## What is ScrollToll?

Every time you reach for Instagram, ScrollToll asks one question first. Get it right and you scroll. Miss it and it comes back later. You're studying — without choosing to.

**BUILT ON DISTRIBUTED RECALL™**

The same spaced-repetition science behind every serious study tool (Cepeda et al., 2006), delivered where you actually pick up your phone. Cards you struggle with surface more often. Cards you've mastered get out of your way. You don't have to remember to open the app — you already do, 96 times a day.

**ANKI ONLY WORKS WHEN YOU OPEN ANKI**

We work because you open your phone. Move to China and you'll learn Chinese without trying — you can't help it. ScrollToll does the same thing for the MCAT (and SAT, USMLE prep, mental math, vocabulary, chess, and any topic you want to learn passively).

**HOW IT WORKS**

1. Pick the apps that waste your time
2. ScrollToll locks them behind a single question
3. Solve it — usually an MCAT question, mental math problem, chess tactic, or vocabulary card
4. Get 5 minutes, then it relocks automatically
5. Every unlock IS a study session — distributed across your real day

**WHO IT'S FOR**

- Premeds prepping for the MCAT who want discipline they can't fake
- Med students grinding USMLE Step 1
- Students who open Instagram "for a second" and lose an evening
- Professionals who lose hours to their phone during deep work
- Anyone who's tried Anki, fallen off, and wants the spacing without the discipline tax

**THE MATH**

The average person unlocks their phone 96 times per day. ScrollToll turns 50+ of those into deliberate, spaced-practice moments. In a month, you've passively practiced over 1,400 questions — without ever sitting down with a textbook.

**REAL BLOCKING, NOT A SUGGESTION**

ScrollToll uses Apple's Screen Time API to block apps at the OS level. No overlay you can swipe away. No "are you sure?" button. When an app is locked, it's locked — until you earn your way in.

- OS-level blocking — can't be bypassed or dismissed
- Distributed Recall™ — adaptive spaced repetition built into every unlock
- Auto-relock after 5 minutes — no honor system
- MCAT, USMLE, mental math, chess, vocabulary, and custom packs
- 3 difficulty levels — beginner to advanced
- Works with any app — social media, news, dating apps
- On-device puzzle delivery — your usage stays private

ScrollToll doesn't ask you to quit your phone. It asks you to earn it.

Download free. Upgrade for advanced packs, Distributed Recall™ across all topics, and unlimited app blocking.

### 5/5 — honestly changed my life

*2026-08-18*

i am an avid doomscroller and also a pre-PA student with adhd. this app genuinely has been the best decision ive made this year. it feels so rewarding to get an MCAT question right (even tho im personally not going to take the MCAT) and reduce my instagram usage at the same time. i highly recommend for students or anyone wishing to decrease their time on social media. i love the pause option for nights im not doing work or during my lunch break! please never get rid of the free version. if i had more money id pay for the pro version because thats how much this app genuinely benefits me.

it will change your life! do it!

### 5/5 — Helpful & effective!

*2026-08-14*

I began using this app yesterday, to block a social media platform i have a serious screentime issue with. While getting set up was a little intimidating, once you get started, it’s really helpful! It helps me keep track of my doomscrolling habit, and it’s a really nice way to review content and concepts. Great app

### 2/5 — Great until it wasn’t

*2026-08-09*

For a few days, this app was everything I’d hoped it’d be. But turns out that that’s just the free trial of the paid version, of which the app is basically useless without. I’d be interested in trying it again if this got resolved, but until then I can’t recommend it.

### 5/5 — A big fan of this work in progress

*2026-08-06*

I love this app! The developer is clearly working very hard on this and I use it a lot. That being said, the multiple choice can present some challenges on here for me in terms of memorizing the beginning of the answer/question and it would be really cool to see some short answer or jeopardy style questions to facilitate some deeper learning (maybe thats just me though 😂) Theres a good range of topics that already have questions decks and you can import your own too! I was a little bummed that I no longer saw NCLEX questions but otherwise fantastic so far. I pay for premium and feel its worth the (quite low) cost :)

### 5/5 — Helping the doomscrolling

*2026-07-27*

So happy I found this. It is really just what you need to help you stop doomscrolling and actually think about your goals and get back to studying.

### 1/5 — Paywall???

*2026-07-27*

After about a week, the app suddenly limited me to one puzzle per hour and locked me out completely, I couldn’t even leave the payment screen to use the rest of the app. This wasn’t mentioned when I downloaded it. I understand needing to monetize, but springing a hard paywall on users with no warning, and trapping them on the payment screen with no way out, is just bad way to do it.

