In those several months I have only opened it a few times. 90% or more of my study and research is done on my iPad Pro with keyboard attached, landscape view. The app simply does not work in this orientation. Even in portrait orientation it is not the best. It seems to work okay in a browsers but that doesn’t help the app and requires internet access for use. I will keep the app for a few more months and watch for fixes and improvements and update my review if they come. If they don’t I will stick with the church app. ### 4/5 — Great app, but needs native iPad app *2024-08-18, version 0.98.13* This is a great app, and I’m excited for the tools it offers, but I mainly use it on my iPad, and an app designed specifically for iPad would be better than porting over the iPhone version. On the iPhone the app works great, but it would be nice to have some of the browser functionality available in the app on the larger IPad screen. If it had an iPad specific version, I would give it 5 stars. ### 4/5 — Good App *2024-06-25, version 0.98.10* This app has forced me to do a better job learning about other online study tools such as Bible Hub. There is still a lot I have to learn in order to take full advantage of the features of this program, but I think it will turn out to be very helpful in the long run. I understand that Daniel, the AI assistant, is still in beta, but I’m curious as to when it will be available directly on the downloaded apps. I’m very excited about the AI aspect of the program and have already used it several times. I think the interface is a little wonky and takes some getting used to, but overall it’s a very useful study tool, and worth the price of admission. ### 2/5 — Not for Phone Only *2024-06-14, version 0.98.9* I do not use a personal computer. I work entirely of my phone. This app is not for anyone like me. As a phone only access so it is not very useful. I find the LDS Church so much more intuitive and ready to navigate bookmark and add notes. Since this app does not add notes to my primary reading app it does not do me much good because hoping back and forth is a hassle. I hope it becomes more user friendly on the mobile side and it would bee great if it could someday export now to the churches app. Also, it is not cool that it demands credit card information before you can try it at the free level. Also it charged me immediately when I decided to surrender that info and try it out. No response from Scripture Notes when I inquired back Abbott the immediate charge and why it did not give me a trial period. It appears my trial started when I started seeing it up so when I actual have my credit card info I was past the free trial so I just got charged immediately. Very disappointing. It looks like it would be pretty nice of I had a computer, but definitely not worth it for mobile only use. I regret my trial. ### 5/5 — Awesome app *2024-05-12, version 0.98.9* This is one of the best app I’ve ever seen. When I talked to the owner I got more excited by the minute as he explained to me how it was used. I would like to see other resources added to this app to make it even greater. Such as the Jewish encyclopedia, the encyclopedia of Mormonism, journal of discourses, Hadith's, to mame a few. Awesome app, I don’t have any complaints about it, worth every penny. ### 5/5 — One for all and all for one *2024-05-05* This is how I feel about this great app. All the resources available thus far for little old me . im trilled every time I open this app to do my studies. I would like yo see more sources added as is available.Such as the Jewish encyclopedia, encyclopedia of Mormonism, midrash and Talmud journal of discourses. which in my personal experience can amplified the way we understand the scriptures. ### 5/5 — Great Tool(s) *2023-05-31, version 0.92* This is a wonderful app and a great example of technology being used in a righteous way. There is a learning curve. It will take effort for most to get a good handle on the techniques needed to harness the potential of this wonderful tool. But the tutorials are there and support is responsive and timely. If you are a serious student of the scriptures and want to take you study to the next level, this is the app for you. It takes reading, pondering and receiving revelation to a whole new level. You can quickly find relating references, keep your thoughts as you read along, create collections, etc. I have found it to be a GREAT resource for studying the scriptures. There’s a little bit of a learning curve. But watch the videos and stick with it. I have been waiting for this app for a long time! I downloaded it a week ago, there is a learning curve but the YouTube videos are very helpful. I am NOT a scripture scholar, and this is amazing for me. I decided to sign up for the paid version and I am very glad that I did. There are many resources and helps for each verse. Doesn’t matter how many times I change the password. ### 1/5 — Forces Pro Version *2023-11-10* Very deceptive approach when the developer offers a free version & a paid pro subscription, but then compels the pro version as a “14 day trial” with auto charge, just to register. You literally can’t access the free version at all without accepting a mandatory auto-charge opt in that requires you to cancel before their 14 days runs out. To be clear: No access to the free version because you literally cannot register without being compelled to opt into the pro version. If you do and don’t remember to cancel, you get hit with