The app would crash immediatley after adding a photo. So, I was forced to update and lost the previous functionality. That's not nice. Outputs are more realistic than other apps….although it does get comical at times. The option to further treat a filter to create a new preset is outstanding! I can honestly state this because, I not only have them and use them. I vouch for them. After you learn all the thing’s available within them and see the beautiful artistry you will create using them, you will see for yourself. Look around on the App Store for even more Apps by this Developer. All are ‘the best’. This Developer started small but his Apps have grown to Top Class Apps. He worked very hard to get his Apps to their current success. I speak from personal use of all of these very Apps. You will not be disappointed with the outcomes created by this Developer. Vector… Merci ### 5/5 — Not Bad *2024-10-08* Really good app ### 3/5 — I appreciate the continual upgrades *2024-09-18* I was an early user of SDFX and the experience was rough. It was slow, clunky and there are many other tools that do most of this stuff faster and without a credits system. I would check in every month or so and recently found the updates to be more usable and dare I say fun? The app is a bit of a digital artist toolbox with a lot of options to choose from. The AI additions are fine, but are outclassed by a dozen tools that only do that. The app is still a bit of a pig when it comes to memory management, I am on a Mac Studio Ultra with 64GB of memory and effects still drag... cloud connectivity to their AI processing box on our Gig fiber connection fails at least half of the time. The reason to keep at it with SDFX is that they are trying hard and they made something different that has a ton of potential. One must realize that there is a solid "sharing" of creativity with the processes. Often pleasently surprising and at other times quite hilarious. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Since Update Dissappointed *2024-08-02, version 2.2.5* I was really enjoying the app since this latest update - now it isn't functional at all. Everytime I upload a photo it automatically shuts itself down. I have deleted and redownloaded the program with the same results, over and over again. I also cannot seem to download a previous version. Would love some help, please! ### 1/5 — Be careful with Family Sharing *2024-05-23* Since the beginning, login has always been problematic with SDFX. Using the Family Share on 2 computers sadly crashed the login. When the app opens now, it crashes after a few seconds. I went to subscribe, clicked the "Three Day Trial", got the "we will charge you in three days" message, and went back to use it and nothing has been unlocked. I closed and reopened it, uninstalled and reinstalled it, and nothing seems to be working. I am going to uninstall it -- doesn't seem to be friendly after the initial testing. Thieves. ### 1/5 — Ein gutes Programm mit Tücken. *2023-12-07, version 2.0.7* Wenn das Programm funktioniert dann bin ich wirklich zufrieden. Bedauerlicherweise musste ich feststellen, dass das Programm in seiner aktuellen Version auf meinem System MacOS 14.1.1 nicht ordnungsgemäß funktioniert. Bei jedem Versuch, das Programm zu nutzen, bleibt es wiederholt stehen, und die Bearbeitung kann nicht erfolgreich abgeschlossen werden. Schade ich hätte das Prgramm gern weiter genutzt. ### 1/5 — App crashes und keine free trial *2023-09-26, version 4.6.1* Anscheinend ist die App darauf angelegt lediglich Geld einzusammeln. In der App werden 3 Tage Probezeit versprochen, jedoch wird direkt Geld abgebucht. Hinzu kommt, dass die komplexeren Filter das iPhone 14 Pro zum Absturz bringen. ### 1/5 — Don’t pay for a subscription *2023-08-27, version 4.6.0* Doesn’t work. ### 1/5 — Entwickler ist unerreichbar *2023-06-08, version 4.3.16* Die angegebene E-Mail-Adresse ist leider ungültig. Deshalb kann man niemanden erreichen, wenn man nach/während der 3-tägigen Testphase von einem Kauf absehen möchte. Deshalb platziere ich hier mein Schreiben an SDFX, in der Hoffnung auf eine Reaktion und einer Akzeptanz meiner Stornierung: Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, nachdem ich nun SDFX getestet habe, muss ich leider sagen, dass es nicht dem entspricht, was ich für meine Zwecke benötige und ich auch sonst keineswegs mit der Leistung zufrieden bin. Das größte Manko ist die Reduzierung der Bildgröße. Ein Originalbild mit einer Bildgröße von 16092 × 13721, hat nachdem ich es mit SDFX bearbeitetet habe, nur noch eine Bildgröße von 2011 × 1715. Ich fotografiere mit großer Auflösung, um Vorlagen für Posterdrucke zu erstellen. Um das auch mit künstlerisch veränderten Bildern zu machen, habe ich SDFX heruntergeladen. Bei einer derart enormen Reduzierung der Bildgröße, ist das natürlich nicht möglich und somit habe ich keinen Nutzen davon. Daher möchte ich von einem weiteren Gebrauch absehen und storniere den Kauf mit sofortiger Wirkung. Da dieses jedoch nicht der einzige Mangel war, ist es Ihnen vielleicht eine Hilfe, wenn ich Ihnen weitere Mängel mitteile, die ich während des Testens notiert habe. Weitere Mängel: Bei „VECTOR“ war „DREIFARBIG“ nicht zu verwenden – das Programm stürzte sofort ab. Nach dem 4. Versuch diese Option zu verwenden, habe ich es aufgegeben. Beim erneuten Öffnen von SDFX dauert es ewig, bis „KEIN FILTER“ geladen ist, obwohl das Originalbild bereits vollständig auf dem Bildschirm ist. Der Vorgang lässt sich auch nicht unterbrechen, womit nach jedem Absturz des Programmes ca. 3 Minuten Zeit vergehen, bis man damit weiterarbeiten kann. Wenn das Programm nicht ganz abstürzt, so hat man im Schnitt bei jeder 2. Anwendung nur noch eine Schwärze als Bild. Bei VERWISCHEN, VIGNETTE, TIEFENSCHÄRFE UND SCHEINWERFER ist das ständig der Fall und somit sind diese Optionen nicht nutzbar (wie viele weitere auch). Selbst wenn man zurück auf „KEIN FILTER“ geht, erhält man nur noch Schwärze als Bild und man muss das Programm beenden und neu öffnen, womit dieselbe Zeit verloren geht, wie bei 2. Es lässt sich keine Einstellung anpassen und wenn, dann nur jeweils mit großem Zeitaufwand eine einzige. Doch egal ob man z.B. die Stärke nach oben oder nach unten verstellt, das Bild verändert sich zu einem surrealen Etwas, das nichts mehr mit dem eigentlichen Bild zu tun hat. Ein Zurückgehen auf die ursprüngliche Einstellung ist nicht mehr möglich, selbst wenn man das Original-Bild auf „KEIN FILTER“ zurücksetzt und es erneut mit der Standardeinstellung der letzten Option versucht. Bei „Künstlerisch“ geht ab „3 GRÖSSE DITHER“ nur noch eine Option. Dann muss das Programm beendet und neu gestartet werden. Bei Zoom-Unschärfe z.B. wird erst verändert, bevor man den Bereich bestimmen kann und die Veränderung ist schwarz mit einem roten Punkt. Auch Voreinstellungen sind nicht zu machen. Ich habe irgendwann aufgehört, das Programm zu testen, weil mir die Mängel zu viel und auch zu zeitraubend wurden. Da ich noch innerhalb der 3-Tagesfrist den Kauf storniere, bitte ich Sie, von einer Abbuchung irgendwelcher Kosten abzusehen und damit Ihnen und auch mir Zeit und Ärger zu ersparen. After optimising an image in either Neo or Photoshop, the next step is to bring it into SDFX to apply one of my favourite filters. I especially like Flower Garden by Klimt, who is one of my all time favourite artists.
