## What is Scrollmates?

Screen time apps fail for one simple reason. You can always turn them off, even the strict ones.

Friction is not accountability. Scrollmates does not pretend to be unbreakable. It just makes sure you are not the only one who knows.

Scrollmates gives you and one other person a single shared pool of minutes for the apps you both want to use less. Every minute you spend is a minute they don't get, and the other way round. Nobody is policing anybody. You are drawing from the same account.

HOW A DAY WORKS

You start with a full pool and your blocked apps open normally.

When the pool runs low, your apps are shielded by default, and getting in takes a deliberate claim of up to fifteen minutes at a time.

When the pool is empty, everything on your block list stays shut until your next reset. You can still get in, but it is recorded as a breach and your scrollmate is told.

There is no snooze, and no way to quietly raise your own limit while nobody is looking. The contract is shared, so changing it is something you both see.

HARDCORE MODE

For the days you would rather not have the option. With Hardcore Mode on there is no claiming your way past an empty pool, and no ending the day early.

What remains is a typed emergency of fifteen minutes, and it still goes on the record as a breach. It is not a lock, and we will not pretend otherwise. It is the smallest door we could leave open without lying to you about what any app on your own phone can actually do.

WHAT YOUR SCROLLMATE SEES

Your daily minutes. Your share of the pool. Whether you are scrolling right now.

WHAT THEY NEVER SEE

Which apps you blocked. Anything you did inside them.

That line is deliberate. Accountability does not require surveillance.

BLOCK SCHEDULES

Set the hours that are not up for negotiation. A quiet first hour, a deep work block, a wind-down before bed. Schedules run themselves, and you can each see the other's.

THE JOURNAL

Your week, laid out honestly. How much each of you used, how the split fell, how each day ended, and whether this week beat the last one.

SHARED QUESTS

One level and one streak, shared between you. Keep the day under a ceiling, keep the late nights clear, and you both climb. Break the contract and you both start over. It is the only kind of streak that holds, because neither of you wants to be the one who ended it.

ON YOUR OWN

No scrollmate yet? Solo mode gives you the same pool, the same phases and the same journal. Pair up whenever you're ready.

BEFORE YOU START

Scrollmates uses Apple's Screen Time to shield the apps on your block list. You choose what goes on that list.

### 5/5 — Fun and effective

*2026-09-15*

I like how this app forces me to be conscious of my screen time 24/7 without adding friction. There’s a lot of fluctuation each day but we’ve managed to keep it under 4hrs together so far. Would recommend giving it a go but make sure it’s with someone you actually care about lol
