## What is Scrannr?

Scrannr is a food scanner app that helps you see what's really in the food you buy. Scan any product barcode and Scrannr shows you a clear health score, breaks down the ingredients, flags harmful additives, and explains what's in the nutrition label. Healthier alternatives are suggested when a product doesn't score well, so you can make better choices in the moment, right there in the supermarket aisle.
What Scrannr does:

Nutrition label analysis per 100g and per serving
Allergen alerts

All product data comes from Open Food Facts, a free public food database. Scrannr is an information tool - it's not medical or nutritional advice, and it's not a substitute for reading the product label.

Clearer answers when you scan
We rewrote the notes behind additives, processing levels, packaging
materials and cooking oils, checking each against the source research
and current UK guidance. Wholewheat and pork now get their own
allergen chips instead of a generic warning symbol.

Setup shows you the app first
First-time setup walks you through what Scrannr does before you pay,
including how four everyday supermarket products score.

Fewer privacy prompts
You see only the consent prompts that apply in your region.

Fixes
Subscribers no longer get sent back through setup after reopening the
app. The subscribe button stays usable on a weak connection. Reduce
Motion applies across setup, and VoiceOver reads the new screens.

A longer onboarding that builds your plan from your goal, diet, ingredient preferences and nutrition targets.
Haptic feedback on every choice and button.
Fixed the plan-building screen for anyone using Reduce Motion. It used to hold you for three seconds with the back button hidden.

Pro is now £24.99 a year or £7.99 a month.
The free tier is gone, and the Pro upgrade card has left the home screen with it.

Privacy Policy and Terms links now open on every device. On some phones they did nothing.
Your score shows on a cold open instead of flashing a loading skeleton first.
Restore Purchases and the subscribe button recover when the store fails to answer.
Scan and search counts stay on your phone. Neither reaches our servers.

New benzene flag on products carrying both a benzoate preservative and vitamin C.

All Scrannr uses now have 5 free search scans. Scans are no longer taken from the full analyses, this is only used when scanning a barcode product now.

Our custom SVG icons are now used throughout the app.

Bugfix on camera permissions, now users can select to open with camera after disabled to take them to the iOS settings page to enable the camera.
Pro users were able to open the paywall upon load of the app. This has now been patched

We have introduced an onboarding screen for new users to Scrannr as well as a free trial for all users that have not previously purchased a Scrannr Pro membership
