## What is Scoville Ladder?

Most people stop getting better at spicy food the day they find a sauce they like. Scoville Ladder is a training program that gets you past it.

HOW IT WORKS

Name the hottest thing you already eat comfortably. Pick something you actually want to be able to do — order Thai food “Thai spicy” and mean it, finish a basket of wings at hot, eat the habanero salsa at the taqueria. Say how often you can realistically train. You get a date.

From then on the app gives you one thing to eat at a time. After each session you report the peak burn from 0 to 10, and that number moves your next target. Rate it low and the program pushes harder; rate it high and it holds you where you are. Your date is recalculated from your own rate of adaptation, so it stops being an average and becomes yours.

TWELVE RUNGS

Bell pepper to Pepper X, spaced logarithmically because that is how capsaicin is actually perceived. Every rung is something you can do at a table rather than a number on a chart, and crossing one is worth stopping for.

WHILE IT BURNS

A timer shows where you are in the burn — when the peak lands and when the fade starts — and what genuinely helps. Milk, yoghurt, sugar, bread. Not water: capsaicin is an oil, and water spreads it.

REST IS PART OF IT

Higher rungs need longer to recover, so the app holds you back and offers a light maintenance dose instead of nothing. Your streak counts sessions, not calendar days.

FREE, AND STAYS FREE

A library of more than fifty peppers and hot sauces with their real Scoville figures, where they come from, and the science behind why any of this works. Those numbers are public knowledge and they are yours to keep.

Everything stays on your device. No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no ads.
