I completely love this app. I was using it so consistently to prep for all of my auditions and productions. Unfortunately it’s stopped working due to some bug that Apple needs to fix. I hope they can fix it soon since I’ve been waiting for months now for it to work again. Haven’t been able to find another app like this. It’s perfect for the actor that needs a reader.

So you want to learn your lines and don’t want to pay those rip of subscriptions to do it. Well this app is the perfect rehearsal buddy. 

Import script, select your character, tell it if you want it to read your lines or not, then you can press play and learn. 

If the dev decides to make money from this, then I hope there is a lifetime license for a reasonable price, it seems some devs want a free lunch. I get there are some ongoing costs when keeping an app up to date, but paying every month just for a text ready is greed, paying over 100 for essentially something the iPhone can already do except recognise different characters in a script (when the script is in the correct format) the iPhone also can’t skip saying your lines like these script rehearsal apps can, and I just hope the dev doesn’t go the subscription route with this. It’s a great app, got an error with pdf at the moment, but it’s free and it works great when you import your text document script. Don’t know if you can import pages documents yet but if you can’t then would like that feature, would also like multiple voices you can elect for each character. This is on par with the paid subscription apps, also wouldn’t mind if there were ads to keep it free, but if that were the case, I’d much rather pay for ad free. A one off charge, I think £9.99 would be reasonable, though these are unique apps and don’t have millions of people after them, so if the dev did need to charge a little more I would consider it, so long as it’s a one off charge and not a subscription.

I had some initial problems with the app not registering/recognizing aspects of my script but it turns out it was an issue with the .PDF file. Developer contacted me and helped fix it, and just like that the app worked as intended.

Technical background: Scripts typically start with a title page that contains at least a title line. If there is no tile page Script Buddy should detect that and import the script without issues. You could add a tile page as first page to your pdf and it should import into Script Buddy correctly.

For a user friendly app its perfect, but importing my first .PDF file results in losing the first page. No clue why the app will not recognize that it’s missing a page but thats obviously an immediate delete.

Shame, because if it actually worked it would be perfect.
