That’s not right in my opinion including the fact that it’s not explicitly shown that that’s the case before buying. Disappointed honestly.. You pay a lot for the audio but then they still want to charge more and more money from you just to use it normally like loop over a chapter… sad, very disappointing.. ### 5/5 — Awesome App! *2026-05-31, version 5.9.6* I’ve been using the Scourby Bible app for several years now, on both iPhone and Macbook. It’s been pretty much perfect, except after the latest MacOS update, sometime before 31 May 2026, the audio on the Macbook version will now occasionally stop and I’ll have to restart the app. I am glad the app still works, but hopefully this isn’t a sign that it will stop working anytime soon. Thanks to the devs for making this, probably the most necessary of apps! ### 3/5 — Odd sounds *2026-05-28, version 5.9.6* I have always loved Mr. Scourby reading the JJV, but I am not sure what is up with the faint voices talking in the background that I heard in Luke chapter 12. However, my purchase was to be a one time purchase and and every feature worked for a year or two but then the only feature that would work was the reader and all the extras are ridiculously high. I am thankful the reader still works. ### 5/5 — This audio version gives me nostalgia *2026-04-27, version 5.9.6* This audio version gives me nostalgia when I was a little boy. My mom listened to this in the background while I was very little so when I listen to it, it gives me memories of my early childhood my mother, and he is also an excellent reader. ### 1/5 — App does not work well with Bluetooth *2026-04-16, version 5.9.6* The app plays for a few verses and then starts skipping the first few words of each verse…the audio is gone for a few words when playing through Bluetooth. If you click the arrows to go back to the previous verse, then the audit works and then starts failing again after 4 or 5 verses and you can’t hear the first few words. For this reason, the app is unusable. Fix this or refund my money. ### 5/5 — Spiritual Investment *2026-03-26, version 5.9.6* After deleting it the other day because of the added feature purchases that turned me off. I kid you not and swear to you that my soul literally found it unacceptable to delete such a Goldmine after 7yrs of listening to this gem. So I redownload the app and decided to purchase the FULL package deal that’s $31.99/yr, which is less than $3 a month. Trust me when I tell you that’s it’s worth every dime that your spirit will reward you 10fold. Besides, we ALL spend way more trash on nonsense everyday anyway. Think of it as a spiritual investment that’ll pay you an interest rate 100% for life. Imagine my shock when in December 2025 when I purchased a new the phone, my last backup is August 2024. I have sent three emails to three different email addresses and no one has responded. Yet faithfully the in app fees are charged to my account. Disingenuous at best given that they changed their business model and started charging users who would have purchased the app for years for features that they originally had when they purchased the app. This is not paid app. ### 1/5 — Can’t be trusted *2025-12-14, version 5.9.6* I purchased the app with everything advertised and included for 20$. So they take all the extras that I already paid for away and say I have to pay so much yearly to keep them. Who’s to say if I was to pay that that next month they take it away again and say, now you have to pay monthly and try to charge me again. It’s hard to believe you can get ripped off on a Bible so but trust me these people are untrustworthy. ### 3/5 — Subscriptions required for anything optional *2025-12-05, version 5.9.6* I have an older Alexander Scourby KJV Bible reader that has everything this one has and more. (It's called PalReader Bible KJV Book and Audio) Unfortunately it's not being updated. This app has variable reading speed but you must pay for it every year. The same things goes for the timer. The old app has a feature to read a certain number of chapters and stop. This one doesn't have that. I'm sure that would be another paid subscription each year.
