## What is Schumann Sferics Generator?

The Earth has a sound. Between the ground and the ionosphere a vast cavity resonates, driven by around 50 lightning strikes per second worldwide: the Schumann resonances at 7.83 Hz and their overtones. Add the distant crackle of sferics, the ping of tweeks and, at night, the falling whistle of whistlers.

Schumann Sferics generates this sound live – in the rhythm of your location. The sun's position, day and night and the season shape how often events occur and how they sound. Livelier by day, calmer and wider at night.

A SKY THAT LISTENS
Every event becomes visible the moment you hear it:
• whistlers streak across the sky as shooting stars
• tweeks make stars glint
• distant lightning glows softly behind the horizon
• sun and moon stand where they really are – with the real moon phase

FOR FALLING ASLEEP
• sleep timer with a gentle fade-out
• night mode that softens the higher frequencies
• keeps playing with the screen locked
• a dark, calm screen without distractions

PRO
• Live space weather: Kp index from NOAA, aurora above your horizon during geomagnetic storms, a restless sun
• Living Schumann drift: the modes wander with the day, the year and the sun
• all night in the background
• mix with other apps

Pro is available as a monthly or yearly subscription (7-day free trial) or as a one-time purchase.

HONEST
Sound and sky are generated, not measured. What is real is the rhythm of your location, the moon phase, the space weather and the physics of the events. Your location never leaves your device.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.1 — 2026-10-01

New in Version 1.1

World Thunderstorm Clock & Heat Lightning
Sferics now follow the real daily rhythm of thunderstorms on Earth. The three big storm centers in Asia, Africa and the Americas become active in their local afternoon. Each strike comes from a direction that fits your location. The sky glows above each active center, and the strongest discharges flash as soft heat lightning. The Schumann resonance also grows stronger and weaker over the day with global storm activity.

Solar Flares (Pro)
The app now reads live X-ray data from NOAA's GOES satellites. During a solar flare, the Schumann modes rise slightly and then glide back, just like in the real ionosphere. The current flare class is shown on the Sun card and in Settings.

Dawn Chorus (Pro)
Rising VLF chirps from the magnetosphere. In Live mode you only hear them when conditions at your location are right: geomagnetic activity, morning hours and latitude. Threads of light rise across the sky as they play.

Science
New explanations of heat lightning and the storm clock, solar flares and Dawn Chorus.

Improvements & Fixes

Controls now hide completely during playback. The first tap only brings them back.
The paywall no longer shows an endless spinner when the App Store returns no products. You now get a "Try again" button.
Plan selection in the paywall is more reliable.