their fees. $5/mo or $50/yr Given the religious nature of the content, what were they thinking?! ### 1/5 — Dishonest! *2022-11-01, version 0.8* When I downloaded this I was excited to see what they offer, I was quickly let down when it told me that I had to pay for it. This was not in the description of the app. In fact you don’t find out that’s subscription based until they have your email in their system. I can’t figure out how to move a scripture to a CN, I cannot update the library Home Screen, and the app crashed twice during one SS lesson. My wife recently had a dream she felt was inspired and had to write it down. When she shared it with me we worked together to interpret this experience that is very sacred to us. I also experimented in plugging it into “Daniel” — the Ai assistant. And wow! Not only did it validate everything we were considering by providing the scripture references we were pondering but provided additional insight supported by scripture that we had not yet considered. Ironic its name is Daniel! Just an incredible blessing! And an awesome tool I will continue to use in my scripture study. Highly Highly recommend. ### 5/5 — Finally! *2025-03-22, version 0.99.12* I was initially hesitant to try this app due to some negative reviews, but after watching the helpful video tutorials, I decided to give it a fair shot—and I’m so glad I did! Though the app is still in its early stages (currently version 0.99.12) and can feel complex at first, the excellent video instructions make it much easier to navigate and unlock its potential. Here’s what I’ve discovered: My Thoughts: Mobile Experience: The app shines on a computer, where the larger screen lets you toggle notes on and off for each verse with ease. On mobile devices, the smaller screen makes navigation a bit less convenient, but all my notes are still accessible in the open panes. It currently uses a mobile phone format on iPads, and I’d love to see a native iPad version in the future. Early Development: Since it’s not yet at version 1.0, I understand it’s still evolving—and I’m excited to see how it grows over time! What I Love About the App: Verse Notes: I love adding notes to any verse and seeing them right alongside the text (especially on the computer). For me, this feature is a game-changer compared to the Gospel Library app, where notes are harder to glance at. Collection Notes: This is a fantastic tool for organizing thoughts on specific topics. I can create a master note and still add individual notes for each verse—perfect for focused study. Powerful Search: The Boolean search functionality, complete with parentheses and the ability to exclude words, is impressive. Results appear in a separate panel, making it easy to refine searches on the fly. Multiple searches appear in a new pane (non-destructive). External Links & AI Assistant: Automatic links to resources like Bible Hub, Blue Letter Bible, and the LDS Citation Index are incredibly handy. Plus, the built-in AI Assistant is a great bonus for digging deeper. Flexible Note-Taking: I can add quotes, definitions, or any text to the verses I’m studying and even link them together, creating a richer study experience. Quote Management: The option to mark notes as quotes and search for them later is a thoughtful touch—it makes finding key quotes a breeze. Whether I’m studying on my computer or checking notes on my phone or iPad, everything syncs beautifully. I can access all my verse notes and Collection Notes anywhere, which is a huge plus. There are so many other amazing features, too! I’m truly grateful for the effort that’s gone into this app and happy to support its development. With continued improvement and community backing, I’m confident it will become an even more valuable tool for scripture study. Great job, Tom! ### 5/5 — Great app for the times you have to use a phone instead of a computer! *2025-03-17, version 0.99.11* So I have been using the Scripture Notes app on my computer for a few months and have been amazed at how it has opened up and revolutionized my scripture study. Recently I went on a trip where I did not have room to bring my laptop computer, and with great resignation I turned to the iPhone version of the app. I ended up very pleased with the results! It is not quite as nice as working with the app on the computer, where you can spread things out better and work more easily with multiple panes open and searches and things like that, but it is more than adequate considering the lack of screen space available on a phone. It worked out much better than I had hoped! I did not feel at all deprived in my scripture study. I just had to be willing to deal with one pane at a time, but it was much less of an issue than I had feared it would be, especially temporarily. I think my being already familiar with the app in the full version was helpful. That being said, I echo the hopes of those who have asked for an iPad version. I have an iPad with a computer keyboard that is easier for me to bring with me in my frequent travels than the laptop, but I have been disappointed in trying to run the full internet version of the app on the iPad. It just doesn’t work as well with the iPad as it does on a computer, and the iPhone version of the app does not transfer well into the iPad either. There just needs to be something in between for the iPad. With Scripture Notes I have learned some great tips. The reference material available enhances my knowledge of the text helps me find little treasured gems.
