Quirky audio support. Buggy. *2023-08-22, version 2.5.5* Does what it promises, but is very bare-bones. A bit of a one-trick pony. Given how long the app has been around and how limited it is, one gets the impression that it’s changed very little since its inception. NEED TO FIX: - At first there appeared to be no Bluetooth support for earbuds or headphones, but this was resolved after closing and reopening the app. - The default is the quiet phone speaker, not the loudspeaker, as if the developers expect you to hold the phone up to your ear the whole time! - There is a bug that occurs sometimes when re-recording lines, that just takes you back to the previous screen when you hit record. - No way to run through a production if the first scene is empty - Editing the last line in a scene, the options are hidden until you scroll down. They should be visible immediately after clicking the three dots. NICE TO HAVE: - Color coding for the characters - Collaboration - Actual written notes, markers, etc - Audio effects ### 4/5 — Awesome app *2022-05-04, version 2.0.3* I would give this 5 stars but I can’t seem to pick up lines midway in a scene if I don’t want to start from the beginning. The lines aren’t numbered or anything. Please develop a way for us to record scenes on one device and then share it with the other actors who also have Scene Study on their devices. Unfortunately the one feature for running separate selected scenes does not work any more. If I did then it would only repeat the scene I was in instead of continuing the production. Some features I wanted actually ended up being there already but weren’t super intuitive to me at first, but if you use it a bit you’ll figure it out just fine. I love Scene Study and have been using it for years!! It has been soooooo helpful with my acting career!! I would suggest this app to everyone!! Keep the updates coming!!! ### 5/5 — Intuitive and helpful *2023-06-30, version 2.0.3* I usually just use the Voice Memo app to record my scenes, but this app is SO MUCH BETTER than that. It’s super intuitive and easy to use (recording lines for each character is so easy - the setup of the recording screen is really user-friendly). It’s truly as effortless as using voice memos, BUT then all the characters are separated for you and you can rehearse with or without your own lines, and straight through all the scenes, which is SO helpful. I also appreciate the price - this app is worth every penny of the $4 I paid and then some. 10/10 will recommend this app to all my castmates. ### 5/5 — Please update!!! *2023-06-21* I so love this app, but it needs to be updated to be compatible with the newer phones. Everyone is different in how they best study their lines, but I need someone to read with, to give me my cues. This app does all that and more. Just input the lines and the app reads them to you. You can speak along with the dialogue . Enter the character’s names and there’s the option of silencing just the one character (you) so you can say your lines when prompted. Great for at home or in the car. ### 5/5 — Great tool for me *2022-08-04, version 2.0.3* I continue to come back to this app time and time again with new roles. I try others but they can’t get the job done for me. This is great. It helps me a whole lot. Suggestions (I’ll still use the app, but these would improve my work even more): 1. Exporting/importing or sharing scenes. How amazing if cast members recorded their parts and everyone shares with each other, deleting what’s not needed! 2. Sometimes playback goes off the wire over Bluetooth. My car registers each line as a call, so it’s unusable as the “calls” start and stop. So I turn off Bluetooth, it’s just not as hands-free then. This app has saved my booty for Something Rotten, White Christmas, Shrek, and Once at our community theatre.