### 5/5 — ADHD life hack

*2026-07-24*

For my fellow medbros with attention span issues (most of us, don’t even lie about it) it’s great for when you’re allergic to sitting down long enough for a traditional Kaplan study session. Highly recommend- though you may want to have another more traditional study plan to supplement :) happy studying!

### 5/5 — 2nd Uworld

*2026-07-22*

Designed incredibly well, this app allows you to fit in a couple of reps every time you open social media. since it’s only one question, it’s not taxing at all. before you know it, you’ve done at least 30 q a day

### 4/5 — Good App with One Downside

*2026-07-18*

I really like this app and it teaches a lot of randomized MCAT questions. I like the setup and it shows you how many you got right vs how many you got wrong and explains it VERY well and shows you what subjects you need the most help in, HOWEVER. This app is not truly a free app. After consistently playing you are paywalled to practice questions. You have an hour cooldown to answer 1 question and have to pay for the premium subscription to continue studying. This also means your apps stay locked for an hour unless you pay extra… so it defeats the purpose of the app. I’m not sure if this is because I primarily use the app for studying as opposed to a doom-scroll blocker but yeah.

### 5/5 — Helpful

*2026-07-17*

Don’t have premium but still love the app! It refreshes on some of my prior classes and goes into topics I haven’t yet studied

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 4.6 — 2026-08-26

Your notes just got more room.

• DROP IN A WHOLE TEXTBOOK — pick a big PDF and choose exactly which part to use. Tap any page to read it full-size before you decide.
• PASTE AS MUCH AS YOU WANT — up to ~125 pages at once. We'll find the most testable parts and build your pack from those.
• KNOW WHAT'S IN YOUR PACK — a live page meter while you paste, and a receipt showing exactly which pages your pack was built from.
• NO MORE MYSTERY WAITS — while your questions are written, you'll see what's happening step by step. If your upload can't become questions, we tell you why and let you try different material.
• PACKS FINISH THEMSELVES — if you finish setup before we finish writing, the rest of your questions now arrive on their own.
• PACK CLEARED — a little celebration when you've seen every card in a pack, and a one-tap way to build your next one.
• START FRESH — swipe any pack to reset its progress.
• NIGHT-FRIENDLY — a new Appearance setting lets the answer and upload sheets go dark with your phone.

### 4.5 — 2026-08-16

Your notes are the toll now.

• YOUR CLASSES, YOUR QUESTIONS — snap photos of your notes, paste text, or drop in a PDF, and ScrollToll turns them into a question pack for the exact class you're studying.
• SHARE YOUR PACK — every pack you make gets a 6-letter class code. A classmate types it in (or taps your link) and studies from the same questions. Find it in Settings → Question Packs.
• PER-APP UNLOCK LENGTHS — YouTube deserves longer unlocks than TikTok. Now each blocked app can have its own.
• A FRESH COAT — new icon, new look. Same toll.

### 4.4 — 2026-08-07

Sharper from the very first minute:

• SAT — during setup you now get a projected score report built from your quick diagnostic, showing where your practice volume can take you.
• Faster setup — your exam is one tap from the first screen.
• Your plan preview now shows the real size of the question bank behind it.
• Polish and reliability improvements throughout.

### 4.3 — 2026-08-01

Two big new ways to study:

• SAT PREP - new SAT Reading & Writing and SAT Math packs: 600+ digital-SAT-style questions covering grammar, transitions, words in context, algebra, and more. Questions start short and ramp up in a curated order, and your blocked apps get an SAT-themed lock screen.
• WORDS WORTH KNOWING - a 1,200-word vocabulary pack, from everyday-sharp to the literary shelf. Every card is a sentence puzzle: reason your way to the word, tap the speaker to hear it pronounced, and words you already knew master faster.
• STARTING DIFFICULTY - choose which shelf new vocabulary words are introduced from, any time, on the pack's page.
• A cleaner pack picker, so the strongest packs are easier to find.

Lock your apps. Learn something to get back in.

### 4.2 — 2026-07-24

See your answer, not just the verdict:

• MINIMIZE THE FEEDBACK CARD - tap the chevron at the top of the answer card to collapse it into a small Correct/Incorrect pill. The full question and your color-coded choices stay in view underneath, so you can actually see what you picked and why it was wrong. Tap the pill to bring the card back.

Smaller screens, no more guessing what the card is covering.
