## What is Screen Freedom?

Have you ever tried to spend less time on your phone? There are so many solutions out there, but they all seem to rely on your discipline in one way or another. Although that can work for some, here at Screen Freedom we have an alternative solution: accountability!

Screen Freedom allows you to partner with a friend and hold each other accountable for how much time you spend on your phones. Simply set a screen time goal, selecting the apps of your choice and choosing a daily time limit. Next, use those apps until you reach your limit, at which point they block. At this point, you can either go on living your life, adding a successful day to your screen time streak, or you can unblock your apps, at which point your friend will be notified of your decision and given the chance to reach out to you to offer support. You can also optionally give your friend the ability to deny your request to go over your goal!

With Screen Freedom, you are no longer alone in your battle against tech giants attempting to control your attention. Unlock the power of accountability and be amazed at how many hours you save!

I love the app so far, it helps me and my girlfriend from doomscrolling and unlocking our screen time ourselves. I found a post you made on Reddit about the app and I love most is that it is free. All these apps usually cost money so it’s really nice to see. I would like to recommend 3 things. 1. Having a different allowed screen time for different apps, instead of 4 apps being under the same limit. 2. Have a screen time allowed per hour. Make a setting that I can only access my apps I selected for let’s say, 5 minutes every hour. (This one isn’t really a big deal, just thought it was cool) 3. This one I like the most though, have a setting for “downtime” allow me to block my apps from 10pm to 10 am. Thank you so much.

There are a lot of screen time apps out there, but none of them are quite like Screen Freedom. The app’s creator goes beyond simply tracking your screen time by building in meaningful accountability. You can partner with a friend to help you reach your goals, and if you exceed your screen time limit, your accountability partner is notified. Before continuing, the app also prompts you to reflect on why you’re reaching for your phone in that moment.

As someone who is prone to doom scrolling, this has been incredibly helpful. Instead of staying stuck in unhealthy habits, I’ve been given the opportunity to pause, reflect, and share my struggles with someone I trust. It’s clear that this app wasn’t just designed to limit screen time—it was designed with genuine care for the well-being of its users.

I’ve been using this app for the past 2 weeks and I can confirm that my doomscrolling days are over! I hit my limit, then I move on to more productive forms of entertainment. I cannot be more thankful for this app with such a clever idea. However, my friend and I are on rocky terms as we hold each other accountable, but I think we’ll make it.
