### 2/5 — I like it but Search is annoying

*2026-07-05, version 6.4*

I’m really into Physics and I love the “Recent” section but the magazines I don’t like so I tried search but you have to pay to search!? That’s just a rip-off But it’s good otherwise

I’m really into Physics and I love the “Recent” section but the magazines I don’t like so I tried search but you have to pay to search!? That’s just a rip-off But it’s good otherwise

### 3/5 — No dark mode

*2026-05-15, version 6.4*

Dark mode is so standard that I’m really surprised isn’t an option for a paid subscription

### 2/5 — No sync, no dark mode

*2025-06-21, version 6.4*

Slick app, easy to use. But no option for dark mode hurts nighttime reading in low light conditions, and reading progress isn’t synced between devices. Both are pretty basic features in 2025.

### 2/5 — Past issues

*2025-06-21, version 6.4*

Poor. If I pay for a print edition, I should be able to access recent articles

### 4/5 — Good UeX

*2025-04-06*

A greatly built app. An ability to search content as per topic tags would have been amazing.

### 2/5 — Another left leaning rag

*2025-03-10, version 6.4*

Just stick to science and keep your political ideology out of it.

### 5/5 — Really good

*2025-02-17, version 6.4*

It’s just a really good app. And of course, the content is predictably brilliant.

### 4/5 — Tracked

*2025-02-13, version 6.4*

I wish the app tracked which magazines I’ve read and which I haven’t.

### 2/5 — Not user friendly and tedious

*2025-01-23, version 6.4*

Why don’t hyperlinks in an article open within the app to show the articles? When you click on hyperlinks it takes you to another website where you are asked to login and provide password etc. a very tedious process! Fix your app for a seamless reading experience!!!!

### 5/5 — Best alternative to doomscrolling

*2025-01-17*

Very good informative articles, even a lot for free! They are not too long and also easy to understand with good second language English. Very nice to read on the way or on short brakes instead of wasting time on Instagram.

### 5/5 — Honestly worth the price

*2024-12-26*

Has a ton of beautifully curated articles and magazines that are ultimately bound to grab your whole attention. Would definitely recommend!!

### 5/5 — '

*2024-12-24, version 6.3*

Great Magazine to understand science

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No Title

*2026-05-09, version 6.4*

I’d like to continue reading the article first, thank you and please.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2026-01-22, version 6.4*

Broken by new iPad update

### 1/5 — Writing Quality is going down

*2025-10-24, version 6.4*

Articles don’t flow analogies don’t actually demonstrate a grasp of the underlying topic. Clickbait feeling and sometimes obviously politically leaning or inflammatory.

### 1/5 — Stop politicizing science

*2025-05-15, version 6.4*

There's more hate Trump articles than CNN and MSNBC COMBINED. It makes for an easy boring all to often need of a swipe of the finger or the delete of an app. I downloaded this app to learn actual fact

### 1/5 — Where’s the science?

*2025-04-09, version 6.4*

full of tangentially-related political filler that barely counts as scientific content. good luck finding any updates about actual technological advancements among the “doctors say ice cream is bad for you!” and “heres how trump was mean to a tech company this week!” articles.

### 1/5 — Unable to restore

*2025-04-02, version 6.4*

At best the app will forget you’ve paid for the subscription. I’ve always had to go through a few hoops to get it back over the years. Now they refuse to fix the latest bug. Impossible to restore as the email/password screen goes black every time so the program is unusable on iPad. I’ve cancelled due to their ineptitude.

### 1/5 — Won’t respond to technical glitch

*2025-02-06, version 6.4*

Often get dropped from subscriptions and they take forever getting me reinstated. Their login screens simply don’t work specifically on iPads.

### 1/5 — Not good

*2024-12-19, version 6.3*

App suffers from 2009 level performance issues. Words go off the page and scrolling is stilted. There’s no excuse for this.

### 1/5 — Review

*2024-11-20, version 6.3*

Your editor is a disgrace to the journalism and science. The SCI AMER is not the one I grew up with. Shut this journal down.

### 1/5 — My online digital subscription has never worked.

*2024-11-04, version 6.3*

My online digital subscription has never worked. I received the magazine, but I’ve never been able to login.

### 5/5 — Real Science

*2026-03-25, version 6.4*

Just love this publication! Came back to it after twenty five years and am not disappointed. The app is easy to use and easy to navigate through issues and articles. Those who call SciAM liberal simply don’t understand real science. Very enjoyable!
