the most incredible
pocket-sized apps I’ve ever come across. Wow, my hat’s off to the devil opera. Well done, this is a truly astonishing piece of work!

### 5/5 — Free weekly scan!

*2020-12-01, version 1.9.0*

Looks like they updated the app and added a weekly free scan option! This is much appreciated.

### 5/5 — Great app, but what’s with the rumbling?

*2020-11-17, version 1.8.0*

Seems to be a great scanning app. But I gotta ask, what’s the rumbling/grinding noise it makes when you start a scan? Is this some sort of effect added with the vibration motor? It’s not like anything is actually moving but it reminds me of a spinning Velodyne lidar with bad bearings lol

### 5/5 — Amazing.

*2020-10-12, version 1.8.0*

This is incredible. I’ve been waiting for something accessible like this for a long time. Watch the tutorials, they will drastically increase the quality of your scans.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2020-10-06, version 1.7.6*

I am a 3D modeler and Scandy seems to prove very useful for my work. While Photogrammetry is great and yields amazing textures it can be really frustrating when you take all your pictures and the model doesn’t work out, Scandy is fast and simple which is perfect for quick models. Now if only apple would get decent cameras ( come on Apple, get with the program!!) for use with textures, but that’s a huge mishap on apples part, not Scandy.

### 5/5 — Love the app

*2020-07-19, version 1.7.5*

Recently having an issue running iOS 12.0 iPhone Xs Max. The app opens doesn’t crash on me , just doesn’t show anything but black and slight white on screen. Cannot scan. All other functions are visible and operate. Just no camera view available
