### 2/5 — DOE Mess

*2023-11-29, version 4.5.8*

Doesn’t work half the time, and is clunky when it does work. Not to mention the food is often not what’s actually being served.

### 2/5 — Worked at the beginning

*2023-10-09, version 4.5.8*

Now it doesn’t even open.

### 2/5 — Very glitchy

*2023-10-04, version 4.5.8*

For last week and a half a blank page displays for everything except breakfast. Wound up having to go to website instead.

### 1/5 — Never works!!!

*2022-09-12, version 4.4.5*

9/10 times it shows “No network connection”. So you can never see the menus. They really need to fix that bug. I want to know what to send for lunch for my kids and it depends on what the school is serving for hot lunch so it app would really help me, but it’s useless.

### 1/5 — Not fully visible

*2021-09-25, version 4.4.5*

I like the idea of the app but the whole end of the calendar is cut off so you cannot read it. Even if you try to zoom out or turn your phone sideways. Really hope that they fix it soon then app would be much more useful.

### 1/5 — Students would do a better job designing this app

*2021-09-09, version 4.4.5*

Like others have said, the concept here is great (especially since the DOE no longer posts printer friendly menus on their website), but the actual app is AWFUL!!! I can’t even see the menus and currently it will not acknowledge my child because when I try to enter his birthday it only gives me one option: today’s date. Seriously they should give this app over to some kids as a coding project and it would be 1000 times better.

### 1/5 — Language options don’t actually work when you view the food menu

*2021-05-27, version 4.4.5*

When you open the app, it’s offered in 10 languages which looks so promising. Especially in NYC where there are many families where English may not be the primary language spoken at home. However once you select the language and then navigate in your preferred language, it just takes you to same exact English menu!!! What a fail for accessibility. It’s like they sorta tried to make it accessible to non-English speakers and then didn’t actually bother making it useful!!

### 1/5 — This was a good app

*2021-01-19, version 4.4.4*

Now all it say when you try to open it is.... please check your internet service. No internet. Everything else in my house is working fine. It’s been doing this for 3 days.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2021-01-19, version 4.4.4*

Was working, but something broke in this app in the last week.

### 1/5 — Barcode?

*2019-11-20, version 4.0*

Was told by school officials that the app had a barcode function to scan to get lunch instead of using ID. It did not have barcode.

### 1/5 — Use PDFs instead of photos please

*2019-09-17, version 4.0*

The image of the menu looks like a photo because when you zoom in it loses resolution. Please put a full resolution PDF so I can zoom in and read the small print.

### 1/5 — wow

*2019-01-31, version 4.0*

I was a bit interested in this app, but once I downloaded the app, it wouldn’t let me through. It stated “Select language” but for no languages appeared in the section. I had internet, but many notices stated “No Network”. Whoever made this must have really did a poor job.

### 1/5 — Hard to read

*2018-10-10, version 4.0*

I appreciate the effort. But it is hard to read the menus. They need to be a higher resolution!

### 2/5 — Needs a lot of work!

*2018-09-25, version 4.0*

I noticed that the issue about the small print reported a year ago was not fixed. Also, I was able to add only one student (I have two children attending a PS). I suggest the menus are not uploaded as an image but entered into the system to prevent the text from being too small and difficult to read.

### 1/5 — Low Quality

*2018-09-17, version 4.0*

It’s understandable that NYC wants kids and their families to know what they are served on a daily basis whether you are a 7th grader or a 10th grader. Whatever the case may be, the menus are low quality. They are small and you can barely read them. Some might think it’s autofocus and will focus itself. It will not. The menus are pictures provided from their websites and the websites pictures are way better.

### 1/5 — OMG, Fix the Graphics Already

*2018-09-10, version 4.0*

It’s been like this for over a year. Can you maybe call out for some volunteers from the PTA or something to fix this?

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App is garbage

*2026-04-14, version 4.5.8*

This apps whole premise is it provides you with an image of the monthly menu for the entirety of the school district. Thanks - I know how to use a web browser. I can’t believe the school district use tax dollars for pay for this garbage.

### 1/5 — Please fix app

*2023-10-05, version 4.5.8*

You cannot see the menu when you click on lunch menu it is blank since please update this app.

### 1/5 — Great idea, terrible app

*2023-01-29, version 4.5.8*

Super buggy. Impossible to access menus sometimes. Doesn’t recognize student IDs or birthdates.

Just one example of how little care has gone into this app is that January is spelled wrong in the rolling menu to enter your kid’s birthday. On the app it’s spelled JanGuary.

Hopefully the city didn't dole out a big contract to this developer. It’s a truly terribly implemented app.

### 1/5 — No Menus

*2023-01-11, version 4.5.8*

Haven’t been able to view any menus for weeks.

### 1/5 — Please fix app

*2023-01-04*

You cannot see the menu when you click on lunch menu it is blank since last year please update this app.

### 1/5 — Stopped working

*2022-12-14, version 4.5.8*

Won’t open to see “menu type”. This app needs a lot of work.

### 1/5 — Terrible app, stopped working in Nov ‘22

*2022-12-12, version 4.5.8*

Just an awful interface. Hard to print. And stopped working entirely a couple weeks ago. Won’t show any menus at all.

### 1/5 — Just stopped working

*2022-12-12, version 4.5.8*

The app just stopped loading menus with no easy way to reach out for help

### 1/5 — Not accurate

*2022-12-06, version 4.5.8*

There were several days that the food at the school was not the same as the menu.

### 1/5 — Tried 3 times

*2022-12-02, version 4.5.8*

The app unfortunately is not showing the menus!😟. Been trying since yesterday.

### 5/5 — Simple & Straight-to-it!

### 5/5 — Feed your mind

*2016-05-19, version 2.0*

### 5/5 — AWESOME & USEFUL APP!!!

*2015-06-16, version 1.1*

In simple words AWESOME APP!! Excellent concept, design and UI. Easy to understand and grab everything, very fast with full of features. Really appreciated this app and would like give all credits to concept, design and development team. It eased my life of searching food and other things around.
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED FOR EVERYONE!!!

### 5/5 — Amazing App

*2015-06-15, version 1.1*

In short its amazing what we want its already there, Gr8 job

### 4/5 — Menu items ingredients would be nice

*2020-10-17*

Or, a link to the DOE menu ingredients page.

### 4/5 — Convenient

*2017-07-05, version 3.0231*

I can check the menu and find a location easily.

### 3/5 — See into the future?

*2019-09-30, version 4.0*

I haven’t found a way to look at the next month’s menu ahead of time. It would be nice if we could see at least the first week of the next month to plan ahead.
I also agree that the print is difficult to read.
I also have two children in different schools and cannot log in as both.
It is very helpful to find summer meals and also to quickly see what the kids might have for lunch (as long as it isn’t the first of the month.)

### 3/5 — Great idea, little less great execution

*2018-09-05, version 4.0*

Loved the idea of being able to check the menu at home and talking about what options to choose to avoid certain things.

The menu is not readable on a regular iPhone, only on iPad or computer. From other reviews this looks like an old issue that has not yet been fixed.

It would be amazing if the app + menu would clearly state which category cuisine a dish falls under. Like it’s often seen at good restaurants using little indicators next to dishes to distinguish them: vegan (Vg) / vegetarian (V) / kosher (K) / nuts (nut) / meat (meat) / dairy (dairy) etc. This would make it so much more manageable for many people.

### 3/5 — im new to this

*2018-07-14, version 4.0*

no food services served during 8:38 am so im making food myself
