### 4/5 — Needs Ecology Words

*2025-09-21*

Honestly a great dictionary, but I teach Marine Biology and I would love for my students to have access to a full biology/ecology dictionary as well. But I still give 4 stars.

### 4/5 — Folders please!

*2022-03-25*

Give me the ability to categorize and label infinite folders for different individual entries. Please. And thanks.

### 4/5 — I

*2020-07-08*

The only thing I don’t like about this app is that it doesn’t have as many definitions as I’d like, but it’s still a fine app.

### 5/5 — catz

### 3/5 — Love it! But here’s a suggestion...

*2018-08-09, version 1.7*

Hi there,

I think it would be nice to have a homepage like the original free dictionary. With science related games and a scientific word of the day? Or quotes from scientific figures? Maybe an ability to customise our homepages and profiles. (I know that’s pushing it)
It is just a suggestion but I personally think the app will be more enjoyable.

Sincerely,
S. G Horn

### 4/5 — Good App!

### 1/5 — Not a science app

*2021-08-09, version 3.2*

Just look up Homeopathy, and you’ll see what I mean.

More a misleading dictionary. I’m not saying everything in it is wrong, but it’s by no means ‘science’ if it defines even the low hanging fruit of fringe nonsense/scam pseudosciences in a way which their proponents of said pseudosciences would. Not one caveat in the description of homeopathy, and certainly not an accurate description.

### 1/5 — Bad

*2020-02-19, version 2.0*

I have science homework and it’s it vkxkdfcusufcuvuviv

### 1/5 — Why do you have to have a login

*2020-02-08, version 2.0*

I don’t like that you have to have a login please take that off so I can just do some science and stuff

### 1/5 — Worthless

*2019-08-30*

If you are in higher level science classes such as genetics, half of the terms will not be found. Save your time. Use google

**Developer response:** We're sorry to hear that. As we are always looking to add new sources, it is possible that our database of science terms will be expanded in the future.

### 1/5 — This is terrible

*2019-08-24, version 1.7*

It doesn’t have half the definitions for anything I try to look up.

### 1/5 — Not good

*2016-09-30, version 1.5*

It's not opening since I've installed the updated version

### 3/5 — Why can’t I add this app to my home screen in focus mode?

*2023-08-09, version 3.5*

I’m a graduate student and would find it really helpful if I could check definitions while reading journal articles without being distracted by other apps. Unfortunately, this app doesn’t appear in the “allowed apps” settings on focus mode.

Would absolutely rate it higher if this could be fixed

### 3/5 — Ok, but needs work…

*2023-02-05*

I recently downloaded this app and purchased its ad-free version.

The level of definition varies greatly in depth from term to term. Some definitions dive deeply, and prove very educationally informative. Others just scratch the surface, offering little more than the person looking up the word would already know.

Upon first purchasing this app, I ran a little test to see how it would do. After requesting terms of increasing scientific speciality— but not words so esoteric that they would be used by only a select few — I reached the bottom… no definition available for the requested term.

I’d say that the app is somewhat useful, and shows great potential, but as a comprehensive stand-alone scientific dictionary, it’s not there, yet.

I would hope the developers keep working on the app, moving it toward a more fulfilling realization of the promise it sometimes shows.

### 3/5 — It’s okay

*2020-04-14*

But at sometimes the words don’t have they best definition just saying

### 3/5 — Very useful app.

*2019-03-05, version 1.7*

It is alright. Good so far.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Super useful

*2025-03-22*

I think this is a super lovely app that explains everything very well for what it is. my only suggestion would be to make it where the other terms in the explanation that are complex enough to be in the definition are clickable and transfer you to them, simply so it takes less time, but i think it’s a wonderful and incredibly useful app.

### 5/5 — Perfect for High School Science

*2024-07-07*

I purchased this app to assist my high schooler with learning differences. She has terrible working memory and asking her to go back and find a forgotten term in the book can completely derail her ability to stay on task during more challenging assignments. This is the perfect solution. She is able to quickly look up a term and move on with the work at hand. Obviously if the issue is understanding instead of memory, she still has to crack open the text to get a full explanation of a term, but this is perfect for jogging her memory.
