### 4/5 — within entry search

*2026-05-28, version 2.8*

With Scriba, developer Dominique Cadiet has rendered Latinists and Latin students an indispensable and incredibly affordable resource. The only feature it needs for perfection would be a “control key + f”-type find function within entries. I would love to be able, with an entry for a given lemma to be able to search for specific terms. For example, I’m reading the odes of Horace, who characteristically deploys words in their less common senses. The ability to search with a word entry the authorship abbreviation “Hor.” would greatly facilitate my first readings through Horace. This of course is but one small example of how a within-entry find function would enhance this wonderful app.

### 4/5 — Works until it doesn’t

*2026-04-19, version 2.7*

I primarily use this to look up particular forms to check quickly, but that function has stopped working.

### 5/5 — Sufficiently excellent since inception

*2026-03-30, version 2.6*

Thank you also for returning declensions to the way of Aelius Donatus (NGDAAL). Still not entirely sure when the ‘i’ became a ‘j’ (pos. one of those ‘make it easier for the kids’ things? … not going to discuss this in here), but then, I am old and started studying Latin in the 70s.

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2026-01-16, version 2.6*

In an earlier review, I complained about how I didn’t see any improvements in the update, and how it introduced an annoying issue. It hasn’t even been a week since then and the issue has been fixed. I’d like to thank the devs for being so responsive, I’ll continue using this app for years to come.

### 4/5 — Good app, bad update

*2026-01-12*

I’ve been using this app for a long time and up until the 2.5 update I’ve had nothing but love for this app, but the changes the 2.5 update made to the UI make it slightly less convenient to use, and pecu doesn’t have a declension table.
My biggest complaint however, is that I can no longer open an entry by tapping on the word’s line, I have to tap on the word itself, meaning I can no longer open words by tapping the right side of the screen with my right thumb like I’m used to.
I have seen no improvement with this new update, only a few minor annoyances added. I hope the next update addresses my complaints.

### 2/5 — Clunky but worth the developer fixing its bugs

*2025-04-27, version 2.3*

A very enjoyable resource with the default files and flash cards. When loading in text, PDF, or ePUB files the reader is extremely slow, close to a non-functional reader if not actually non-functional. The flash card portion however still contains bugs, and the app frequently crashes when navigating the documents tab (particularly when exiting a file or tap-searching a word within a loaded file). Further, files are extremely slow to load in the documents tab.

### 1/5 — Please I beg you make dark mode optional

*2024-09-08, version 2.2*

The implementation of dark mode makes the app almost unusable. Please I beg you add a preference to disable it for the app. This would be a tiny amount of work. If necessary I would fund it myself just to have an app I use all the time back to how it was. Please please make dark mode optional (ie if the user has dark mode enabled still enable them to use light mode just for this app)

### 5/5 — Excellent app. Bug on macOS fixed in update.

*2024-08-28, version 2.1*

Excellent app on both iOS and macOS. Very helpful for Latin students, especially "Analysis" feature. Developer responded promptly to fix problem reported in previous version of this review.

### 3/5 — No support contact. Bug on macOS.

*2024-08-11*

It works fine on iOS. The desktop version doesn't: cannot click "Analysis" tab. Very annoying that the so-called Support web page has no email address or any actual support available.

### 4/5 — Great but Incomplete

*2023-11-02, version 1.8*

Lists all the properties of words, e.g. their declensions, conjugations, and shows the inflection of words in each of their cases. However, some vocabularies cannot be looked up in the dictionary.
