## What is ScreenFox?

ScreenFox helps you reduce screen time by caring for a virtual fox whose wellbeing reflects your digital habits. The more mindfully you use distracting apps, the happier your fox becomes. Excessive scrolling makes it sad, and when it runs out of energy, distracting apps stay locked until tomorrow or until you help it recover through focused work.

The Digital Fox Companion:
At the center of ScreenFox is a virtual fox companion that reflects the user’s digital wellbeing.
The fox has hearts that decrease when opening selected apps. Its emotional state changes based on remaining hearts:
- Plenty of hearts: The fox is happy and smiling
- Some hearts: The fox appears neutral
- No hearts: The fox becomes sad and starts crying
When no hearts are left, access to restricted apps is blocked for the rest of the day.

Daily Limits & Reset System:
Users define which apps to manage and set daily hearts.
- Once there are no hearts left, access to selected apps is restricted for the day
- Every unlock of restricted apps consumes a heart to use for a user-defined session length
- At the end of each day, hearts reset to amount of hearts set
This system encourages more intentional and mindful app usage.

Focus Sessions:
Focus sessions help users regain control and restore balance:
- Restricted apps are blocked during focus time
- Completing a focus session restores hearts
- Restored hearts allow additional restricted app unlocks
This creates a positive loop between focus and digital freedom.

Additional Features:
ScreenFox also includes tools to reduce impulsive behavior:
- App launch delay before opening restricted apps
- Session duration limits with reminders during extended usage
These features encourage reflection and break automatic usage patterns.

Motivation System:
To support long-term habit building, the app includes:
- Daily streaks
- Tasks and achievements
- XP and leveling system
Users are rewarded for consistent mindful usage.
