## What is SDOH Sim?

Wright State University (WSU) Boonshoft School of Medicine (BSOM), College of Engineering & Computer Science (CECS) and Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL) partner in this Medicaid Equity Simulation (MES) project sponsored by Ohio Department of Medicaid to address inequities and inefficiencies of the health eco-system, specifically those related to the Social Determinants of Health (SDoH), while providing new mechanisms for the operationalization of health practice and health education.

The goal of SDOH Sim is to emphasize the importance of understanding the patient as an individual, and expressing compassion to the patient. This helps to build a relationship with the patient, increase the likelihood that the patient will be honest and forthcoming, and minimize the effects of any bias towards the patient that may be present.

The Medicaid Equity Simulation Project is funded by the Ohio Department of Medicaid and administered by the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center. The views expressed in this training simulation are solely those of the authors and do not represent the views of the state of Ohio or federal Medicaid programs.
