## What is Scrappy?

Scrappy is a screen-time app with a very good boy standing in front of it.

He's small. He's scruffy. He takes his job extremely seriously. His job is standing between you and the apps that eat your evenings.

WHO'S GUARDING THE DOOR? HE IS.
Pick the apps that always swallow your night. Scrappy plants himself in front of them. First knock, he's polite about it. Fourth knock, he's standing on the doorknob barking his little head off. Swiping away a reminder is easy. Getting past a dog is not.

FIRST, THE SNIFF TEST
Before he takes the job, Scrappy shows you your own Screen Time: your real week, what it costs in hours (and, gulp, years), and the deal he proposes. Apple draws the numbers right on your phone. Nothing is uploaded, ever. He's a dog.

THREE TRICKS, NO FOURTH
He knows exactly three tricks, because three is all anyone needs:
• Quiet hours: the door is shut between two times. Evenings, work, Sunday.
• Daily limit: so many minutes a day, then that's it.
• Open limit: six looks a day is plenty.
Or grab a ready-made rule off the shelf: The morning shift, Sunday off, Six looks, After midnight.

TREATS ARE EARNED, NEVER SOLD
Want in anyway? That'll be one treat. Treats come from real life: about 2,000 steps of walking earns one. Throw it, and you get five honest minutes before the guard is back up. We will never, ever sell you treats. His affection cannot be bought. Only walked for.

SIT. STAY.
Every guarded app gets a resistance level. Negotiable apps open for a treat. Firm apps make you sit for ten seconds first, just long enough to notice you didn't really want to open it. Absolute apps? He will not take the treat. Don't make it weird.

HE'S A QUICK LEARNER
After a week of watching, he might nudge a ceiling down, but only when your real worst day sits far below it, only ever as an offer, one tap to accept. Nothing tightens on its own. He proposes. You decide. He's a professional.

WALKIES
Heading out? Start a walk: a named session where he guards everything while you're gone, Live Activity on your lock screen and all. Finish it, and yes, obviously: that's a treat.

BUILT TO BE LIVED WITH
• Emergency pass: one a month, for boarding passes and genuine emergencies. He doesn't scold. He just... looks at you.
• Always-allowed list, so the important stuff never gets caught in the crossfire.
• Removal lock (optional, ships off): closes the 11pm delete-and-reinstall loophole. Turning it off takes a day, long enough to outlast an urge, and you're never truly stuck.
• Honest stats: what he blocked, what you got back. The numbers never lie and never tease.

PRIVATE, BECAUSE HE'S A DOG
No account. No sign-up. No server of ours, and no analytics. Your Screen Time is drawn by a sandboxed Apple extension that can't phone home, so not one of those numbers ever leaves your phone. The only thing that does is your purchase, under an anonymous id, so he knows you're subscribed. The rest he buries in the yard. Good boys don't gossip.

FREE SCRAPPY, PRO SCRAPPY
Free Scrappy guards your worst hour: any one rule, whole and uncrippled, plus every safety rail above. Pro Scrappy runs your whole week: unlimited rules, rules per app, longer walks, weekly reports, and full control of the treat economy for the strict of heart.

ONE MORE THING
You can pet him. Twelve reactions. One of them is a 1-in-200. People say it's worth it.

## Version history (last 2 releases)

### 1.1 — 2026-08-26

A kinder introduction, and tidier rules.

Getting to know him is quicker now. He asks his few questions, tells you plainly what he made of them, and shows you what a rule is worth before you agree to anything.

Rules are easier on the eye, too. Each one wears its own picture, so a glance is enough to tell them apart.

The rest is quiet housekeeping. Thank you for having him.

### 1.0 — 2026-08-21

No release notes.
